"How DARE They?!" | Ben Habib Hits Out At France For 'Letting Migrants Cross Channel'

- More than 10,000 migrants have arrived in the UK after crossing the Channel since Labour won the general election.
Home Office figures show 65 migrants made the journey in two boats on Monday, taking the provisional total for the year so far to 23,598.
The latest crossings mean 10,024 arrivals have been recorded since Sir Keir Starmer became Prime Minister on July 4.
The total for 2024 to date is 1% lower than this time last year (23,940) and down 21% on the same period in 2022 (29,783).
The figures come in the wake of Channel deaths over the weekend and as Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced £75 million would be used to boost the number of border security officers amid the Government’s bid to crack down on people smugglers, using money redirected from the scrapped Rwanda deportation plan.

Not a lot shocks me anymore regarding this crisis at the border but yesterday.... Yesterday there was a total of 1000 ' entries ' the cost to intercept and process them came to £50 million. For just one day. That number is going to inflate even more when they are houses, clothed, fed etc. Half a billion a month I'd say.

I’m not surprised that the French let them cross, they don’t want them there either and the easiest option is to let them leave for the uk. Although in reality, France should actually look after its own boarders which would stop them in the first place.

If the French are being paid to stop the boats crossing the channel, I don't understand why the British can't pick up the illegal immigrants in the channel and send them back to the France. How can the French complain if they are being paid to stop them coming?

UK should update the refugee law, which was set up since 1953 when people only travelled by horses and sailing boats. It perhaps took months to reach the country but now people can travel a day or two by illegal routes before reaching the UK. So that law must be updated.
