Discord wasn't playing by DB's rules. He knew he couldn't kill Bill, so he distracted him with the fight long enough to banish him back to his own universe. Besides, we all know Discord won't stay dead for long. Also the fight soundtrack was a freaking banger!
In the Aftermath, it is pointed out that Discord will be back among the living. And Discord did have a feasible chance of winning. But you're right, he wasn't playing by Death Battle Rules. If he killed Bill, that would have been a bonus.

It was for Fluttershy to read (as seen in 11:28 next to her) if he lost the battle, but succeeded in tricking Bill into fighting in his old home and sealing the portal. But if Discord did Succeed in winning the battle, Discord would’ve easily thrown out the letter Like nothing has ever happened. But the Point is: he wrote that letter, knowing that there is a chance that he might not return from the battle.
So, even though he lost, he technically won. Bill will never be able to invade that world again. Discord saved his friends, and that was enough for him.

If it makes you feel any better, Fluttershy, I think Discord won the long game. Discord forced Bill back into interdimensional space, meaning he would have to make a deal to enter any universe. Then, Discord made Bill see the one thing that he will never have : friends and people who will mourn him when he's gone. Discord showed him you. That's a psychological blow that won't heal anytime soon. Discord had both the figurative and literal last laugh. It's hard to say that Bill truly won in the ending he got. Discord used his last actions to save multiple universes and make Bill regret the day they crossed paths.
There's also the fact Discord is tied to the concept of Chaos itself, being the embodiment of it, and thus even with his physical form being destroyed, it'll come back in time, and not that long either, so even with the wank of Bill, Discord technically still wins with the animations result, since while both are alive, Bill is trapped again, while Discord is free and back in Equestria once his body reforms.

And all three of the last ones were either aggressively mid, a joke that not a lot of people liked, and one that was a little bit spiteful to transformers fans.
Technically while Discord actually could revive himself back in Equestria (since as an "Aspect of Chaos", he can't actually fully die), the process would still take him a very long while to recover from. Thus rendering him unable to continue immediately fighting against Bill, leading to Cipher scoring the official win (albeit a hollow one since Discord did trick him into being trapped in the Nightmare Realm again). Overall, while Bill Cipher technically did win the Death Battle, Discord overall was still the victor of everything else.

While she probably doesn't think this, said evidence is actually false, they wank the hell out of Bill and misconstrue stuff to make him stronger than he really is. Not that it matters since Bill can be killed while Discord can't, even if you destroy his body, he's essentially the concept of chaos given form, and Bill has nothing to show he can destroy concepts themselves, meaning even with the false win Bill has, Discord still lives on post battle.

If it's any consolation Flutters, Discord in the end did what a true friend would do. Making The Ultimate Sacrifice to save those he cared for, so no one in Equestria could ever deny that you succeeded on reforming him.
In all fairness, Sans didn't stand a chance against Bill Chipher either, he's immortal and can easily bend/manipulate space and time to his will. The only way to defeat Bill Cipher is to seal him away, which is what Discord did before suffering defeat.

To keep it short: Discord won the narrative, but Bill won the fight. Discord sacrified himself to save Equestria and especially his number 1# pony Fluttershy. Bill Cipher got trapped in the nightmare realm, which Bill can't escape unless someone is making a deal with him. That's why Discord wrote his finals words to Fluttershy, before the fight began to start. The letter is found at the end of the battle next to Fluttershy as the world of Equestria slowly closed.
In the whole 10 years of watching death battle, I don’t think I’ve seen one where the loser screws over the winner this badly before. (Unless you count goku v Superman 1 where supes destroyed the earth). So honestly, while I’m sad discord lost, at least he spend his last moments protecting what he truly cared about.
Discord will also return, as DB said themselves, though the time it would take to return to his physical form is too long for DB's statistics, which is why Bill won the battle. Bill was still alive, even if he was trapped in the Nightmare Realm. Discord died, but he saved Equestria and possibly every other universe in the process.
It was always be a 50/50 for me, depending on the environment and circumstances. Even Death Battle said that the match was nearly dead even but Discord's flaud lied in his constant underestimation of others. The funny thing is Discord did spoil Bill's victory for him in the end. Bill won in the end but it came at the cost of his freedom. Discord will even regenerate with time because he's returned from existance erasure before but Death Battle didn't factor it in because it isn't fast enough to continue the fight. Bill rightfully one the battle but Discord won the war.

Death battle also noted in their info blocks(black boxes on the top right) that Discord will regenerate but not quick enough to continue the fight. The only reason Discord was in danger was because he acted against the nature of the concept he personifies. As long as he stays true to the nature of the concept he personifies(chaos currently) then he'll always exist.

