Moki Dugway, Valley of the Gods, Monument Valley, Goosenecks State Park, Mexican Hat, Utah, USA road trip. Please join our successful Facebook group / justdriveamerica
At the top of the Moki Dugway driving up, take the dirt road to the left out to Muley Point. You get a view with the San Juan River Goosenecks below you and Monument Valley in the background. It's about 5 miles out on a partly washboard road. I've done it in a car and is definitely worth the time.
I ran into this the other night on my way to Tuscon, I came from price and just plugged it into maps and away I went, came to the end of the payment and on to dirt road at a 12-15% decline, had me crapping a little. When I got to the bottom, it was a bit of a relief. Lol
We just made the drive down on this road. We are doing the Mighty Five. We had no idea the road even existed. It was a surprise. And , it was a bit scary!
I just became acquainted with what you do and I thank you for this. every year I set out on a road trip from California and I head east avoiding the interstates the majority of the time and not knowing where I’m going or what I will be seeing, taking about 4 to 6 weeks to get it completed and I am going to make this location part of my journey this year thank you so much for sharing this
Last May ('23) I drove west from Minnesota on a 2 week "I wonder where this road goes?" Great way to do a trip, btw. The Moki Dugway, Muley Point, Valley of Gods and Monument Valley is what I found. That's a trip I would do again!✌️
Thank you for posting this, it’s so nice to see when you’re not the one doing the driving, I first drove it more than 15 years ago and it was way more rough and narrow, then about 5 years later and there were improvements but now it’s a decent dirt road still requiring slow speed and full driving attention, it’s remarkable it looks so good after this winters storms.
The views from the top are amazing. The road itself is not that dangerous as some might describe it. It is not that steep and reasonably wide, just take it easy and you are gonna be fine.
Was there this month. When you get to the top and turn left there are some phenomenal camping spots that overlook monument valley. Just take the graded dirt road a couple miles and you will see the overlook. It is beautiful. Dont go when it is raining, the road turns to mud.
Just went down this a few days ago by accident. Going from Natural Bridges NM to Monument Valley it was the direct route. Even with the initial warning sign I had no idea what was coming. Cresting the edge of the mesa and seeing nothing but 1200 foot cliffs and a gravel road was a shock and intense. My wife loved the views. I just focused on the road, about 7mph the whole way down. Glad I did it, but no hurry to do it again.
I just hit the Dugway several days ago, going up: pavement suddenly ended and we chickened out. Apple Maps sent us that way; and Siri got annoyed when we turned around! We went the long way around. Thanks for the video; I’ll try it next time!
It is a beautiful drive up or down. Nothing to be scared of. Just a twisting winding road with some fairly steep gradient to it. As long as you keep your vehicle on the road, everything is just fine.
Drove also up and down in 2018 it was a stunning drive but what a loved the most was Valley of the Gods down there . Hope to see you one day commenting one of my videos …😉👍 it’s not a one way! 🤪 Have a great week Serge H&S 👩❤️👨🌈🇨🇦
The first time i drove it two things happened at the same time; i fell in love with it and it scared rhe hell out of me FYI On the approach from Mexican Hat there's a turnoff for Goosenecks of the San Juan SP ;Take It !
Discovered this by accident AT NIGHT back in 2014 trying to cut the time from Natural Bridges to Phoenix. It's fun at night too. If you want a demonstration of how fast to NOT go down this, adjust the speed of the video to x2. 😂
we took this shortcut to get to the arches monument park. i loved it. My wife was doing breathing excercises similar to when she gave birth and promised to "cut me" if I did this on purpose to her. Lucky for me she believed it was a gps short cut error and I promised on my live never to do this to her again!
I drove this both ways for a week. The hiking on Cedar Mesa is incredible!

Hot tip; thanks!
Drove up Moki in my 31’ RV
Pulled over close to edge to let a big rig with flatbed trailer go by
As he passed by slowly he said Thank you
Drove up and down Moki Dugway in 2015, outstanding drive!

Awesome, Aussie here, I drove this in 2007 in a crown vic, what a great drive :):):), would love to see a doco on its construction :)

Note to self… SEE UTAH BEFORE U DIE🤩
I drove it about a year and a half ago. It was a pleasant surprise. Once on top, the drive to Hanksville was very scenic too.
Another great video , the drive looked scary, but views stunning

Excellent video. I had to share to my FB. A riding brother took me downhill here in our HD baggers. the ride was exhilarating.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Very well made video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
I drove this road in a 28 foot moving van. I got through it, but I won't drive a big truck on it again...
As a little kid in the 1950's I was scared to death on our regular trips up and down, mostly at night.
Ford Edge AWD was great at this road ;)

I want to do this on my motorcycle.
I can't see why not. Beautiful views from the top!
Taking my KLR on a S Utah trip (from CO) in the spring...I’m so stoked for this and all the other cool places. Hope your ride is soon, and good.

Can you drive a UTV on it?
I guess it's got to be street legal recreation.utah.gov/off-highway-vehicles/ohv-registration-and-permits/street-legal-ohv-requirements/
