Just go outside of RUclips for your revenue, and you can do whatever. It's not complicated.
There is no way Will Smith would have even come close to Jamie Foxx's performance. The movie is so goddamn awesome! Leonardo in my opinion had the best performance!
yeah I think that Smith probably turned the role down not because he thought the character was a sidekick, but because he knew Tarantino expected a good performance from him. Just like Foxx described in the video, I think Smith's ego was too big at this point to get acting lessons from Tarantino on how a slave should talk.
Will Smith felt like Django was more of a side character... This man refuses to share the spotlight with anyone, the two roles definitely felt like co-leads but god forbid Will Smith not be the center of attention for an entire 2 and half hour movie.
John Travolta being considered for Calvin Candie is new to me. I think he would have been brilliant, but Leo stole the movie with his amazing performance. I do believe Travolta should be in Tarantino's next and supposedly final film.
While everyone wanted to see a new Tarantino film, i honestly thought the trailer looked kinda corny until i realized later when i saw the second trailer that Leonardo was actually going to play the villain for the very first time in his career , that made me die to want to see the movie & hes playing a supporting role after this far in his career ??? Those are the best kind of villains ever!!! All the famous type casted good guy actors best performances of they're entire careers are when they finally get to play the bad guy , same reason i wanted to see Training Day so bad when the trailer first came out knowing Denzel Washington was going to finally play a dark role , it was music to my ears to discover Leo was finally going to do it because those roles always are amazing & Oscar worthy & obviously i didn't prove myself or anyone else wrong did i???
If Will Smith thought Django was a "sidekick," then I don't think he really understood the script. Django was the main focus of the story and Dr. King-Schultz helped him along his journey. It was fitting he killed Calvin Candie. It was a truly cultured and sophisticated gentleman eliminating the wannabe who fancied himself to be everything King-Schultz was but wasn't (which was also a comment on the Antebellum South).
Only shows how Will was not the right choice for that roll and for once I like Will Smiths arrogance because it caused him to not be in one of my favorite movies of all time.
It's not about the story for Will, it's about the screen time. If he is not the main man, who is always on screen in every scene possible, being the only focal point of the movie then he is not interested. He is an absolute slut for the attention and won't have it any other way
Yet another role I am glad Will Smith rejected. Jamie fits much more and you are willing to walk the journey with him, rather than Will. On the other hand, this movie could have redeemed Smith a bit after WWW movie...
My dad and I watched this movie for the first time this year and man did we have a good time. Definitely holding onto this movie for a long time 💯 10/10

Yeah I just don't see Will Smith in the role it would require a chance in tone for the film to work with him and I really appreciate QT keeping the humor and swagger which J Foxx does very well. The meat of Django's story is harsh and hard to watch. By mixing in the music and likeable characters it became something amazing
