What part of Fitzroy Island are you most looking forward to seeing? 🙂
I would really love to dive there again. But one would have to stay there and the accommodation seems tricky to figure out.
@Deb Ideiosepius accommodation can be expensive on the island, but there is a campsite, so you could grab a tent and camp there pretty cheap. Around $40 a night. Otherwise, staying in Cairns and doing day trips is the next best option.
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Looks like you really loved Cairns! I lived there in the early 2000's but have not been back since. looking forward to seeing how it changed.
Can’t wait to swim with the turtles!
My wife and I took our own snorkelling gear when we went to Fitzroy Island for our anniversary recently. The lighthouse and summit is a steep walk but worth it. I find it hard to believe but if you felt tired at all on the short walk to Nudey Beach then the longer walk is definitely NOT for you. Australia has a LOT of beaches I would rate above Nudey Beach - for starters most people prefer white (or yellow) sand beaches to coral beaches. Blue Lagoon, Fraser Island - secluded, few people, white sand, fresh water, no waves. Granite Bay, Noosa - secluded, not crowded, pale sand, rideable waves, shade trees near the water. Tangalooma Wrecks, Moreton Island - sandy beaches, very small waves, snorkelling at the wrecks. Heron Island - crushed coral beaches but even better snorkelling around the whole island also a massive turtle and reef research station.
Used to live in Cairns and haven’t been to Fitzroy island since before they did a big renovation on the hotel. So over 10 years. Lovely spot. I’ll be back one day with my daughter so I can show her our old hometown.
Thank you Justin, without your advice and tips I would have never known how to get to fitzroy island. I really appreciate that you emphasised that we needed to get to fitzroy island before we could do anything on the island.
Bloody good catching those videos on the mountain mate. Can’t wait to be there.
Great video, super helpful to plan out the trip. thank you 🙂
wow! wonderful trip this Island so beautiful beach
Yes it is such a beautiful island! Amazing beaches and turtles!
Ship-based group I was with headed off to do the lookout walk at 6am. At 10am when I arrived on the island it was far too hot to think about the walk - though Nudey beach trail was easy enough.
Great video thank you
Great video
Beautiful place, coral beaches hammer your feet though.
Yep, very true. Sea shoes are a lifesaver!
Going there in Jan thanks for the video
Have fun! Thanks for watching!
Hello Justin!
A very informative video indeed. Would you also please throw some light on if scuba diving could also be done at fitzroy island apart from snorkeling. If yes then what do you suggest, from where could it be booked?
Thanks!
Hey! Snorkelling is more popular on Fitzroy due to the shallow waters and reef right off the beach but yes, scuba diving can be done on Fitzroy through the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub (FISH) I've heard some mixed reviews about it though. So personally would reccomend doing a diving tour from Cairns to the further out parts of the Great Barrier reef. That would be a much better experience in my opinion. Hope this helps
Hi Justin! What drone is that used in this video? Is it one you’d recommend for a beginner? Want to get one that doesn’t take up too much space for traveling but easy to use and can handle any wind or heights like this. Thanks for any advice!
Hey! That was my DJI Mini 2. I reccomend getting the Mini 4 Pro, it's the perfect travel and beginner friendly drone. Plus I have lots of videos on my channel about using the Mini 4 Pro too hope this helps 😀
Is there somewhere to store valuables on Fitzroy island whilst you are in the water snorkelling? Thank you!
Hey! I'm pretty sure the main shop that rents out snorkels had some secure storage lockers. I'm not 100% sure but I seem to remember them being there. Maybe it's worth calling ahead and asking
Thank you!
Great video. Question not having a go because you used it but any issues using the drone. As I am going to the green island and would like to take my drone but not sure ?? If you don’t want to answer the questions I fully understand as some people love or hate them cheers 👍
No issues using the drone there at all, green island is also fine for flying your drone. Haven't had any issues at all in Australia to be honest. Just be safe and you'll be fine 🙂
@@JustinBainbridgeYT brilliant thanks for that now going to take it. Can’t wait much appreciate 👍
Hey Justin thanks for the video. Great help! Can I ask if you buy a day ticket say 8-5 do you know if you can come back any earlier if you wanted to or would you have to wait until 5? Thanks!
Hey! I'm pretty sure you'd have to wait till 5. The boats get fully booked out so I don't think there would be enough room. Hope this helps
@@JustinBainbridgeYT thanks for getting back to me Justin! Really appreciate it
Fitzroy Island vs Green Island, which would you recommend Justin? Thanks!
To be honest I haven't been to Green Island, I know a few people who have and said it was awesome. For me I thought Fitzroy was beautiful and would definitely go back. So that would be my choice but try to visit both if you have the time 🏖
Thanks!!! And thanks for making this video for us! @@JustinBainbridgeYT
Heyy Justin, thanks for the video. I have a weird question, what is the chance of snorkelling for a non swimmer there? Any chance of seeing anything on shallower water? Also, is it walkable to different locations in the island after getting off the ferry? Please let me know. Thanks !
Hey! Yes, of course! A lot of the reef is just off the beach and very shallow, so you'll be fine! Yep the main points on the island are all within walking distance. Nudey beach, lighthouse, summit lookout, etc. There are actually no roads on the island and only a few cars owned by the resorts so walking is the main way of getting around
@@JustinBainbridgeYT cheers thanks !
Is there a toilet on the glass boat
Hey, I don’t remember if there was a toilet or not on the boat, sorry
Love from Bangladesh
I have heard that there is a crisis in Australia Now I am in Bangladesh. I want to go to Australia. I would be grateful if you could give me a job opportunity in Australia. Thanks
