That first guy who played the hillbilly, his heart must have sank when he thought he was going to flag you with what seemed to be a fairly equal position and you had only 19 seconds left and then only of a sudden you went beast mode and checkmated him 7 seconds later 😂😂
You're so good at explaining plans to beginners. I think a lot of beginners struggle figuring out what to do in the middle game, but you make it easy to understand. Thank you again for the great instruction and chess content!
No joke I think this is the best caro kann video on RUclips. Practical, to the point, instructive, and loaded with info. This channel is gold, so glad I found it
This channel is so instructive and at the same time easy and pleasant to watch. I don't have much free time at all but I've been dedicating my Sunday mornings watching your videos and trying out your suggestions and having fun with it. I want to thank you Alex for single handedly taking me to 1000 elo with the Vienna and the Caro Kann. For absolutely free. This almost feels like a robbery 🙏🙏
just finished game 2 this is insane ..thank you so much there’s no video on caro with such in depth instructions! thank you so much alex.. i have a question could you please share some tips on how to calculate..my biggest weakness by far
This is yet another damn good video mate.. you made me go to 1200 in such a short time. Cheers mate! I’ve been recommending your video’s to all my chess playing mates and there is instant growth. Good luck with the channel!
Love the videos Alex. I feel super confident whenever I see E4. This is only from your Caro videos. I have your London Course, but still have trouble remembering the different lines and plans in the London compared to the Caro. Can you do some more London videos please?
Thanks for this. It has been very instructional for me! I am so happy to have found one video that covers all this, combined with the quality of commentary you provide.
So proud that I find Kd2 on my first try!!!. Brings your queen faster to the attack, and not having any pawn break, the king it´s safe in the middle. Having watched a recap with Firutza game helped...
I love your content, you deliver everything in a very engaging way whilst keeping it entertaining but informative and insightful. Thank you for increasing over 5k people's caro kann!
Sir you're like the best teach on this platform I've taken so many classes also the masterclass of honorable Garry Kasparov but still ur teaching is the best
Big fan of you for the way you perfectly explain the thinking process while managing the time. Also you have many caro-kann videos and they are all amazing !!
Thanks, Alex!! You're an excellent chess instructor. I'm looking forward to learning how you play the white pieces AGAINST black playing the Caro-Kann defense . 😇
Thank you for explaining the minority attack here. I came here after you mentioned it in your course. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but it might be nice if the course just had one move-trainer on the minority attack (maybe in the quickstarter?)
I agree I really like his analogies / I find them funny hahaha hilarious even Cheers all the best looking for a new white side opening ???!!! Any suggestions? Cheers
I just purchased your London chessable course and its easily the best course I have ever encountered. Can't wait for the Caro Kann one . I'm hoping it will help me break 2000 elo
As always i am in awe, the only downside is that the high admiration of your skill is directly proportional to the melancholy that i feel that i would never be able to reach the 10% of your capability.
At 1:09:30, can't you just play Qa5 and then pick up the bishop? Since his knight cannot defend against the check AND defend the bishop anymore. Or what am I missing?
I LOVE THE CAPTION......I believe it too...and i think caro kann extends to life too.....u should write a book on caro kann adaptive to urban reality and the uses and similarities of it. If you wont then I WILL...ON YOUR BEHALF.
Hi, master! Can u do a video playing the Semi-Slav as a reverse Colle System? And maybe explain some middlegame ideas for that triangle structure? God bless u!
You are really good at explaining while bringing in some nice humour! Could you please make another Vienna Video? The other Vienna videos were insanely entertaining and instructive!
Beast ending on the hillbilly! Thanks for your Caro-Kann stuff, I have successfully reached nearly 50-50 win-loss ratio when playing black.......but I still can't seem to get over the 600 mark. I remain patient and try to learn :D
Great video. Thanks! I don't think I've heard "Wearing an imaginary suit" before (around 33min). Wondering if it's an Internet meme I missed or maybe a phrase translated Romanian that we don't have in English? The only thing I can think of is a reference to the Emperor's New Clothes, but it doesn't quite fit the context.
also you mentioned that there will be a caro course!! may i ask what more will it provide i mean i mentioned before that a year ago i bought a caro course from a very famous youtuber and it wasn’t good i didn’t start playing the caro until i actually discovered your channel ..
