- I think it's safe to say most of us want to hear our v8 trucks! Well chevy has made these things nearly silent from the factory so this is definitely a must do first mod to enjoy your truck more! This is on a 6.2 but will be same as your 5.3 just different pipe.
You can get this done even cheaper if you go to an exhaust shop and just get a pipe welded in!
Install begins at 1:39
Cut exhaust startup/rev at 3:20
Completed first start at 4:34
Interior first drive at 5:16
exterior revs/normal acceleration/full throttle at 7:17
Update at 12:15

Im on a ton of 3rd Gen IROC-Z Camaro stuff cause I'm building one of those as well as a 2018 Midnight Silverado..and theres TONS of haters/purists on those pages....but at the end of the day, it is his and he should do what he prefers....people will get over it lol
@@d3sigN8t3dDruNk doing this on an nbs never appealed to me but the nnbs trucks sound better for some reason. This is why the hate baffles me. I understand on the 00-06’s. But on these trucks it definitely sounds just fine
@@d3sigN8t3dDruNk I have a 86 Grand National and apart of a lot of car groups as well as online groups and you wouldn’t believe the amount of purist, man.. you change the stock rims on a GN and half of them will shun you 😆 I say fuck em and when you’re the one sinking money into to, you get to do what ya want! I’m sure that Iroc will look sexy!

Thanks for doing the "normal take off". Every exhaust video they just go full throttle so you don't hear what every day driving sounds like.
I can’t wait for the simple mods like a full exhaust and a nice tint job different wheels etc. Excited to watch it come to life! Didn’t know how I felt about it at first but now I’m excited to see what you do with it

That exhaust sounds really good.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Borla ATAK Crate Muffler, I just put that on my ZR2 Silverado with 6.2 engine and she is purring like not other! I left the resonators but had the shop cut the flap by the factory muffler. You won't regret the crate muffler.. And yes, there goes my gas mileage because every time I accelarte, I want to continue to hear the roar and I gun it! Lol😂

Its shocking how much sound the little resonator ports hide. I covered all three of mine up a week ago with high temp hvac tape and it is mind blowing how much louder it is. Before this i only had a magnaflow 18" muffler installed. The resonators delete made it soooo much deeper and more accel drone, but still quiet inside cabin. And then 3 days ago I put on KN cold air intake, and a resonated bolt on exhaust tip, and the tone is perfect for my liking when you combine all three aspects.. Cant hear anything at idle speeds but growls like a mother f when you step on it. The cold air intake rattles my damn gas pedal!! It almost drowns out the exhaust sound.

Damn Chevrolet sure is proud of that "dual exhaust" in the commercial to just be another y pipe at the back around spare tire. And the 2" lift kit lol. I've seen that commercial 20x this weekend I bet lol

I have the mbrp duel kit. I chopped the y pipe off the mbrp muffler, welded it onto the carven R. Sounds amazing. Deep, clean, loud, and no drone. Its a $100 muffler.

I cut out the flapper valve on my '14 Sierra, and it surprisingly made the exhaust deeper, so I would cut that out and move the piping up if I were you.
What does the flapper in the exhaust actually do ?
@@JohnD0129 Its sole purpose is to quiet the V4-mode drone. But since it only opens up depending on how much throttle you put down it acts like a valve that would quiet the noise of an engine.
I got a 2021 Trailboss Custom with a 6.2 in it. I did a muffler delete and removed the flapper. Left the resonators on it. Sounded unreal but the cab noise was too much. When the DFM would kick it would sound like a Subaru! So I then put a Flowmaster Super 40 on it and it toned it down a bunch but still has a nice growl to it. It has the 3” exhaust on the truck. Your truck looks and sounds good!!
Yup keeping the flapper makes a huge difference with dfm, really wasn’t any sound change going in and out. I’m keeping it until I can get a pulsar to deactivate it.
@@lmfscrew I put a K&N cold air intake on my 6.2 yesterday and it took care of the Subaru sound for me. Just can’t keep my foot out of the throttle now!!
Just bought a 21 Silverado myself, I got the 5.3 RST instead of the Trail Boss though. That’s a nice truck you got
I have the high country with the 6.2 10 speed transmission. I was recommended by a good friend he's a excellent mechanic, the Corsa sports exhaust and K&N sistem with the pedal commander. Work excellent I really recommend 👌😊
You gotta get you a cordless porta band. Much cleaner and more civil. Sawzalls work but are more of a demolition than fabrication tool. Great videos. Keep em comin'

