      Unfortunately, if we allowed them one thing could result, they could undercut British workers, that is the risk in some sectors of employment, meaning we would be pricing ourselves
      out of the work force, unless we take the earnings from them in full and give them a small amount back to cover housing them in hotels.

      Stopping payments and hotel accommodations for illegal immigrants and refugees would likely lead to increased homelessness, higher crime rates, public health issues, and strained charities. It could damage the country's reputation, disrupt asylum processes, hurt local economies, and risk violating international law. Instead of solving problems, it would create widespread social and economic chaos.

    • @TAM-tf7ul
      @TAM-tf7ul Месяц назад +4

      @susanburch3202 you're right to a degree, but it still doesn't change the fact that work requires incentive.
      As is already mentioned, taxes; favouring of 'minorities' and illegals; sending aid elsewhere. And the housing crisis along with the cost of living.
      Your poor anyway. The idea of 'hard work' will get you out of poverty is an old idea. Hard work isn't valued in the 'gig' economy.
      It's a simple choice, stay poor working yourself to the bone, or stay poor being lazy.
      And people made their choice.

    • @intelligenceofacertainkind
      @intelligenceofacertainkind Месяц назад

      @@susanburch3202so in other words every pensioner who is struggling to heat their homes was a layabout when they were younger and only have themselves to blame?
      That's utter rubbish. Every pensioner currently struggling to heat their homes - had worked hard in the past. In fact the harder they worked, the poorer they now are. I'll point you to ex-miners, ex factory workers.
      Who in their right mind would look at this actual reality before our very eyes and think 'hard work is really incentivised and valued in our society'.
      Work can bring self respect, purpose, and responsibility over your life - but for most people in this country, with exorbitant housing costs, high cost of living, massive job instability, zero career progression, taxes - hard work is absolutely not rewarded on any level. In fact you are actively punished for hard work.

      Yeah, then crime rates would likely skyrocket as people are forced into desperate situations just to survive. The police already struggle to respond to crimes effectively due to underfunding, and prisons are overfilled. On top of that, the rise in crime would mean higher insurance premiums for everyone, and businesses would face losses from theft or vandalism, leading to more closures and job losses.
      Let’s not forget the strain it would put on social services and healthcare, as people cut off from benefits may still need help but lack legal or safe avenues to get it.
      Instead of solving problems, this would create chaos: increased poverty, homelessness, and societal tension.

      A thoughtful response to this statement could address the underlying concerns while highlighting the broader context and offering constructive perspectives:
      "It’s true that speaking the language of the country you live in is important for integration, employment, and contributing to society. Many immigrants actively work hard to learn English, but it’s not always easy, especially for those juggling family responsibilities or starting with no formal education in their native language.
      However, cracking down might not be the answer. Instead, investing in accessible and affordable English classes can help people integrate faster and contribute more effectively. As for interpreters, they’re often essential for newcomers to navigate legal, healthcare, and education systems, ensuring they can participate in society without being left behind.
      Speaking other languages, like French or Spanish, doesn’t always mean someone is fluent-they might know enough for specific situations but struggle in others. Rather than focusing on punishment or exclusion, fostering opportunities for people to learn and thrive creates a stronger, more united society for everyone."

    Sooo simple to fix this… reduce retirement to 62 years old. Will free up a million jobs overnight..
    Make sure pension is a decent payment. 😉

    • @andyroberts5210
      @andyroberts5210 Месяц назад

      Lowering the retirement age to 62 might seem like an easy way to free up jobs, but it could cause a lot of problems. Paying pensions earlier means the government would need much more money, which might lead to higher taxes or cuts in other services like healthcare. It could also make pension systems run out of money faster.
      Many jobs require special skills and experience, and retiring workers can’t always be replaced quickly. This could leave some industries, like healthcare or teaching, struggling to find enough workers. Plus, some people might not be able to afford to retire at 62, even if the pension amount is better.
      A better way to solve job shortages might be to create new jobs in areas like renewable energy or technology, or help people get training for the jobs that are available. Flexible options, like letting older workers gradually cut down their hours, could also help while keeping their skills in the workforce.

