Im glad to see this comment becuase I literally never seen anyone talk about this comparison and I dont know how it started but I've been on a vedic cosmology binge lately and one of the first connections I've made is how the vedics view of the universe is eeirly similar to the dark continent, even down to the portrayal of earth being "surrounded" by a much larger land mass. Also, I'm sure Togashi has taken many liberties with his power system of nen, but I do believe that Togashi utilized certain real concepts of nen or rather spiritual energy (at least concepts understood by the vedas) and maybe, to a certian extent, it could be neccessary to "cross over" to the dark continent. What do you think?

The fact that he made 'classes' and 'types' of nen as shows that he's immersed in Vedic or generally eastern spirituality because this stuff is not easy to procure by glancing at a few web articles, (he has proper literature) the concept of Manas and Kama which are the main concepts behind nen in HXH (and other things that 20th european psychologists borrowed from the east are all rooted here), like the unconscious, which togashi uses as the basis for nen training, the whole idea of nen training is to 'bring out' this inner thing, and make the unconscious conscious. It's really funny because you can see Togashi is so immersed in research and so eclectic, can't wait to see more

my favorite part or at least one of them is meeting beyond's team. I love the idea of crazy strong and talented characters just being introduced especially how unique and eccentric they are.
I think the plan is: To have someone be the conduit for teleporting people to and from the Island base (before the guardian boarder) to the Dark Continent without ever needing to deal with the gatekeepers after the first time they do with Morel. Since those survivors from past expiditions who had to go through the gatekeepers were forced to bring back a curse or calamity with them, having a Nen user with teleportation abilities that can transfer a group of people is absolutely vital for circumventing that. Even if they don't go through the Gatekeepers to come back to the human world, it could all be chopped up to an unfortunate death, which wouldn't arouse suspicion and I think is a regular occurance for travelers. So Tokurine being in charge of "travel" from Dark Continent to base is a well thought out plan for whatever her nen ability is.
Get this: Netero didnt 'felt like it' regarding the Tresaures of the Dark Continent. From my understanding, he iddnt get his own personal gain but was indeed strong enough to existo n the Dark Continent, sooooo i guess he wasnt feeling like grabbing one of the Massive Treasures real-quick

the dark contienet introduction is a togashi masterpiece he really outdid himself in terms of world building characters building and connecting everything with political world and themes of hxh ..i m not going to get too political with the v6 but iwill say that steiner represents the good side of v6 the snientific research and human progress side not the greed and lust for resources and control and the race to arms and may have a very important role.. as for beyond just like his name suggests he is set out to be the epitome of hunters and human ambition he seems to have all the qualities .. strength knowledge patience confidence ambition connectins and resources .he seems to have predicted the v6 tying to arrest him and has allies there and in the hunter association and kakin royal familyplus a private army as far as his personality goes i dont think he is playing a character he is selfish but i think he enjoys sharing his exploits and ambition with others and respects people who are similar then there is the connection with past with his relashionship with his father.. beyond is just being introduced and he is already one of the most intresting charatcers before even getting to the dak contient and what he is looking for which may o may not be related to gings hunt..now the trip to the dark contient is just starting but there are questions of why the kakin king wanted this trip and why he took people with him then we ask why netero wasnt intrested in the contient maybe because the struggle was against nature and survival and calamities felt to him like a fight against animals and not against a person maybe this is why he was surprised the meruem had a human personality.. and how is that connected to pariston.ect like i said this dark acontient mere prologue is togashi taking hxh to new level the bad news is he did it when he had health problems so we are never seeing the est of the story
the problem with toriko manga about gourmet world, the author makes us believe that toriko are strong enough to face anything, so as a reader we don't have high expectation about what's to come in gourmet world but this manga is different. even beyond or chrollo or gon. we as a reader don't have any confidence that they can handle dark continent. which is exciting to look forward too

As for the dark continent, we know humans have been there and back, even if its an abysmally small amount. im curious to see the full power of the threats brought back, though.
5:28 from what I can see, two were Ai's victim. From Killua's flashback it could be seen the victims were either squash from top and bottom to the middle or become something like a squeeze shirt. The doll like humanoid was pup's plaything, the middle one is Brion (the bioweapon, don't know if the spelling is correct) and the fourth one I don't know for sure but might be a vessel of Ai. Hellbells' victim turns them into a homicidal killer while zobie(?) disease has a 99% mortality rate and make the fortunate one's to survive it immortal.

Does anyone think it's possible that beyond netero is based on gilgamesh? The design of his character looks very similar to typical depictions of gilgamesh but also gilgamesh is believed to be the sumerian equivalent of nimrod, and nimrod I believe was king of babylon during the towers babel's construction and was able to convince his followers to build the tower of babel using something called the words of power in the writings of abraham which is similar to beyond's personality and ability to be very persuasive, and not only this but the tower of babel story is about hubris and mankind not knowing when it's best to just stay in your lane, which mirrors beyond's philosophy and reasons for wanting to go to the dark continent.