Usually not very cool but I saw this body style with some wide wheels and fender flares, it really makes the front end come together looking at it head on.
Such a nice truck. I love my 2015 ltz but when it’s time to upgrade I’ll be loving the 2021
I put a Borla cat-back S with twin black same side pipes on my 2017 Silverado 5.3. I can noww hear that baby start up in a detached garage 100 feet away from my house. I would also recommend an oil catch can. I couldn't believe the junk it collects after I installed it. All direct engines and turbos should have one.

Man... I've got a 2021 Trail Boss with 6.2L on reserve at the dealer. Waiting for it to get here. Listening to so many clips and then seeing videos where guys literally just cut the muffler out. LOL Sounds so good. Just don't want it super loud.

Sounds great I did the same thing to my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L
IMO, prefer the sound baby squat had. That 6.2 purrs but something about the “shift pop” noise that baby squat made when gunning it was just too badass. The sound of those trucks inspired me to settle on a 2015 high country and I couldn’t be happier with the sound

Sounds better than stock. I suggest the Flowmaster American Thunder cat back kit. It has the Super 40 chambered muffler. When I look at the stock exhaust tips I think HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 ports. Great video! I like your Trail Boss.

I had a 2019 trail boss with an American thunder in it and loved it. I traded it in for a 2022 rst and thinking of installing another one

i did a muffler delete for my 03 f150 and love it it was like 40 buck and i did it myself

Those cats are heavy duty.
Thats why its not as loud as we all want it to be.

Ok. So I got mine back from muffler shop. I deleted the muffler, adaptive flapper valve, and the 6 resonators and had quad tips put on. Thing sounds amazing with no drone for $300.

Love your new truck. Mine is a 2020 Black RST Midnight Edition but I love the white also. Maybe you should call it Ghost.
The reason it's quiet is because before the tips they have a resonator built into the piping you can see it they look like circles, that also stops it from sounding any deeper

I've got a 2020 6.2 TB and we cut off before the flapper valve and did a welded splice. Just like yours the exhaust sounds AWESOME at low speeds...BUT; after a couple months of highway/interstate traveling I just had a flow-master put on as the cabin sound at 65-85mph got really annoying. Now I can hear myself think! $100 exhaust splice and then the $250 flow-master was worth the trial process for sounds.
What flowmaster did u end up with and do you still like it.
@@brewtus4141 Don't know model but best I can remember it was a straight through off-set. As its wore in the last 8-months its gotten a lot "throatier" and sounds great.

I cut the flapper off mine when I did the delete. and get decent pops on deceleration as well.
Do you have drone at highway speeds without the flapper?
@@jarednifong5615 no sir. I do notice pops at deceleration sometimes. It’s like a very mild burble type sound.

Sounds pretty good. I've got a 2008 chevy Silverado 1500 mine don't have the 3rd cat either. I've got the Jones full boar single chamber muffler on mine an it sounds awesome. An I would of cut that flap out in front of the muffler. Because everyone does because it makes a weird shhhhh noise an it rattles. Everyone cuts that flap out haha.

I did my 2021 trailboss 5.3 and I love the way it sounds. I just hope pulsar updates the lt module for the 2021 10 speed 5.3 so I can get rid of the dfm

@@TheShovelhead82 it has a very similar sound to my 2015 that had dual Flowmaster 40s on it. Yes pulsar finally updated the pulsar lt module for 2021 so my dfm is now shut off

most say cut the flapper when you do this, but with the afe you might also have to weld it in then...because it's barely long enough to avoid exhuast leaks with flapper delete.
You're definitely supposed to cut the flappy off when you do that's why he had to cut some of the new pipe

I got a 21 high country lifted 6” on 20x12.5 -18 and my truck is way to quiet to be that big and I need to fix that asap.

Was there only 1 flapper?? I had flapper in front and behind muffler and was a bit upset that the delete pipe instructions were only deleting one flapper 2 more inches could have easily deleted both. Really curious why yours only had one flapper?
