His films portray and also find the psychology of women. He was one of the first one to do this. Even Guru Rabindra Nath Ji has also portrayed women beautifully in his novels. Without the fake essence of Heroism. The Indian literature is so beautiful and fruitful to the one, whom it interests. Loved this analysis ♡
Glad you like it ☺
Adding to that , women in Sharat Chandra Chattopadhay 's novels are incredible too . He understood and wrote the characters of women , their desires , emotions , complexities so beautifully.
"Never having seen a Satyajit Ray film is like never having seen the sun or the moon." - Akira Kurosawa
For many of the Viewers it may be 'Charulata' to be their favourite character. But mine was Bhupati, not only he was highly literate but also socially open to the perception and psychology of his wife(WOMAN), during that time period it was not only rare for a man to stand for women causes but also considered to be 'na-mard' if one's wife has any small hint of adultery but he rather understood the cause and the rationale behind it and took a step to bring themselves closer to each other (but by this I don't mean that one should be a simp or just neglect any wrong) but here he wasn't a simp he knew the exact case.. why and how.
This really hit me hard He indeed is truly a intellectual MAN portrayed by the Legend Satyajit Ray. Salute to his work. We Bengalis will always be indebted to him for his contribution.
Yes indeed.. It is also putting such character existing in the society as normal as we are..
The nuances of womenhood protrayed by Ray..women are not protrayed as wife mother. Sister..but as itself..
Satyajit Ray's movies was ahead of time. The movies he made could not be understood by us, because of our backward thoughts. He mastered the art of movie making. We need to understand the importance of good story and directing rather than being trapped in commercial movies which mostly has absurd plot.
Well gradually more people are acquiring taste for such cinema. However, I'd say, to each his own.
He was understood in Bengal, because he made films in Bengali language, and abroad, where a niche audience watching global films was already present which only now is growing in India. He is considered as among the top 10 directors of all time because he was appreciated abroad.
@@sanjay59741for his work.
Every frame in a ray movie is an art piece in itself and that is the magic of Ray. Every single frame of his movies seems like a painting you can hang on your wall
Madhabi Mukherjee is especially radiant in both of these roles, Charulata and Mahanagar. Very different roles.
I had been obsessed with Ray's works since I probably can remember. Your way of indepth narration is gorgeous and I'm totally in awe! Wish you absolutely the best and hoping for more of your works!
Sylvia Plath is in awe of ME?!
What more could one ask for!
Great commentary on a truly versatile and talented director.
I wish I could meet him ‘ I would laundry his cloth dust his furniture’ be his driver any thing .
Same Rizwan. Same.
Brilliant! My brother.❤
The tragedy is that Indian flims no more got another Satyajit Ray to glorify and continue the quality and level he showed unlike Hollywood. We are proud and contented that he atleast got his due respect before his death though delayed.
This video is a gem describing nicely about the gem of our Indian Cinema. ❤️
Thanks ☺ Glad you like it
Beautifully narrated

I felt for first women because some of my days are exactly like her.
Like l have everything at home but boredom hits me sometimes
But I found my own self in reading and practicing our sanatana dharma.
Luckily my husband is very loving and carring towards me.
CHARULATA IS NOT A SANATANI WOMAN and Bhupati is a highly intelligent editor of a swadeshi newspaper. This was new India.
What Ray was not willing to portray is the exploitation of labour of marginalized which gave ample leisurely time for upper caste women to stroll around house, look outside the window, keeping uppercaste men free from any labour outside and inside the house, this is exactly the freedom and time Ray got due to uppercaste privileged background to invest in making films.
You did not mention the loss of his father sukumar Roy when he was only two year old and the collapse of their publishing house His growing up in middle class kolkata getting in advertising etc.His upbringing was middleclass, his family was exceptional.Nobody has shown poverty of rural priest like Ray did.
@@rakhimukerji7937 this hardly affected his caste capacity to employ servants from lower castes. Neither he worked as a servant due to economic strains if thr was any.
Wonderful..
Thanks ☺
No sir, thank YOU!