At 24:44, instead of qxe3+ if qxg7, why can't we go qxb2? If qxh8, qxa1+, ke2, qxh1, qxg7, qxh2. If 0-0 to stop this, our queen is safe and we take queen on bxg7. If rb1, qxb1+, nxb1, bxg7 and we are up a rook and a knight.
Hi Alex and thanks for yours videos and your courses on Cheessable that I bought... they are so instructives. In the game 4, what do you you think after Bg5.. play Queen on b6? I think it's a good move too, don't you?
Oh so sorry... I didn't explain well. At the start of the game, you ask a question... if white play 5- Bg5, what do you play? Your main answer is Bg4xf3. I analyse this position and I saw that 5-....Qb6 was playable but, after reflexion, I think your move is simply better. Thanks Alex@@AlexBanzea
I missed taking a rook with a pawn today because I was worried that the rook was lining up my king in check and I heard Alex’s voice saying “You look to counter attack opponent, buuuuttt you miss and this is why you are 700”
Hopefully you see my comment. First of all love your videos :) At the last game, game 8 around 1:09:39 when bishop takes knight and he recaptures with knight why you didnt check his King with Queen to win his white bishop?
Yes, I saw that too and came to the Comments to see if anyone else had already mentioned it. Looks like a miss to me also. But hey! Even IMs make mistakes when making high-quality teaching videos. Thanks, Alex!
Alex was going for checkmate, the object of the game, and he was successful!!! Why take pieces when you can get a checkmate? It's called MOMENTUM !!! Once you have it and you're attacking....go for the mate!!!😇
@@_photonx6017 saw the same thing (only because I have watch so many of his videos) and did the same as you came to the comments to see if anyone else saw it. I would love to know if he missed it or just ignored it and proceeded with the instruction on the typical Caro
The one thing I don't understand, is when they play the advanced and we play Nc6, why don't they ever take on cx5 as a reply? It seems they always play either c3 or Nf3. I don't get it.
I watched this a while ago and it was all about the minority attack. Now it appears that the contents have changed. Is the CK minority attack video still available?
I want to know, what happens after, E4, C6, D4, D5, E5, C5, D takes the C pawn, Black is a pawn down, it looks like White can keep either the e pawn or c pawn. 😀
You can now...check out my Caro course! www.chessable.com/the-caro-kann-simplified/course/171080/
That first guy who played the hillbilly, his heart must have sank when he thought he was going to flag you with what seemed to be a fairly equal position and you had only 19 seconds left and then only of a sudden you went beast mode and checkmated him 7 seconds later 😂😂
Lol! 🤣
@AlexBanzea I love your analogies...too hilarious
I was like, “it can’t be that bad…” then I got there and I was like “oh, it is that bad” 😂😂
You're so good at explaining plans to beginners. I think a lot of beginners struggle figuring out what to do in the middle game, but you make it easy to understand. Thank you again for the great instruction and chess content!

'I've gotta speed up with this, there's no increment'
*IM mode activated*
7 seconds of premoving chaos ensues.
Love it mate
Had a lot of success with the Caro lately thanks to your videos, one of my favourite openings for Black at the moment!
Banzea you're a bloody genius. I won so many games with this stuff.
1350 rating and I have used Caro based on Alex idea and I can't believe how strong my positions are. Just fun. You are a great coach.

Thanks a lot for the support ❤️
this is the only channel teaching the Caro-Kann in details FOR FREE on youtube !! Thank you ❤❤
Love the videos Alex. I feel super confident whenever I see E4. This is only from your Caro videos. I have your London Course, but still have trouble remembering the different lines and plans in the London compared to the Caro. Can you do some more London videos please?
