Brilliant video again. Your energy and enthusiasm lifted my spirits and filled me with happiness. Laughed out loud at your panic when approaching the ferry. Oh my! The Lea Valley campsite is in Edmonton, the town I grew up in. There used to be Picketts Lock leisure centre there (I used to go drinking at the golf range bar) and the cinema and a restaurant was built in front of the centre to make it a more leisure complex. I moved away in 2002 and they apparently pulled down Picketts Lock and built the athletics centre for the 2012 olympics.

Word of warning when in London and its suburbs, if you have a converted van, make sure it is registered as motorhome/campervan. If its been converted but you havent gone through the process with the DVLA and the V5 says its still a van you can/will get stung for going through tunnels/restricted areas. We travelled with a mate and he got 2 fines in his T5 and we didnt see any notifications around the tunnel to indicate this was an issue!

Hi both. Been following you for a while now. Enjoy your vlogs. Back in 72 my late wife and myself wild camped in the back of a Vauxhall Viva estate car round Cornwall for a week doing much the same as you are now and with our young son aged 18 months. All we could afford then. Seeing as you were in my old Manor I thought you might like to learn a bit about where you were in North London. The Lee Valley site is at Pickets Lock in Edmonton. Have you ever watched Some Mothers do Ave em ? I doubt you have. You can Google it. In one episode the scene in the roller skating rink was filmed there at Pickets Lock. You took the train from Edmonton Green which was immortalised in a song by Chas and Dave. You should have a listen. More roller skating scenes were shot at the bus station at Edmonton Green as well. I hope Janine didn't get too EXCITED at the gig. 😉

Couldn’t even get the electric locking to work on the van. Rang the maintenance people. Said we were in London. He said you’re not in Crystal Palace campsite are you. We said yes. He said yeh the locks won’t work. Do them manually!!! Luckily we only stayed two nights and left. I wouldn’t go back there. I mean this was years ago, but I didn’t like it there at all. The vans were also very packed in. Not much space as I recall. Not very green either. Well not like Abbey wood anyway. Enjoying your trips. Thank you.

We thought similar about van life in London, however after having to stay for work we found it super easy! North London (Theobalds Park Camping and Caravanning club) was great and a 20min walk to overground. We also found that Watford was a great area for wild camping with a friendly community, lots of park ups and on the tube line! Currently I'm working in Windsor and have found this area to be the best for wild camping with links still to london. Windsor has a designated campervan park up thats free overnight (with water tap 😉) and right in the town centre - I highly recommend 👌

The site at Crystal Palace is open until 18th of December and you can get a bus 300 yards away from the site entrance right into the centre of London for £1.50. It runs 24hrs a day and is perfect for trips to London. The future of the site is uncertain as the local Council want to build houses on it. It's had a stay of execution for 12 months at a time for about the last 3 or 4 years now, so not sure how many more years it'll be there. Worth a visit though

I live a short distance from the Lea Valley campsite. Although the site itself is a bit barren, a quick glance at the satellite view of the area will show you that it’s part of a huge wetlands park, with large reservoirs and a navigable canal, (River Lee or Lea), leading down to the Thames. Where you have a navigation, you have a tow path which can be a great walking or cycling route, always flat and away from roads.

How much do you pay in congestion charges etc for going into London for the day? isn't it rather expensive!

Thank you for being so complimentary about London guys. It's my hometown and I love it, but so many people complain about it, and don't forgive it for it's problems.

Great video guys, but I would sooner be on the right side of the law and pay our way my wife and look at it this way if we couldn't afford to pay than we will not do it,,but then your channel is parking where ever and getting away without paying or paying the minimum charge, but not knocking you guys and you do a brilliant job of showing the ups and downs of Van Life,,ps we are not full van lifers we are a couple of weeks here and there camping with our German Shepherd dog 🐕.

Re Lee Valley. The cinema and sports centre have been there for decades. See 'Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em' when Frank Spencer is roller skating.

Loved this one. I live in North Devon now but I was born and raised in London and had lived not far from both camp sites! I knew Lee Valley site as Picketts Lock. I grew up not far away in Tottenham. In my 20's I moved to south east London, not far from Abbey Wood. I knew there was a camp site there but didn't know how nice it is. I may use it when visiting old friends.👍

Can I just ask if the prices of the campsites were cheaper because of being campervan/ motor home ones? You know like the caravan club, get the camping cheaper if they stay in 1. I loved the 1st campsite, loved the trees

Check out the Edinburgh festival. Camp sites to the South and North of the City with a 20 minute bus ride to the City Centre. Book early. Edinburgh can match London for buzz factor at August.

🌴Aloha from Hawaii.💚Thanks for sharing. It's exciting to see the sites thru your eyes. Of which we, from elsewhere, see it by way of tourist bureau ads.💙 Looking forward to more driving sights.💛
