Yep, I know my husbands went up! He's been keto 5+ years trust me it went way up.🤣
I feel like it's the same for women! As soon as I went keto 5+ years ago , weight came off, my PCOS turned around & next thing you know I'm having a period EVERY 28 days like clockwork! I'll be 52 in Nov and I'm still regular! I'll tell you what unlike most of my life with the absence of periods & no ovulating... I'm EXTREMELY careful now 😬

At around 51 I was in full menopause and was placed on HRT. I stopped after 2 years and went keto. I am 58 and I am producing estrogen at about 70%. So absolutely no hot flashes or other nasty symptoms at all and the more weight comes off the more my other labs seem to get better. I've contributed often on your channel.
I went keto-vore 11/21. I've had an enlarged prostate for over 10 years. Urinary issues came and went, but 2021 was seeing more of this problem.
My health insurance changed for the better, which is great when you are a senior citizen. I decided that my hemheroids, that I've had since my 20's, had to go.
The surgeon wanted to see what he was in for, inspected thoroughly. In a surprised voice, he said, "your prostate is normal!" This was only 4 months after my diet changed. I then noticed all of my urinary issues have vanished. Wooo!
    Testosterone vs prostate....
I've peers who have dealt with prostate issues, 2 with cancer. These two went through treatment that reduced testosterone to zero.
This is where I am confused. I know that the form of testosterone responsible for prostate issues is DHT. Yet, with more free testosterone, I am experiencing a normal prostate, and I still have a libido. Is there a study on this?
As an elder male, my mantra is, "keep insulin low, testosterone high." I started this diet to lose weight, but now, I do it to be healthy, feel good...
I watching so many peers still eating crap, others, devout vegans. They're all fat, most not that healthy. The vegans are doing ok health wise, but seem "soft" in a masculine way. They'd like a female in their lives, but just cannot attract any. Maybe females can smell low T.

Thanks for your comment. I share your mantra - "keep insulin low, testosterone high." I am 71 and since going very low carb I have seen huge improvements with prostate/urinary issues. Exercise plays a key role for me - minimal sitting and several yoga poses to open, relax, and strengthen pelvic floor and improve blood flow. For me prostate health is a holistic endeavor - diet, exercise, visualization, sleep, etc. All the organs are connected and need to work in harmony. If the prostate is having issues it's not just the prostate. The prostate does not live in a vacuum. Good points in your comment. I believe there are studies on free T and prostate health. One problem I see is when researchers 'atom-split' that prostate they miss the big picture.

    • @danL1011
      @danL1011 2 года назад +3

[The vegans are doing ok health wise]
They might appear that way b/c they aren't eating crap like your other friends and so aren't overweight. But if you look at their brittle hair, sallow skin and rapid aging, you might think differently.
[but seem "soft" in a masculine way.]
Perhaps that is the origin of the term "soy boy" as in phytoestrogen.

Testosterone goes up due to the decline in belly fat which stores / releases estrogen. Estrogen inhibits endogenous testosterone. Carbs / sugar in your diet, along with stress, leads to higher visceral fat. It becomes a viscous cycle. If you have visceral fat, you have a constant release of estrogen. As a result, you are constantly inhibiting your testosterone, which makes it harder to build muscle, which in turn makes it harder to burn your belly fat. Another way to significatnly boost your testosterone is to sun tan your testicles for 10 min in the morning, or to use red light therapy on them. I bought a Joov red light machine and saw an immediate difference the next morning if you know what I mean ;-)

I can attest to eating more carbs contributes to struggles with managing testosterone. I have been on TRT for over 30 years and my insulin level was converting to fat and then that fat stored estrogen which gets converted from testosterone. My endo actually was ok with me fasting because it changed my blood work so much and she said doing that regularly and dropping my insulin levels was key to helping manage testosterone. So kind of curious to see what she says next year when I do blood work with fasting and carnivore.

I decided to exercise, good source of natural fat, protein, very low carb and no sugar. that made a big difference in my life. Try, test it and see what works the best for you. You can buy Testosterone test without a doctor's referral. In just 1 month can make a big difference. Also, no more heartburn pills that i took for more than 10 years! :)