      @@GaryTaylor-gp2qc As already mentioned, there is no sense of nationalism, so why pay your way forward in Taxes? so it can be spent on illegals? You work, to generate money that in the end is not meant to fund you as a native, it goes elsewhere.. like abroad, or for those that are seen to be 'minorities'.
      Respectfully, you can sit there and talk of ' shame'. When the only real shame is going to work full-time, to be taxed.. and you make next to nothing. While you watch people that can't speak English get their lifestyle funded. And that assumes you don't land on the 100's of job applications, that are actually not hiring; they are essentially data harvesting; under the guise of a job, and selling that data on.
      Nothing works, And i am not surprised so many are on welfare. The native population are literally watching, as the unscrupulous get paid for being so, while the honest get shafted in every direction. Mental health is the least of the problems, but absolutely a by product of the real problems. So it actually does cut it.

      @andyroberts5210 Месяц назад

      No, unemployed youths are not "living it up" in hotels. Hotels are typically used as temporary accommodation for asylum seekers or people in urgent housing crises, not for unemployed citizens. These individuals are often in hotels because there isn’t enough affordable housing or proper facilities to accommodate them elsewhere.
      As for unemployed youths, they face different challenges. Many struggle with finding jobs due to a lack of experience, skills gaps, or limited opportunities in their area. Instead of focusing on who's in hotels, a better question might be: How can we create more opportunities for young people and ensure everyone has access to stable housing and jobs? Solving these issues benefits the entire community.

    My wife has MS, her main symptoms are fatigue and balance issues. She was rejected for PIP. She is having to work. She does 5 cleaning jobs each week. It's 2 hours each day. as a result of those 2 hours each day, she has to spend the rest of the day in bed until she has to pick up our kids from school, then rest on the sofa after the school run. She's been in tears so many times saying she's fed up feeling like she's going to die every day and people saying she's so lucky to spend each day in bed. It takes so much out of her for £20 each day. How is it she has a diagnosis from the hospital, paperwork to prove this, and scan results yet still she gets rejected while others can self diagnose mental health issues or play the system and claim everything? The thing is, she wants to work she doesn't want to be a burden on society. She even tried going back to office work, but that made her symptoms just as bad if not worse.

    The reason so many young people don't work is the fact we outsourced most manafacturing to foreign countries, mainly China. The only permanent jobs available are retail and healthcare on a mass scale. You can learn a trade but 80% is agency work and unstable. Young men don't want to be in a retail or healthcare environment, can't speak on the women as never spent much time being one.

It was never solved, so why are the government suddenly expecting unstable people to suddenly return back to work, when they haven't heard back from the NHS regarding mental health help in over 5 years???? Ignorance and time doesn't solve a VERY REAL PROBLEM.

    Nobody on benefits is living a comfortable life with the money that you get on benefits alone. That’s just a load of nonsense. Unless they’re up to something on the side.
    Most working people aren’t even living a comfortable life in this current financial climate.
    Young single people on benefits. Yes they would benefit greatly from actually going out and getting a job. The increase in income for them should be appealing to them. But the problem area is couples or single parents, with young families. There just isn’t that appeal there, for them to go out and get a job. Because the pay is not substantial enough to make it worth their while. Unless you are a person with a lot of qualifications where you have your pick of well paying jobs. Or if you have a trade. The jobs that are out there for ordinary adults just don’t pay enough. It’s as simple as that.
    Coming off of benefits, finding a job which means having to find and pay for child care and all the extra financial outgoings just eats in to any financial gains at the end of the month. Not to mention adding the stress of work and what that brings. So where is the incentive for the people who fall into that category. Get off your arse and go work so you’re £100 better off each month.
    The solution to the problem. Make the gap between being on benefits and working more financially appealing and you solve the problem. Stop bringing in foreigners to do the jobs, put the wage up and people will actually do them. Most men will literally do any job if it pays well at the end of the day.

I showed my qualifications of a teacher and asked them to advise me about what types of jobs I could do. I even went to an afternoon session about how to write a CV. Of course, I knew how to do this. I then had a session with a 'job advisor' who knew nothing and didn't even suggest any types of jobs available for me. The whole bloody process was pathetic. The staff really knew nothing. What a waste of government money. No one had any spark, any idea, any knowledge. I would've sacked everyone I dealt with.
