The story goes along the lines of: He is cast out of their village, they were sweethearts, while he was gone she became a nun, he finally returns for her and she is conflicted over love and vows. In the end: death. Sort of like a romeo and juliet thing just a bit different. Mikael is a musical genius too. I really recommend you listen to the first 8 albums to see how they change and evolve from the 90s into the 2000s. I also love that Opeth uses words I never heard or knew before because it made me research, made me smarter and influenced my abilities as a writer. Opeth is hands down my favorite band.

As for the lyrics; I've listened to Opeth to 14 years or so, and I don't know a lot of their lyrics lol. A song I think you'd like is Cusp Of Eternity. In the newer stuff they abandoned the growling and gone almost full on prog-rock. It's still really awesome music but very different than their early stuff
