Bought mine last year. First Bike after some years away. Love the Looks, riding position and Handling for the sort of riding i do in south Germany. I have the Standard Pipes so the sound is disappointing, and the Front Brake does not inspire confidence. But no regrets at all And i love opening the garage door and seeing her.
It's a fun bike to ride (I had the army green one), I did 9 days through Scotland with it.. but for adventures like that, it breaks your body by the end of the day. The rear shocks are too stiff, the seat is pretty hard. But it was my first bike so it will always have a place in my heart. Easy to ride, also for the pillion. People will look at you when riding one, that's a fact.
2 years ago, I lived in Amersham and bought a Triumph America with the same engine characteristic and thereby also the lovely sound. Perfect for the Chiltern area's twisty back roads (oh I miss them...). Took the machine with me back to Denmark and I'm still loving every single mile on it.
+Wielandt MC Touring Glad I was able to bring back some Chiltern memories for you! Should I be putting Denmark on my list of countries to visit with the bike??
+TheMissendenFlyer Yes you should definitely do that. I'll be more than happy to arrange a half a day's summer ride out and show you Denmark as it looks in my part of the country. You could make it a convenient stop on a longer trip to fantastic Norway - and do a Scandinavian Tour ??
Took my Street Triple in for its 6K service today and this was the bike they loaned me. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised!! Absolutely love the look of the machine, and it was a comfortable, smooth ride too. Could really see myself riding around on a summers sunday afternoon 'posing' as you say!
I really need to get the Arrow put on mine! Great review. I've had mine for 3 months now and am very happy with it. My only real grumble is the fuel light. It's crap and very indecisive when it starts to come on. I'd much rather have a fuel gauge. Otherwise, it's great fun and I'm looking forward to customising it.
Good one Phil, glad you're enjoying the bike, I'd love a scrambler in my garage if only I had the room/money/wife for it....and yes, it deserves the Arrow for sure....
Just sold my much loved 1200GS and bought a Tiger 800 RTR and treated myself to one of these as a "keeper".....can't wait to get it. Loved my 1200 though - one of two I've owned - it's strange not seeing it wink at me in the garage...
Quite a change! Lets face it all bikes are brill so I'm sure you'll get on just fine (those Tiger 800's have an awesome engine)....and who doesn't love the sound of that 270 degree crank on the Scrambler...gorgeous! Enjoy....
+TheMissendenFlyer - You know - The old "brown seat" joke. Nudge nudge, wink wink. I know I am ridiculously childish. I blame it on my STR. "The brakes were so poor you soiled your underpants so badly, you were left with a brown seat?" ;-)
I ride a Valkyrie and I'm looking for an additional bike that can run on 'mild' off tarmac roads here in North Yorkshire. Like the look and sound of this bike but would like to see it used off road. The tyres look more like road-bias ones like Metzler Tourances to me - would like to see what I could do with better knoblies like Continental TKC80's...... I guess there's a limit to what you can do on a test bike...
Hi Steve, yeah, I don't think the dealer would have appreciated me green-laning their demo bike! The scrambler looks the part but I think it would be too heavy for serious off-road use, more of a fashion thing than a practical proposition I reckon...great bike though, I really like 'em....
Did you find the acceleration adequate? I am about to buy one. Going from a speed four, looking for a comfortable ride that still fun around the city. Everyone just says they are slow, did you find this thrilling enough?
Very nice review again! Thanks! I really like the seat and tank color combination this scrambler. I also like the new Ducati Scrambler but I still prefer the Triumph.
I'm going to ride the Trans America Trail next year and my current bikes aren't up to it. My Bonneville T120 is too road oriented and too heavy. And my Yamaha TW200 is a bit too under powered and under suspended. I'm giving some serious thought about a Triumph Scrambler. Might still be a bit too big and heavy for some of the more technical off road sections, but I'm not sure. I'm completely happy with the quality of my Bonneville and if the Scrambler is anywhere near as nice as my Bonnie I may just do it.
I’ve just bought this version with a scorpion exhaust kit, and the plate gets very hot, burns my leg through jeans if it get too close. Can anyone recommend a different plate cover which may stop the heat from the exhaust getting through? The bike is awesome though, find the front brake fine, perhaps not as responsive as some but no gripes. No fuel gauge or gear gauge, appreciating the old school feel
Speaking as a chap of advancing years who rode a '68 Triumph Tiger 90 in my youth, the lack of a fuel gauge and poor front brake are absolutely retro; you should try a single leading shoe front drum on a damp day!! All it needs to be totally authentic is a sticking clutch, kick start and a petrol tap. :))
+Geoff Selvidge Is this video more authentic Geoff?? >> ruclips.net/video/q4rDfjzudRY/видео.html Have you seen the new Trumpet classics line-up?? I can feel my wallet twitching.....
