Google glass design is still the way to go for AR. Adding full VR goggles, then cameras to see the outside environment, then a screen so others can see your eyes, is just over the top
Why didn't this video show up in my feed? I'm subscribed and with notifications turned on. Overall none of your videos are getting shown to me. I had to manually search for the channel to get here.
A good use of this tech is in education honestly. Especially in the engineering space. Learning will be much easier if development continues. People can just be in the 3D environment of what they're learning about, they as well can have a close up view of the tiniest things as it can be easily scaled up, many other things like that, but I really think education is about to be changed and made super easy and accessible...
I’ll probably buy one in 2030 I’ll wait for the meta quest 3 for now ! But yes vr/ar is the future bro!!! Exciting times to be living in !! Ready player one style vr in the 2030s
Eventually these headsets will replace mobile phones (which is essentially the functionality Apple showed in their release trailer), but yes, they won't be going mainstream unless they're no larger than sunglasses, potentially powered by a pocket computer. It makes sense from a business perspective, the data you could get from the eye tracker alone would be priceless. You can already see the pieces in place, google maps already has AR functionality. There's a great example of what AR will look like, it's a video here on YT called "HYPER-REALITY". Regarding the game thing, the best VR/AR games are ones where your hands alone should be enough to control the game. Outside of simulators like racing or flying, you shouldn't need external controls. What a time to be alive!
Glad to hear you Chris, i really like your videos, most people like to hear how trends in programming sucking people into infinite hole , once one master something, it becomes obsolete , you are very successful in these types of videos, it seems they are just making money from new programming trends where there is little to no real benefits, you are clever experienced software developer and experienced in real life , i wouldn't think you would miss the real goal of life , hope you read Quran brother, wish you all the best 😊
I’ve been hoping for VR to succeed for 25 years. It’s an exciting concept. I don’t like the headsets. I do have an oculus it’s OK. Apple will find a way of making it definitely easier to use I think. I’m not sure what meta was up to with their world, it looked really bad. But it’s easy to say that when you’re not the one creating it. Glad to see you’re back for a video. Hope all is well.
I’m excited for AR, VR can go suck a lemon. I can already watch videos and play games on countless devices. When I play a good game, I already get full mental immersion. I’m very mixed on Apple headset, it’s looking more like a VR than AR, but the eye tracking is really cool.
Great video as always, Chris. I think the release of the Vision Pro is a huge step towards mainstream adoption of AR/VR headsets. We're still some years away from true adoption though - but as you said, if anyone can do it it's Apple. I've had older family members, who have never really used or cared about VR/AR technology, reach out to me and comment about this Apple headset. That's the power of Apple. For now though, I don't think we'll see major adoption of it. Once they get it down to $1,000 and make it lighter and with no external battery... it will be selling like pancakes for sure. The great news is that with Apple's headset becoming more mainstream, it's going to help other headsets and the market in general as well.
I think the only way it will be lighter is if it retains that external battery and just lighten the headset itself, no way you can lighten up batteries that much
This is the life changing revolution, and future for sure. Gone are the days of carrying monitors, laptops etc, this is the futer of COMPUTERS. This is why computers are invented for - transportable worlds, joining the computer and person and reality.
I'll be damned if I'm buying a $3,500 headset though
Yeah, that's a steep price.

The eyes thing is definitely different

Everything has been great here. I hope you're doing well too!

I like them both. Building games in vr has been fun!

Call me a boomer but i absolutely refuse to use any AR/VR or AI technologies. Never liked the hype around them
Totally different experience though