@@apeesteranime2956 it's possible that beyond's character may also be inspired by genghis khan when you consider how similar beyonds character design is to typical depictions of genghis khan and also the fact that beyonds armour looks very similar to mongolian armour, but also the fact that beyonds philosophy about constantly reaching beyond your limits and humanity needing to constantly the increase the scale of their scale of their ambition and goals feels very similar genghis kahns conqueror mentality and him wanting to unify all of Asia.
at around 12 mins it was my idea that the V5 wanted to leave kakin on the "fake continent" and tell them it was the dark continent then secretly go to the real one
I'm guessing the Trinity Elixir being the mother solution for a bunch of different things means it's the base ingredient for various interesting thing. Something like the philosophers stone which could be used to make an elixir of life, used in a process to turn lead into gold, and several other fantastic creations/processes.
The only way I see any of the main characters surviving the dark continent is by either teaming up or with or taming some of the creatures in the dark continent or by awakening their own nen beast.
I just feel like that with Don freecs being the writer of the books, Gon and Killua, or at least Gon will appear as stowaways later on the story. At least that's my hopeful thinking.
Also if the author is still sailing and writing the book, then it’s also possible that the author dies before finishing the book and could even already be dead for all anyone knows. Ging’s belief that he would still be alive after all this time and after everything we know of the DC is incredibly optimistic
My thoughts on the dark continent are pretty much may seem crazy but despite all the horrors that lurk on the dark continent i think it is wrong and immoral to ban people permanently from attempting to go to the dark continent because no matter how horrible the said place is there will always be the drive to discover, explore, document experience and investigate its human nature and even though there are horrors fear will not last forever and nothing will stop the will of exploration not monsters, diseases, terrifying creatures, the unknown or fear of dark knowledge. The reason why i am so sure about this is because humanity hates limits.
So with all the information we have so far, this continent is perhaps the most dangerous and deadly place we know of (But there is also the question how strong or crazy must be all the hunters who are on board so that they have a minimal chance of survival at all).

Honestly, I think it's best they end the series when he does die. Looking at the dark continent, I like it more as a mysterious and terrifying place. Explaining and showing it off will just ruin the mystery and uniqueness around it. Personally, I feel like Togashi should find a way to wrap the story up properly through the Succession War.

From what I can remember I think they’re taking a different boat. All I can remember right now for sure is that they’re meeting everyone on the fake dark continent.
I'm wondering now that I've heard all this I wanna ask. Are the island humans dwarfs? Gin mentioned in the dark continent there's a giant tree with a city at its bottom with that and this point stuff out that ive missed Ive come up with some theories. 1. Humans are smaller due to island dwarfism because of how small the islands and their inhabitants literally compare to literally everything that is the dark continent 2. Nen is vestigial we've seen that the islands are dangerous but compared to the hellscape that is the dark continent they wouldn't need to fight quite as hard for life as humans on the mainland do. That's why nen needs to be unlocked, is compartmentalized, has conditions, and why not only can only some people use it but specialists are rare. Nen is on its way out of the gene pool. My final thoughts on this are what are the mainland humans like? And how different is their society? Personally I'm thinking 10 ft tall gojo's(JJK) flying about with the craziest lifespan you can think of.
I like that one about nen vanishing away from the “modern world’s” people genetics since the environment is not quite chaotic enough to require its usage all the time. Ai(nanika) could be an exemple of that. She healed Gon’s wounds instantly without any form of exchange. Yet it highly implied that it was nen. Some crazy overpowered nen much stronger than any application of nen we had seen before (it was stated that some nen exorcists failed to even comprehend what had happened to Gon). And Kurapika’s Holy chain was seen as extremely OP up to that point in terms of healing. And Ai seems to be able to do pretty much anything it wants using nen. Makes you wonder what nen really is and also about the different species in that crazy world.