I pause almost every time you say and I do find the "winning move" (about 90% of the time) : both super instructive and satisfying 👌
Thanks for this. It has been very instructional for me! I am so happy to have found one video that covers all this, combined with the quality of commentary you provide.
Alex you are the star!! Looking forward to your upcoming Caro- Kann course :)
So proud that I find Kd2 on my first try!!!. Brings your queen faster to the attack, and not having any pawn break, the king it´s safe in the middle.
Having watched a recap with Firutza game helped...
I literally said Alireza-esque when you played Kd7. I've grown to love his playstyle! Great video Alex!
i have so much fun with the caro, thanks to you, cheers!
What a great video! Alex is the King of making instructive videos. Well done.... again!
Happy to came around this Channel, since im a caro Player but sometimes feel lack of space in Position where this Video definitely helps✌🏼
you're an incredible teacher. thanks so much for these videos and all the work you put into them!
Just wanted to say that I love the content. You seem like a genuine and good guy. Keep it up mate.
he plays d4
Game 8 taking back with the knight on f3 blunders queen a5 like you literally talked about @1:09:32
Forgot about that! Was too focused on showing the minority Attack haha
Keep it up. Extremely instructive. I love the humour.
The best speedrun-like video I have ever watched. Perfect explanation on every move and idea. Keep it up 🎉
Great content Alex, thank you!
Was choosing what to study between French and Caro Kann, decided to go with the latter cause of your free teaching thanks
That first game still instructive and still slappin. Model game
Thank you for explaining the minority attack here. I came here after you mentioned it in your course. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but it might be nice if the course just had one move-trainer on the minority attack (maybe in the quickstarter?)
Alex is an IM in chess but he's a GM in making analogies :-)
I agree I really like his analogies / I find them funny hahaha hilarious even Cheers all the best looking for a new white side opening ???!!! Any suggestions? Cheers
extremely instructive. I'm checking chessable daily just to see if your course is published
thanks for the great videos, I'm genuinely enjoying them and hope to learn something from it.
I really enjoy playing the Caro Kann, I win a lot of games but sometimes I loose in the end games even with the advantage.
31:28 You get the wooden spoon. lmao im dying, awesome video man
I just purchased your London chessable course and its easily the best course I have ever encountered. Can't wait for the Caro Kann one . I'm hoping it will help me break 2000 elo
Thanks for teaching a basic but effective opening such as Caro-Kann. I learn a lot with you
I watched too many videos that you encourage me to play Caro-Kann and it brings me a confidence when playing black. Thank Bruh
As always i am in awe, the only downside is that the high admiration of your skill is directly proportional to the melancholy that i feel that i would never be able to reach the 10% of your capability.
Great video very helpfull, cheers from a fellow compatriot to another!
At 1:09:30, can't you just play Qa5 and then pick up the bishop? Since his knight cannot defend against the check AND defend the bishop anymore. Or what am I missing?
That works yes! I forgot about it cause usually White had Nc3 to defend.
26:00 How to answer 1.B-g5. 1.--- B×N, 2.B×Q B×Q, and both bishops are under attack and black is a peice up.
At 46:52 my 10 guesses were:
f6
Rg8
Rc8
a5
O-O
h5
Na5
Qc7
Qd7
Bf8
Safe to say a king move was not on my radar lol!
Always a good day when Alex uploads. Best chess videos out there!!
I LOVE THE CAPTION......I believe it too...and i think caro kann extends to life too.....u should write a book on caro kann adaptive to urban reality and the uses and similarities of it. If you wont then I WILL...ON YOUR BEHALF.

Master Alex i really liked Game 4 Adv Variation. Turns out am gonna buy your course and learn from you.
Enjoying these Caro vids.
Hi Alex.
Your videos are great.
Please publish PGNs of the games.
Thanks any how.
Beast ending on the hillbilly! Thanks for your Caro-Kann stuff, I have successfully reached nearly 50-50 win-loss ratio when playing black.......but I still can't seem to get over the 600 mark. I remain patient and try to learn :D
Wasn't Qa5+ fork a winning move at 1:09:32? I think you missed it while talking but I might not be seeing something you saw.
