@@AlexBanzea It's the best move in that position. I recently had this same game up through move 12...O-O, and the opp blundered a pawn and an Exchange around move 17. I won by move 28. Thanks for your guidance!
I won’t lie. I saw your videos as a suggested and for some reason never clicked as I thought, oh another person trying to be like Gotham, probably won’t be able to take anything from this that Gotham hasn’t gone through. Well, one night I decided I’d click a video of yours! I was so wrong, not only have I learned a lot from your videos (only been watching for a week or so now) but I 100% rather your videos :) keep up the good work!
Just wanted to drop by and leave a quick comment to show my appreciation to what you're doing for the global chess community! Hats off to you Alex for the great and instructional content!
Love the video. Always struggled playing the Caro. Always felt like I was always 1 tempo behind and that my attack was always just too slow. This might revitalize my attitude towards it.
Good stuff. I noticed a nice move, imagine that. @44:29 your opponent played f3 however that cut off all retreating squares for the g5 knight so just Nxd2 then h6 seems to win. "Seems to win."
At 16:11 Qa5 is also not so good cause you can just get kicked out with b4. Qxb4 can’t happen cause you lose everything, so you gotta move the queen, you lost a move and he just starts gaining space and that knight on b5 keeps being really annoying. Correct me if I’m wrong.
"okay...opponent playing.........really really strange" @55:30 - This is exactly what I am talking about when I say most of the time I play Caro Kann I get this kind of random weirdness. "They never play what they play in your videos". Exactly what I mean...many players at 500 do not play "right" against Caro Kann and mostly do strange things like this game.....surprised to see it at this much higher level! :D
1:45 "Uh...or maybe not." Doh! The heft of that roll check! OMG. So hilarious. Had just been watching MC in a video where he had the same kind of thing happen mid rant. Human chess drama is so exhilarating. Very entertaining! Keep up the good work.
jw @34:47, if opponent plays bishop f4 it looks like you have to take with the queen, which their queen can then take b7 pawn followed up by your rook.. Is there some defense to that? I don't get why it'd be necessary for opponent to play their knight e2 before bishop f4. --- JK.. looks like you'd go queen c1 checkmate if they took your pawn..
Re: the Thumbnail I admit I was making this same mistake constantly as that unprotected b7 pawn looks juicy but once I bought Alex’s Caro-Kann course no more! Use that Queen supported bishop! This position happens too often!
The book amateurs mind by jeremy silman tells you to attack where ur pawns are pointing to so that might be why peopke make the 'mistake' in the thumbnail
Good to know that the most brilliant chess master is also capable of spilling his coffee. Reminds us that we're all human. Like Christopher Walken said in the famous Saturday Night Live skit, "I put my pants on one leg at a time. Then I make hit records! .. More cowbell!" :)
I'm quite surprised the engine evaluated Qd3 then Re1 in the advance caro position as great moves, did you eventually find out if they have a refutation or is the engine correct?
Please consider doing videos analysing the "Chess Boxing Games" great opportunity to grow your channel. Also I would love to hear someone cover the Disguised Toast come from behind win!
6:05 - Why can the knight take on d4? I didn't get it. It seems the bishop can capture the rook, but then you loose a knight and a bishop for a rook and a pawn. Not sure if that's a good trade at that point of the game. Is there other tactic I can't see?
Are you allowed to tell us when/if you have a Caro Kann course coming out? Itching to get a new opening course but would totally wait if you have something coming out in the near future.
@@enavantpourlaventure You are speaking specifically about the advance variation of the Caro Kann. From what I understand, white does not take on c5 because it would leave its two central pawns isolated, and even a central pawn deviated from the center to the side ( the d4 pawn moving to c5 ). It doesn't feel like a strong move. Ideally, it is better to keep strong and stable pawns in the center if possible. ( They are here to help your major pieces come to the center and apply pressure on the whole board ).
My new fav youtuber ❤ Maybe you should try 10 minutes rapid for these games or 5 + 2 sexonds?? Allows for more time to explain the ideas. Naroditsky does 15 minutes rapid now and it’s definitely not boring. He used to do 10 minutes but 15 seems to works better. I don’t even play 5 minutes online because I blunder pieces 😂 But with 10 minutes I can get a decent game of chess!!
@@AlexBanzeathanks man… already studying your london now before you become ultra viral… I am sure you will if you keep up the good work… greetings from Greece
I often wonder if people are using an engine when I watch you play. For example, Mark3103 was finding every good move in the position and then at 20s vs 3s he got dirty flagged? I feel like that is very suspicious
Clicked on this because I literally made the mistake in the thumbnail five freaking minutes ago. I know it’s usually a mistake, but it didn’t look like a mistake. Spoilers: it was.

Never give up on the Caro! Pretty sure it can be fixed with a few details here and there
Great video on the Caro Kann with some cool tactics. Looking forward to your Chessable course!

Maybe the weak piece after moving the queen on 2:50 was the knight left on c3?
@1:46 this is the Qd3 is the best computer move according to stockfish. Not that he's cheating but might have found a loop hole in the prep.

april next year!

Alex I bought your caro chessable course. It really needs some middle game ideas. Like when to break with F6 pawn
There’s is all you need to know there, probably you missed it…anyways the plan is to make a separate course for middlegames etc
What's your favourite opening for both colours?
Caro-London-kings indian