It's a really nice bike, first saw it in Jurassic World - It's really nice in an army green colour. Maybe I'll buy one and do it up how I like it when I made bank... Anyday now..
The baffle appears to be out on the bike you tried, and without ear plugs it is pretty loud specially under hard acceleration (harley straight pipe territory) ;) I ride with modified baffle and it's just peeeerfect.
Thank you for the video. I have a 2018 Suzuki GSXS1000 and I'm selling it because its not a pleasant ride. More than anything its the hard ride it gives on bumpy NZ roads that beats me up all the way. Is the suspension on the Scrambler compliant, comfortable and soft? Is the bike comfy for all day cruising? Cheers for any feedback you can pass on.
It's not you, I've got a scrambler and the fuelling can be a bit snatchy at slow speeds, a few mods to the air box/air injection system and a TTP remap sorts that out and adds hp to boot. I shall be doing it to mine this winter. Great review as always, but I will add if you fancy buying a new air cooled triumph twin, I'd get in quick. Apparently due to EU regs the classic twins are going to be 1100 liquid cooled engines.
+Ben 1022 Hi Ben - thanks for the heads up, actually once I'd ridden her for a bit I didn't find it too bad at low speeds, the clutch on this particular machine had a very high biting point compared to what I'm used too and that made it a bit tricky early on in the ride. ...and yes I've read guesses about the forthcoming range in MCN, will be interesting to hear what they come up with, a 270 degree 1100 would sound kind a special ;0)
+Maria Soulountsi Well I only rode the bike for an hour or so, but I didn't notice any issue at all, might not be the same for a pillion with these high level exhausts of course! (I think the standard cans would be fine but some of the aftermarket systems - the Zard for example - specify "not suitable for pillions")......cheers for watching - TMF
I have a question. I absolutely love the Scrambler, the looks, the sound everything. But I have never owned a motorcycle before and I was wondering if this would be suitable as a first bike (you can have it with 35 kW so I would be able to ride it with an A2 licence) ? Any advice?
+The Stig Perfect as a first bike - not so much power you'll immediately ride it into a tree, lowish seat to make manageable and docile handling - good choice I reckon!
+TheMissendenFlyer good to hear! Great review by the way, I'm considering giving one of these a home in my garage next year... Just don't tell the other half yet!
Anyone spot the Mini in a ditch at 11:55?? Ha! Looks like a fantastic bike! Often go by our local Triumph dealer and see it in the window. Want one so much!!
The front brake on those bikes isn't amazing. Norman Hyde used to make a brembo upgrade kit which I have on my Thruxton, makes quite a bit of difference.
Yeah, not sure if they make it anymore. I got he last one they had in stock when I called them up, but maybe they do a new version now. Needed to swap out the master for one off a Thunderbird too as it comes with a much larger caliper.
best looking one from the bonnie range in my opinion. The ignition key is in the wrong place and the fuel cap needs a lock. Did you borrow the bike from Hemel? did you have to sign their test ride form and agree to the £1000 insurance excess? nice video TMF
+Sky Rider Cheers Sky Rider - I agree, best of the Bonneville bunch to look at and to listen too, and easy to mod to make even nicer.....and yes and yes....didn't read the form of course, never realised they snuck in that £1000 excess, sneaky! (especially as they have your credit card details too)!! All that said, they seem like a nice bunch of guys these days - wasn't the case a few years back IMO.....but that's another story!
The Bonneville has to be an all round favourite british bike, just wishing it wasn't so heavy and you didn't have to invest so heavily in after market parts to lighten the load.
+GTs Garage Yeah I'm not sure why they have to be so heavy, that said, the Scrambler didn't feel weighty at all once moving (or particularly at standstill)....but then I am used to lugging my giant GS around. Thanks for watching, good to hear from you again - TMF
+Ann Myers Hi Ann, the Bonnie's are famously low so I reckon it would work a treat for you - that said the Scrambler is slightly taller than the standard bike (for added ground clearance) so best to go and sit on one. The suspension is quite soft so I reckon you'll be ok....good luck with it, great bike! All the best - TMF
+crotchrocket Thanks for the kind words as ever crotchrocket - I imagine it would sound even better with those baffles out (next time I'll take my pliers!!) ;0)
+Dougie “dougster701” Haggerty Yep you can with the standard Triumph exhaust - not the case with all the aftermarket ones though I don't believe (for example the Zard is single rider only if I recall correctly)....
isn't the arrow exhaust not road legal? I want to get one but I'm worrying what it would mean for my insurance riding around with a "non road legal" exhaust
+AnOddGamerChannel ...I'm not sure why they have that stamped on, I think all my exhausts are marked similarly but I've never had an issue with the law or at MOT time.....I wouldn't worry about it (but for your own peace of mind do some googling).....
