    He's gripping that handle tight and has stiff arms. The best way to overcome anxiety is to gain confidence from a good technique and you can see that by the end of this video the confidence is building. Great lesson!

    Instruction, temperament, positivity, demonstration, intent, it's all here. This has improved my confidence and chipping so much. I don't fear this shot anymore.

    Adam is so good at the quick distractions and small talk to keep everything light. I wonder if this is done with intent to ease the golfers mind and let them relax.

      This is a great catch, I've seen Adam do this many times. Because of how often I see him do it, i think It is with intent. It's very clever and he doesn't allow the student to beat themselves up or dwell on the bad shots as they are making a transition. - Gabe

      @PorzakGolf  2 года назад +4

      We were using 60deg, but it all depends on the lie, grain and how much green to work with!

    Do you like same distance back and thru? My Thought was always a little back and a lot thru. That would keep me accelerating thru the shot.

    I notice Adams follow through is slightly different from what he is allowing his student to do, on Adams follow through he keeps the back of his left wrist facing the target and the butt of the club doesn’t point to his sternum ie he keeps it shallow we’re as his students action is more of a true arc as opposed to Adams elliptical club head path ? Yes / No ?

      Yeah good call.
      The students ball position is completely different plus he doesn’t turn his hips so all the work is being done with his hands and arms whereas as Adam is using his big muscles so club head is more stable.
      Adam touches on this at 7m mark.

    I think Billy's ball position was a tad to far forward compared to Adam's during this video which is why his contact was not great imho.

    those are the classic chips that should be done with 9,8 or even a 7 iron but you dont see much of that today,,everyone grabs there 56 or 60 which makes the shot twice as difficult for no reason..our coach in college would freak out when we all tried to hit the hero pitch or flop shot and of course we all knew those shots but only when they were absolutely needed..he was the best chipper of the golf ball i ever saw with a 5 iron with a putting stroke..old school teaching

      I had a chipping lesson with my coach and he thought I was insane for going to the 56 for 90% of shots. If there is fairway or green to run on, he pretty much always has me hit something in the low 40s of loft with a putting stroke

    It’s obviously an old video but it also looks like your hands beat the club head to the ball and his seem to match it.

    Why do you use so much loft on this short chip? I feel like that pressures the player to take a bigger swing instead of a putt type chip

    You can tell Billy is scared that he's going to drive the leading edge into the ground and chunk it, personally I have always played those tight lie shots with a more vertical shaft to ensure I get bounce rather than leading edge, but there are many ways to chip well.

    The cameraman needs to follow the ball as it comes off the club on every swing. We want to see where it lands and how far it rolls.
