    Here’s a fun fact that will date me. My grandmother took me on a train called “the Portland Rose” to visit there when I was little. We went to the opening of Lloyds Center with my cousins. They claimed to be the largest shopping center in the country at that time in 1960.

    Hi George! That stretch glass epergne was fantabulous! We already have five or six epergnes here, but that one would've really tempted me! The Victorian bamboo piece, with the mirror, was at a really good price. It was a super-nice piece, too. The bobwhite taxidermy was really well-done. Was that a kaleidoscope, with the twisted black case with brass end there? I have always had a thing for kaleidoscopes. Actually, if that was a kaleidoscope, it likely would've captured my attention more than anything else. Silver is beautiful...as long as someone else has it. I'm not going to keep the stuff polished. Loved the "Thistle" pattern Phoenix Glass vase. I used to have one of the scales like the on next to the "Little Duke" slot machine. I sold it when I moved here. I used to have A LOT of the United motion clocks, but just couldn't find space for all of them, so they ended up sold. That looked to be a great show! Thanks for showing us around it!!!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  3 года назад +1

      I really should've bought the bamboo piece! I prefer coins to tableware, but I do use the flatware daily and if you do that it won't tarnish...I'd never use holloware though. The Phoenix vase made me happy to see again! That was a good scale, the deco shine of the slot machine made me forget to mention it...it's sad we can't keep it all, I'd have so many amazing things but it's been fun letting them find their right home!

    • @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
      @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS 3 года назад

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I really liked the bamboo piece, but the one thing, in the whole video, that really caught my attention was the item that looked like a kaleidoscope. I don't know if it was a kaleidoscope, but, if it was, I'd have been all over it. Those old scales, with the weights, weigh at least four ounces😉 I really enjoyed having the one I had, but there is simply no room for one of them here. I sold it to a person that had been wanting one for a long time, so I was happy for them to get it.

    George, how do you feel about seeing something you sold; being sold by the person you sold it to? I sold 2 crystal lamps at what I thought was a good price and saw it selling for double. I instantly think I underpriced and kick myself in the butt.

      I don't really mind it, as long as i knew what I needed for it I don't mind letting someone else have some profit too. Sometimes you realize you gave too big a deal, but as Jocelyn of Crazy Lamp Lady says, that's just the price of the lesson.

    george, i just found a cast iron bank with a African American kid eating a piece of watermelon, been trying hard to find info on him, he's got 1911 marked underneath his neck, he is very old just wondering if you have ever came across one. I know some people would be offended but he is very cute, if you have any info. i would be glad to hear it.

      I am familiar with that bank, the mark you see could be a mold number rather than a date, I'd have to see it. Have you had it looked at in the past? There are reproductions, and yes, they're offensive to some people, but I know a lot of black collectors who feel they're worth preserving if they're original.