+TheMissendenFlyer From what I have read its the MOT testers discretion whether or not they pass. Its more an issue with the pipes invalidating your insurance... since they're "not street legal' it invalidates your insurance... Bloody insurance is such a pain in the arse
+AnOddGamerChannel ...I always tell my insurance company that I have after market exhausts fitted, they never ask what type or if they are stamped "not road legal"....but I do agree with your last statement 100%
+TheMissendenFlyer I imagine its never going to be an issue either as long as you dont have to claim. Hopefully I'll never have to claim.... but knowing my luck I'll be the plonker who gets rejected insurance because of the bloody exhaust. Well thanks for replying anyway, if you know of any other decent exhausts for the scrambler it would be much appreciated? Trying to get the dealer to throw one in on a purchase, they agreed to the arrow exhaust before I found out about this "not for road use" malarkey
+Bavarian Biker I must admit I am a fan of modern European bikes - give me a Ducati, BMW or Triumph any day....they all make great bikes and knock spots of the Japanese efforts I reckon....
+DervMan Hi Dervman, yes the ol' scrambler has a lot of potential doesn't it - I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was to ride, sounds fab too, a great Summer cruiser I reckon with the potential for lots of winter man-cave tinkering.....as you say, (another!) for the list.....
+Bizz Cheers Bizz - Must admit they are growing on me, rode much better than I was expecting.....good to hear from you again buddy - All the best - TMF
Yeah i hate the place for the key. I was watching it flip all around when you was riding. Because we never carry just one key. Need house key to get back in our homes. If not then we have to carry 2 sets of keys. On my 2005 Honda VTX they did this also, So yes i just carry the one key for the bike, and another set for all my other stuff. I have a little blue shark bottle opener with the motorcycle key, so i dont lose them if i drop them.
+Jojo Gun Fang Yes good point, I guess Triumph are doing this for "retro" reasons but having the ignition on the side isn't very practical....but to be fair having more than one key on your fob on any bike is always a recipe for getting things scratched (so I only have one key on separate fobs for each of my bikes). Thanks for stopping by - all the best - TMF.
Nice Ride / Review !!! Like that color scheme on that sweet bike !!! ;) The Gauges, sounds, and ride-ability remind me of my 02 Monster... So I gotta like it, lol !!!
I can hoon as well very happily! :-) Lovely bike. I reckon when I am allowed a second bike (hopefully next summer) it will be a Scrambler and I will customise it heavily! :-)
I saw Missenden in your name and thought hmm I know a Great Missenden not far from me, bet he rides some of the roads I ride. Lo and behold at the start of the video you're coming down Link Rd in Hemel. That's part of my daily commute.
...you can still pick up new ones for around the £8,200 mark...but hurry as I'm fairly sure Triumph will replace this one with a new liquid cooled model within a few months....
+TheMissendenFlyer I ride a vintage Yamaha rt2 360, and absolutely love the triumph scrambler look. I hope to pick one up in the near future, thank you for the reply.
Did I not??? How remiss of me - yes it is relatively heavy, but the seat is so low it's not an issue when slow speed riding as you can flat foot it if necessary and therefore you have bags of confidence on it. Once riding, like with most bikes, the weight just disappears and isn't an issue...
There's one in a bike shop I pass every day and I stare at it for far too long. It's got twin pipes though, with wrapping, and it just looks "right". Time to save the pennies...
Interesting, I would have said the Thruxton... (purely based on reviews). I own a 2015 Daytona 675R, i've had very little exposure to the other Triumphs...be interested to hear your thoughts on the Ducati Scrambler also.
+Benjay1975 Your Daytona is poles apart from the Bonneville range if my Street Triple is anything to go by - the only thing you'll recognise is the switchgear! I've not been tempted to try the Ducati Scrambler - I have seen one up close and sat on one at a dealer but to my eye it seems too small, almost toy like, and not quite retro-enough - it's really a modern bike with a nod to the past, rather than a full on homage too it like the Triumphs are. It's a personal thing but this particular Ducati didn't do it for me (though the reviews suggest it is a good machine).....