I forgot about it, you are right!
Free bishop @ 1:09:30missed? Or is it better to continue as shown?
Was not looking for the free bishop as I was zoned in on the following 'Minority Attack' lol
I'm just curious, I really love your content. Thank you for the dedication. Your jokes are great.
19:30 why do you not go with pawn c4?
When does the Chessable course release!!!
Great video. Thanks!
I don't think I've heard "Wearing an imaginary suit" before (around 33min). Wondering if it's an Internet meme I missed or maybe a phrase translated Romanian that we don't have in English? Thx Alex, I'm 1650 and all of that help a lot
also you mentioned that there will be a caro course!! may i ask what more will it provide i mean i mentioned before that a year ago i bought a caro course from a very famous youtuber and it wasn’t good i didn’t start playing the caro until i actually discovered your channel ..
Bro I think you have a bright future in content creation if you want it. Work on your brand continually and you're set.
Can you pls show caro games on how to battle the panov and accelerated panov?
I've been working on learning the Caro Kann, but somehow end up playing the Caro Kan't, everytime.
Hi Alex and thanks for yours videos and your courses on Cheessable that I bought... they are so instructives. In the game 4, what do you you think after Bg5.. play Queen on b6? I think it's a good move too, don't you?
Isn’t that what I played?
Oh so sorry... I didn't explain well. At the start of the game, you ask a question... if white play 5- Bg5, what do you play? Your main answer is Bg4xf3. I analyse this position and I saw that 5-....Qb6 was playable but, after reflexion, I think your move is simply better. Thanks Alex@@AlexBanzea
At 01:09:40, could black's queen then put the white king in check by moving to H4 then pick up free bishop?
that's a good find! was too focused on showing the typical minority attack haha
I missed taking a rook with a pawn today because I was worried that the rook was lining up my king in check and I heard Alex’s voice saying “You look to counter attack opponent, buuuuttt you miss and this is why you are 700”
At 1:09:33 you had Qa5 to win the bishop?
1:01:18 minority attack. just leaving a timestamp cause im gonna be coming back to this part of the video a lot in the future
@52:55 what is the program that he used there pls ?ChessBase ?
chessbase 17
Caro is easy to follow, thx
Hopefully you see my comment. First of all love your videos :)
At the last game, game 8 around 1:09:39 when bishop takes knight and he recaptures with knight why you didnt check his King with Queen to win his white bishop?
Yes, I saw that too and came to the Comments to see if anyone else had already mentioned it. Looks like a miss to me also.
But hey! Even IMs make mistakes when making high-quality teaching videos. Thanks, Alex!

So simle an so good explanation
Since learning these patterns my life has changed immensely I really feel at one with the universe and Jesus talks to me
thanks for the content...
27:35 the knights not pinned anymore u can’t take that pawn on d4 with the queen no
Great great great video!
Great channel, great content
WOW! Fantastic!
Great video
Coach can u make another video about slav defense? Thank u
1:09:50 not blunder piece?
The one thing I don't understand, is when they play the advanced and we play Nc6, why don't they ever take on cx5 as a reply? It seems they always play either c3 or Nf3. I don't get it.
multumim de video
I watch for the analogies- priceless
I love your videos!
I watched this a while ago and it was all about the minority attack. Now it appears that the contents have changed. Is the CK minority attack video still available?
Nice , so many games)
last game at 1.09.31 why 8...e6 and not 8...Qa4+ doesn't that pick up the bishop?
Watching Alex turn it on in game one and smoke that guy in 9 seconds was mental 😂
Do you have an affordable full caro kann course?
Can you make a video explaining principles?
I want to know, what happens after, E4, C6, D4, D5, E5, C5, D takes the C pawn, Black is a pawn down, it looks like White can keep either the e pawn or c pawn. 😀
Epic first game.
underrated
29:28 what a crumbling avalance after that, and for what, keeping queen, man he has to get used to play more without a queen
Excelente
30:10 Lmaooooo 😂😂🤭