the dark contienet introduction is a togashi masterpiece he really outdid himself in terms of world building characters building and connecting everything with political world and themes of hxh ..i m not going to get too political with the v6 but iwill say that steiner represents the good side of v6 the snientific research and human progress side not the greed and lust for resources and control and the race to arms and may have a very important role.. as for beyond just like his name suggests he is set out to be the epitome of hunters and human ambition he seems to have all the qualities .. strength knowledge patience confidence ambition connectins and resources .he seems to have predicted the v6 tying to arrest him and has allies there and in the hunter association and kakin royal familyplus a private army as far as his personality goes i dont think he is playing a character he is selfish but i think he enjoys sharing his exploits and ambition with others and respects people who are similar then there is the connection with past with his relashionship with his father.. beyond is just being introduced and he is already one of the most intresting charatcers before even getting to the dak contient and what he is looking for which may o may not be related to gings hunt..now the trip to the dark contient is just starting but there are questions of why the kakin king wanted this trip and why he took people with him then we ask why netero wasnt intrested in the contient maybe because the struggle was against nature and survival and calamities felt to him like a fight against animals and not against a person maybe this is why he was surprised the meruem had a human personality.. and how is that connected to pariston.ect like i said this dark acontient mere prologue is togashi taking hxh to new level the bad news is he did it when he had health problems so we are never seeing the est of the story
The dark continent has so many parallels with Toriko's Gourmet World. i wonder if either of these were influenced by the other.
the problem with toriko manga about gourmet world, the author makes us believe that toriko are strong enough to face anything, so as a reader we don't have high expectation about what's to come in gourmet world
but this manga is different. even beyond or chrollo or gon. we as a reader don't have any confidence that they can handle dark continent. which is exciting to look forward too

As for the dark continent, we know humans have been there and back, even if its an abysmally small amount. im curious to see the full power of the threats brought back, though.

5:28 from what I can see, two were Ai's victim. From Killua's flashback it could be seen the victims were either squash from top and bottom to the middle or become something like a squeeze shirt. The doll like humanoid was pup's plaything, the middle one is Brion (the bioweapon, don't know if the spelling is correct) and the fourth one I don't know for sure but might be a vessel of Ai.
Hellbells' victim turns them into a homicidal killer while zobie(?) disease has a 99% mortality rate and make the fortunate one's to survive it immortal.

Does anyone think it's possible that beyond netero is based on gilgamesh? The design of his character looks very similar to typical depictions of gilgamesh but also gilgamesh is believed to be the sumerian equivalent of nimrod, and nimrod I believe was king of babylon during the towers babel's construction and was able to convince his followers to build the tower of babel using something called the words of power in the writings of abraham which is similar to beyond's personality and ability to be very persuasive, and not only this but the tower of babel story is about hubris and mankind not knowing when it's best to just stay in your lane, which mirrors beyond's philosophy and reasons for wanting to go to the dark continent.

I'm guessing the Trinity Elixir being the mother solution for a bunch of different things means it's the base ingredient for various interesting thing. Something like the philosophers stone which could be used to make an elixir of life, used in a process to turn lead into gold, and several other fantastic creations/processes.
The only way I see any of the main characters surviving the dark continent is by either teaming up or with or taming some of the creatures in the dark continent or by awakening their own nen beast.

My thoughts on the dark continent are pretty much may seem crazy but despite all the horrors that lurk on the dark continent i think it is wrong and immoral to ban people permanently from attempting to go to the dark continent because no matter how horrible the said place is there will always be the drive to discover, explore, document experience and investigate its human nature and even though there are horrors fear will not last forever and nothing will stop the will of exploration not monsters, diseases, terrifying creatures, the unknown or fear of dark knowledge. The reason why i am so sure about this is because humanity hates limits.
So with all the information we have so far, this continent is perhaps the most dangerous and deadly place we know of (But there is also the question how strong or crazy must be all the hunters who are on board so that they have a minimal chance of survival at all).

Honestly, I think it's best they end the series when he does die. Looking at the dark continent, I like it more as a mysterious and terrifying place. Explaining and showing it off will just ruin the mystery and uniqueness around it. Personally, I feel like Togashi should find a way to wrap the story up properly through the Succession War.

I'm wondering now that I've heard all this I wanna ask. Are the island humans dwarfs? Gin mentioned in the dark continent there's a giant tree with a city at its bottom with that and this point stuff out that ive missed Ive come up with some theories.
1. Humans are smaller due to island dwarfism because of how small the islands and their inhabitants literally compare to literally everything that is the dark continent
2. Nen is vestigial we've seen that the islands are dangerous but compared to the hellscape that is the dark continent they wouldn't need to fight quite as hard for life as humans on the mainland do. That's why nen needs to be unlocked, is compartmentalized, has conditions, and why not only can only some people use it but specialists are rare. Nen is on its way out of the gene pool.
My final thoughts on this are what are the mainland humans like? And how different is their society? Personally I'm thinking 10 ft tall gojo's(JJK) flying about with the craziest lifespan you can think of.
I like that one about nen vanishing away from the “modern world’s” people genetics since the environment is not quite chaotic enough to require its usage all the time. Ai(nanika) could be an exemple of that. She healed Gon’s wounds instantly without any form of exchange. Yet it highly implied that it was nen. Some crazy overpowered nen much stronger than any application of nen we had seen before (it was stated that some nen exorcists failed to even comprehend what had happened to Gon). And Kurapika’s Holy chain was seen as extremely OP up to that point in terms of healing. And Ai seems to be able to do pretty much anything it wants using nen. Makes you wonder what nen really is and also about the different species in that crazy world.
