    I have the original Philips airfryer. I’ve used others. To me the Philips is the best one of all. It may not be as large, but it gets the food done well enough that I seldom use my oven. Right now there is a sale on the xxl... looks like I will be buying it tonight! Thnx for the review! It may not be worth $379... but the Philips is well built and they last!

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Philips makes great air fryers, but there are other affordable options that are more budget friendly, but works just as well. I still have my Philips XXL, but I don't reach for it as often. I do like it tho. Let me know how you like it if you pick it up 😊

    Got the XXL and I think the Philips quality is worth the money. It’s plenty big for my family of 2 adults. Other AF’s seem cheaply made and frankly some of the mixed reviews of other brands scared me off them. I had the smaller Philips Viva so I know how Philips performs.

    • @ChrystalClearBeautyLV
      @ChrystalClearBeautyLV  6 лет назад +1

      That's awesome! I'm glad you're enjoying it! I like mine as well, but it's definitely not in everyone's budget. I like my less expensive air fryers too. I haven't had any issues, but ironically I did have to have my Philips exchanged a couple times.

    Thank you for your review. I am a big guy 6'1" 235. I almost picked up the XXL yesterday. It seems like it's premium but I don't think it's XXL (at least not by my standards). If it was $100 cheaper or a little bit bigger i would have bought it. I ended up getting a cheaper model for $120. I think a new model is coming out in the US soon. I keep seeing people HD9861/99 with smart sensing tech.

  • @m3rdpwr
    @m3rdpwr 6 лет назад +1

    Oh Snap, you do have everything!
    So glad you did this first look!
    So the basket around is only slightly smaller than my GoWISE 5.8qt.
    However, the height is a BIG difference.
    For 90%+ of the time, that would not be an issue, unless I cooked a bird like you just did.
    Things I liked were the removable bottom tray and turbo star thingy for easy cleaning.
    If the grate needed to be replaced, it would be cheaper (not cheap though!) than a whole new basket!
    It may also be feasible to throw the grate in the dishwasher if feeling lazy!
    Review: 10
    Philips: 4.5 lol For reasons you stated, price and the fact I can get almost 3 new GoWISE (or PXL) for that price.
    It's too bad Philips decided they are so good they can charge big bucks.

    • @ChrystalClearBeautyLV
      @ChrystalClearBeautyLV  6 лет назад

      Hey Mario! Thanks so much for watching ☺
      The removable bottom is nice!
      That turbo star is just an extra piece to clean! 😂
      Philips is a great brand, but definitely overpriced as far as air fryer go. It cost as much as the Breville!

    • @AZBlueVeg
      @AZBlueVeg 6 лет назад +2

      My GoWise 5.8 Qt drawer warped after only a few uses and could not be properly inserted, I had to send it back to Amazon. Bad design, poor quality, cheaply made. I would much rather trade 3/4" on the basket height, which is generally inconsequential, for a higher quality unit. If all you care about is price, then yes, go for the cheap stuff. You get what you pay for.

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr 6 лет назад

      I've had mine for 7 months and I use it heavily.
      The only issue I had was that I had to tighten a screw on the basket after ~5-6 months. Not a problem since.
      That and I abuse the basket with scrub sponges, but that's on me and it hasn't warped.
      I could only imagine it warping if it went from hot to cold instantly and caused the metal to fail.
      In any case, mine is solid and well worth the ~130 I paid for it at the time with it's almost daily use. (MSRP 500, $380-400 I think she said for the XXL)
      Sorry you had problems with yours. I've heard of pealing on the PXL and GoWISE, but not warping.

    How's the cooking compared to Cooks essential and Power airfryer XL? Does the cooking in this justify the cost? Philips says it's 75% less fat compared to regular air fryers. Would do u think? pls let me know.

      Personally I think all the air fryers I have cook the same and I show that in another video that you can find in my air fryer playlist. I can't speak on if there's less fat because I've never measured it. Philips is nice, but it hasn't proven to be worth the hefty price tag in my opinion.

      It's still only 1,700 W,. The watts/inch^3 is less than comparable units, which will result in less efficient air frying. It also doesn't have an inner basket, so whatever you put in there sits on metal and will get soggy in oil. If you use one of the provided trays, you cannot lift that out without also lifting the entire outer basket, oil drippings and all. NO THANKS.

Well I can tell you hand on heart I'm not a good cook but oh my, I've never made such great tasting food like I have in the air fryer. I didn't even know moist chicken with a crispy skin was even a thing, seriously. It's so easy to open the basket to check the food it doesn't bother me now. I am going to buy the XXL air fryer as I really want that grill tray! This review just convinced me. Thank you My Gadget Kitchen!

