Thank you so much for sharing this detailed video. Great job and certainly helped me. Wanted that 3D affect and this has it and showed me how. I struggled with the nostrils but your tutorial made it truly so much easier for me. I also enjoyed your explanations and the steps. Great job and thank you again. I'm 72 years young and love to learn.

@@janetalbot6529 In the meantime, check out this speed painting of a black lab mix with a greying nose... you can see how i use a combination of light black washes and white gouache to try to blend the two together. I will create a specific video for you still, but just saw this and thought this could give you some ideas for now! :) ruclips.net/video/MMZ2tJ1XT78/видео.html

What is a "neutral tint" that you refer to for the darks on the second step on the nostrils?
Since you used Indigo for the base would that be somewhere in an orange? I know the colors across the color wheel from a certain color can neutralize that first color, but I am lost right now and can't think straigt! lol

It’s a shade of black that I use from Daniel Smith paints called Neutral Tint. danielsmith.com/neutral-tint-15ml-tube-daniel-smith-extra-fine-watercolor/

Indigo is more a dark blue shade of black in the Daniel Smith line, more like a navy. Often times blacks will reflect a blue undertone and so I like to start with a blue base and add more real blacks to it like Neutral Tint. This way the blues end up in the highlights of the darks. I hope that helps!
