  • In this video we will show you how easy it is to do beautiful 3D carves on your CNC.
This is a simplified start to finish video showing you process of creating 2 separate tool paths, one for roughing and one for finishing.
We will be using the entry level Carveco Maker software to generate this job and use our CNC3D Nighthawk controller and QueenBee CNC to do the carving itself.
This video should also suit FluidNC and other ESP32 users as well.
A big shout out to Mitch Bradley and Luc LeBosse for making the Nighthawk controller what it is today. Mitch is the forefront leader on the FluidNC project that the Nighthawk is based on and Luc's contributions to the Web interface have made it a super easy interface to use.

I see you ran the raster against the grain, I typically have a cleaner carve when I go with the grain on these 3d reliefs 😉 *Great tutorial*

      Thanks Seth.
Definitely worth a try on the next video. :)

From a fellow CNC tutorial maker, that was a great tutorial, thank you. I haven't done much 3d work up until recently but I noticed the outside border looked quite rough and unfinished. why did rough cut to the outside but only finish the inside? Hope your don't mind me asking but I don't think it was covered in the video. Thanks PS. your software looks pretty cool and I really like the phone app.

      Thanks James,
Certainly running the finishing pass to the outside would work well. The objective of this video was to keep it very simple and to reduce the total time the carve took. Doing the roughing pass around the border meant we didn't need to slow raster the flat edges.
In future videos we'll do a rounded vector perimeter with a bowl bottom and finishing pass that area so it's silky smooth. :)

@@cnc3d perfect! I was just trying to understand why and that covers it. Thanks again 👍