  • @AZBlueVeg
    @AZBlueVeg 6 лет назад +1

    Why is 3/4" taller and 1" wider such a big deal with the other models you are comparing with? It's not like you can fill up that capacity anyway, your food won't cook if you fill up that basket to its full capacity. Breaded items, like chicken, fish, etc. need to sit on a single layer at the bottom if you want them properly cooked. Those small dimensional differences are not going to have any meaningful impact on what you fry when you can't fill up even a smaller basket. When it comes to frozen fries and those types of things, the small differences in size, again, are meaningless because you can still fit just as many fries (2 bags full) into any of those units including the Philips. I think you are focusing on the wrong aspect.

    • @ChrystalClearBeautyLV
      @ChrystalClearBeautyLV  6 лет назад +2

      AZBlueVeg the size is a HUGE deal when they want to charge almost $400 for less room. As you can see in the video, size does matter because my chicken didn't fit well. I have made much larger chickens in my other less expensive air fryers no problem. So, when I'm comparing the XL vs the XXL, it's absolutely about size. Especially since you can see that the XXL isn't very XXL at all when compared to the XL.
      I appreciate you watching and your feedback though.

    • @AZBlueVeg
      @AZBlueVeg 6 лет назад

      Appreciate your review! :) I believe what you are paying for is a better design and higher quality, that's why I feel the focus on size is a little misplaced. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, but in the Philips you get the largest sized air fryer available in the highest quality product. It's a great balance for those of us who want a solid, well made product. It also has two features which many air fryers lack: 60 minute cook time and 30 minute keep warm. One thing you didn't test for was fat removal capability. That's supposedly one of the big draws to Philips' Twin Turbostar, which is supposed to extract more fat than traditional designs. Those who buy air fryers are presumably concerned with fat intake and want to reduce it as much as possible. When I roast a chicken, I tuck the drumsticks under the flap in the back and they are never a problem. My GoWise drawer warped and would not close after only a few days' use. I ordered the Philips XXL because I was so disappointed with the "off" brands. I'll see how I feel after using it for a few days. Love your videos!

    • @ChrystalClearBeautyLV
      @ChrystalClearBeautyLV  6 лет назад +2

      AZBlueVeg what I think is you missed was, I compared Philips to Philips 1st, so there's no quality difference. In my opinion, the size difference isn't worth the price tag. That's all I'm saying. This isn't an air fryer performance/quality review. It was an unboxing and a look at the size and if it deserved the name XXL.

    • @ChrystalClearBeautyLV
      @ChrystalClearBeautyLV  6 лет назад

      AZBlueVeg the Philips is a great air fryer, but it's not in everyone's budget. For this particular model, I honestly feel like you get more bang for your buck with the Breville Smart Oven Air. Another quality brand in the same price range. Size wise, Breville kills everybody, but as far as stand alone air fryers go, I prefer the size of my cook's essentials because I can cook more food at once for my family of five.

    No actually they haven't been around the longest and they're not a big quality brand name like the NuWave air fryer they invented it over 20 years ago and there air fryer doesn't cost 3 or $400 and I think just about everybody has heard of the NuWave in really besides the starfish thing that they put at the bottom of their pan they actually copied the NuWave air fryer except for that one feature probably so that they wouldn't get sued they had to make it a little different

      Don Wilson the NuWave just recently stepped up their air fryer game. I have the NuWave Oven and it's max temp is only 350. These other air fryers increased the temp and power and then nuwave had to step their game up and came out with the model that other brands were already doing so they could stay relevant.
      All cars do the same thing. Some people drive Hondas, some have Mercedes. Same thing with anything consumers buy. Philips can charge what they want and people will always buy because they have marketed themselves as a high end quality brand.

    Air fryers are basically all the same. Phillips is the original air fryer manufacturer. Kinda like Vitamix. Priced expensive because they can. I'll stick with my gourmia. Hope you're not a snob. You sound like one.

      I looked at gourmia & it was cheap plastic junk. Philips is very well made just like my Vitamix. You get what you pay for.

      @@Adeline9418 First off, don’t call me “Hun” second I always say, buy the best you can afford & I do. My “plastic” Philips XXL air fryer is still going strong after 3.5 years & my Vitamix A3500 after 4.5 years. I would gladly pay that again for either product.
      Third…you don’t have anything better to do then leave bitter comments on a 4 year old RUclips video?!
