@@rajsingh-uw8ly His first work and he hit it out the park with severe budgetary constraints. I read several shots could not be re-taken as film was expensive back then (1954).
This is a wonderful piece of talk. Well, as Bengali, we know many aspects of Satyajit Ray. But this speech tells us the sensitive character of Om Puri more. Of course, he was sensitive, articulate, and cerebral, but as a human being, he surpasses many others.
What a tribute to the maestro from a great actor. Om Puri's homage had everything from humility to humour, from anecdotes to anger -- but there was no mistaking the deep respect and awe he had for Satyajit Ray. Thank you so much for uploading this gem
Satyajit Ray should be more honoured when he was making films and alive.. He is India's gem. He should get more love and respect when he was alive. Industries were remained ungrateful then. It's give me so much pain alltime. He is such a true inspiration for all.

What an interview! One of India's greatest actors on perhaps her greatest director. I saw Sadgati only once in mid 1982, on a TV screen at a neighbor's house in Kolkata, just before leaving India to come to the US, and memories are somewhat sketchy. Knew Ray's greatness ever since 1955, but really appreciated the style and content of Om Puri's "homage".