+TheMissendenFlyer I feel the exact same way about the Ducati! It seems like the anti-Triumph. I would buy it with my brain, but it doesn't tug at my heart the way the Bonnies do.
+Cooper Henderson That's it exactly - nothing wrong with the Ducati on paper, just doesn't quite work for me and my heart would leap a little more if I opened the garage to see the Triumph....
OK checked him out and I have to disagree - I assume you're not from the UK as if you were you would probably pick up frankieonpcin1080p's Northern accent, I very definitely have a Southern accent.... ;0)
two things I've noticed about many riders are that they seem to be very bothered about not having a fuel range indicator and a gear indicator.....that's absolutely nonsense! We humans have something called brains which allows us to remember things such as mileage(from the last time we pumped fuel in the tank) and we can also feel the bike in able to know in what gear we're riding. Those two things are no good reason to not enjoy riding on a bike. Makes me remember of a friend who would not go on a long trip because he didn't have a GPS!!! What a dumbass!
I have one, ok for short rides, ok for light off the road ridding, but its heavy, back brake caliper is to lower , put air into the back tyre is pain, no fuel gauge , but Nice looking bike,
+Aeron Masters yeah this is the perfect bike to enjoy country lanes at sensible speed with some velociraptor running beside you....i mean what else do you need?!
I bought one of these largely based on your review and am absolutely delighted with it. Thanks.

Gorgeous bike, love the roadster/retro look. Shame about the ignition placement, would do my head it.

Depends! This one had a "police aware" sticker on it (I checked when I came back)......
+Guybrush Threepwood Not only that but the bigger engine models may be released by then too :0)

Ok and thankyou for replying
+Dougie “dougster701” Haggerty My pleasure....
isn't the arrow exhaust not road legal?
+AnOddGamerChannel I like the Zard (but that's not road legal either I suspect).....
Triumph really knows how the make great bikes.
+Bavarian Biker I must admit I am a fan of modern European bikes - give me a Ducati, BMW or Triumph any day....they all make great bikes and knock spots of the Japanese efforts I reckon....
Do you live near Norwich?? I swear you pass thru Cambridge area, my Nan lives right near there...
No I don't - I live in Great Missenden hence "The Missenden Flyer" - I used to live near Norwich though 35 years ago!
TheMissendenFlyer haha, well I guess that makes good sense! Well hey I really like your channel, I'll make sure to stay tuned!
:0)
Got a quote for one of these bikes with the arrow 2:1 exhaust... dealer quoted it at 15k!
Whaaaat! Where was that? Should be nearer half that!!!
Yeah, that's what I thought. Ridiculous.. it's not even a sportbike.
I reckon that's a lovely looking bike, one for the Lottery wish list ;-)
Thanks for uploading TMF
+DervMan Hi Dervman, yes the ol' scrambler has a lot of potential doesn't it - I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was to ride, sounds fab too, a great Summer cruiser I reckon with the potential for lots of winter man-cave tinkering.....as you say, (another!) for the list.....
+TheMissendenFlyer What a great phrase 'winter man-cave tinkering' :-)
Q for you cousins across the pond... why is your plate so big in the UK?
If only I knew! maybe our traffic cops have bad eyesight!! Thanks for watching and for stopping by - TMF
great review TMF!! I do like the Scrambler's!
Top Review. Thanks for making the effort.
+Mark Goodman Thanks mark - Really was my pleasure, a great fun bike to pootle around on....on my wish list ;0) Cheers - TMF
British countryside and British bike perfect combo .... Now, when are you organising a TMF group ride out in the chilterns ?
Sounds scary to me!
Nice Ride / Review !!!
Like that color scheme on that sweet bike !!!
;)
The Gauges, sounds, and ride-ability remind me of my 02 Monster...
So I gotta like it, lol !!!
+Dracati Ducati Cheers DD - and good to hear from you again - it's been a while!
I watch and Thumbs Up...just busy too w/ comments sometimes,
lol !!!
damn life's in the way of my RUclips, haha
I can hoon as well very happily! :-)
Lovely bike. I reckon when I am allowed a second bike (hopefully next summer) it will be a Scrambler and I will customise it heavily! :-)
+Captain Rambunctious Good choice sir! ;0)
no petrol gauge....wtf? how many miles you got when the light comes on?
Dunno, never ran it out to find out, my guess is 20....
why is the resolution only in 360p??
+Toxic Hybrid ...you're quick off the mark - RUclips hasn't finished processing the HD version yet! :0) Check back in an hour for better res!
oh right that makes sense! nice bike by the way you should so a comparison between that and the ducati scrambler!?!?!
Was that buckden?
Err I dunno, where is it?
TheMissendenFlyer it’s just up the A1 near st Neots and Biggleswade
Oh, no then it wasn't....
3:53 did you just get off a stairmaster? LOL just kidding. Great review.
My front brake is great and I use it 90% of the time.
I saw Missenden in your name and thought hmm I know a Great Missenden not far from me, bet he rides some of the roads I ride. Lo and behold at the start of the video you're coming down Link Rd in Hemel. That's part of my daily commute.
+Will Davis :0) What kept you??
Now I'll need 5 velociraptors!
Erm, not sure I follow???
+TheMissendenFlyer Chris Pratt uses that bike in the "Jurassic World" movie 😂
Aha, doh....my bad, should have watched that movie!!!!
+TheMissendenFlyer no worries, love the channel. Gorgeous bike
Very good review. i like how u are not an ass of a rider, like some over here in the U.S..
Very kind of you to say so - thanks :0)
+TheMissendenFlyer No problem, and you have a new subscriber. ( oh, and what was the price of the scrambler?)
...you can still pick up new ones for around the £8,200 mark...but hurry as I'm fairly sure Triumph will replace this one with a new liquid cooled model within a few months....
+TheMissendenFlyer I ride a vintage Yamaha rt2 360, and absolutely love the triumph scrambler look. I hope to pick one up in the near future, thank you for the reply.
Is it a heavy bike? You didn't mention it
Did I not??? How remiss of me - yes it is relatively heavy, but the seat is so low it's not an issue when slow speed riding as you can flat foot it if necessary and therefore you have bags of confidence on it. Once riding, like with most bikes, the weight just disappears and isn't an issue...
If you love MOTORCYCLE then buy this one!! It's an awesome bike
Does it have Anti-Grav
+The Nightstalker Didn't notice..... ;0)
There's one in a bike shop I pass every day and I stare at it for far too long. It's got twin pipes though, with wrapping, and it just looks "right". Time to save the pennies...
+d1rcwill Yeah, there's something about these I like, especially with aftermarket exhausts (the Zard's and Scorpions look great IMO).....
Very nice, Thank you.
Glad you liked it - I think it's a cracking bike (having now also ridden the Ducati Scrambler and the BMW R9T Scrambler)....
Yeah, saw all of them. I like the shaft drive but I see your points about the Triumph, The real deal.
Thruxton or Scrambler?
+Benjay1975 Scrambler - you?
Idk if anyone has ever told you, but you sound almost exactly like frankieonpcin1080p. Look him up if you get a chance
He sounds like an excellent chap - I will do! Cheers - TMF
OK checked him out and I have to disagree - I assume you're not from the UK as if you were you would probably pick up frankieonpcin1080p's Northern accent, I very definitely have a Southern accent.... ;0)
I do really like your reviews...except for that buzzer. I watch these videos on my iPad with headphones and the buzzer is very very unpleasant.
Sorry about that, I'll try not to buzz in future! All the best - TMF
two things I've noticed about many riders are that they seem to be very bothered about not having a fuel range indicator and a gear indicator.....that's absolutely nonsense!
Sounds like a V twin....
Sure does! ;0)
Yep, on another video featuring this model, the mufflers fell off and could hear it clearly. I began to wonder if a 270 degree crank was used on it.
Yes they are 270 degree cranks - makes all the difference doesn't it :0)
bro, take out the horn noise lol almost went deaf. The video was really good tho.
Sorry about that - woke you up though eh? ;0)
I have one, ok for short rides, ok for light off the road ridding, but its heavy, back brake caliper is to lower , put air into the back tyre is pain, no fuel gauge , but Nice looking bike,
+Mark Thorne Hi Mark - interesting to hear your views as an owner - great sound as well as looks of course! All the best - TMF
Indominus rex anyone? :D
+Aeron Masters Err, not sure I follow??
This is the bike in Jurassic World!
Hearing it amplified in a cinema. Oh lord.
+Aeron Masters Got ya! Didn't see the film so missed out on that experience unfortunately......
TheMissendenFlyer Best get on it now! haha
+Aeron Masters yeah this is the perfect bike to enjoy country lanes at sensible speed with some velociraptor running beside you....i mean what else do you need?!
british.... its made in thailand bro
Don't think the 2015 was, the current ones certainly are though.....