The hilarious thing is, Bill is going to be even more raging when he realises he hasn't really beaten Discord and that he loses either way. He needs another being's help to escape his home dimension, but Discord does not suffer such a disadvantage. So long as there is Chaos in any sense, Discord can come back. It took me awhile but now I understand how Discord lost. Despite him saying "Ive seen your show" he left out one crucial detail that would've assured his victory. Discord should've gotten Bill to go into his head rather than the other way around.

I reacted to this episode on my channel as well and basically both characters got a win in some sort of sense Bill won the Battle but Discord won both the Narrative and the War And He Ultimately Trapped Bill Cipher in the Nightmare Realm, putting a halt to the Weirdmageddon that was happening in Equestria. So in a sense like you we both won and lost at the same time.
Discord died but he trapped Bill instead his original dimension. This saved not only equestria but also thousands of other dimensions from Bills chaos and destruction for a long time. Discord wins by saving the friends he made in equestria.
Oh yeah, about Bill. Let’s just say if you tried to feed him he actually can go back into dude you can come back wherever he wants but again you have to make a deal to do that
So rooted in his victory that she didn’t even notice his loss until afterwards. She had so much hope in him. The thing about the unicorn hair is that it _blocks_ Bill’s abilities, not really syphoning his powers. It should’ve, but Bill was on such a scale (identical to Discord’s) that it would hardly do anything to him even if he did have prolonged exposure to it. The only reason they really say that Discord loses is because of personality, and that Discord has more issues keeping his soul in check than Bill does, but both are still very, *very* close in power otherwise. If anything, I’m surprised that, if Discord really did know how Bill dies, then that he’d have to have seen a bit more as well and uses unicorn hair as a self defense thing. Say, Rarity making a fine coat for him out of it (as disgusting as it may be, it’d still probably look fabulous.) I can personally see it going either way, depending on prep time and context. If there’s any prep time, Discord _should_ have it just fine.

In the whole 10 years of watching death battle, I don’t think I’ve seen one where the loser screws over the winner this badly before. (Unless you count goku v Superman 1 where supes destroyed the earth). So honestly, while I’m sad discord lost, at least he spend his last moments protecting what he truly cared about.
Discord will also return, as DB said themselves, though the time it would take to return to his physical form is too long for DB's statistics, which is why Bill won the battle. Bill was still alive, even if he was trapped in the Nightmare Realm. Discord died, but he saved Equestria and possibly every other universe in the process.
Discord will come back though, he exists as long as chaos exists.

It was always be a 50/50 for me, depending on the environment and circumstances. Even Death Battle said that the match was nearly dead even but Discord's flaud lied in his constant underestimation of others.
The funny thing is Discord did spoil Bill's victory for him in the end. Bill won in the end but it came at the cost of his freedom.
Discord will even regenerate with time because he's returned from existance erasure before but Death Battle didn't factor it in because it isn't fast enough to continue the fight.
Bill rightfully one the battle but Discord won the war.

@@Keith_Norman It was shown in the comics that Discord recovered from existance erasure before. Death battle also noted in their info blocks(black boxes on the top right) that Discord will regenerate but not quick enough to continue the fight.
The only reason Discord was in danger was because he acted against the nature of the concept he personifies. As long as he stays true to the nature of the concept he personifies(chaos currently) then he'll always exist.
@@dragonslayer2545 well that didn't help since Bill trapped him in that bubble witch can shape reality making discord sees some type of illusion that would make discord betray his true nature; like killing Fluttershy over and over again or Fluttershy saying that he doesn't want him around anymore.

Discord, in defeat, still won by trapping Bill back into his reality. So at least take solace in that, Fluttershy.
And one of the ending notes mentions that Discord will revive after an unknown amount of time, it’s the ultimate moment of winning the battle but losing the war for Bill.

But Unicorn Hair Barrier does not work on Bill as well; he tried to break into the shack with barrier up, but could not break it. but it did not drain him like it did lesser magical creatures, even during prolonged exposure.
Guess technically, Discord could had trapped Bill with it, but it would be a temporary solution at best, as Bill's power would had kept increasing as he was in third dimension.

To be honest, I give props to Discord for screwing Bill’s win over. But in my opinion, knowing Bill… it made the most sense.

The thing about the unicorn hair is that it _blocks_ Bill’s abilities, not really syphoning his powers. It should’ve, but Bill was on such a scale (identical to Discord’s) that it would hardly do anything to him even if he did have prolonged exposure to it. The only reason they really say that Discord loses is because of personality, and that Discord has more issues keeping his soul in check than Bill does, but both are still very, *very* close in power otherwise. If anything, I’m surprised that, if Discord really did know how Bill dies, then that he’d have to have seen a bit more as well and uses unicorn hair as a self defense thing. Say, Rarity making a fine coat for him out of it (as disgusting as it may be, it’d still probably look fabulous.)
I can personally see it going either way, depending on prep time and context. If there’s any prep time, Discord _should_ have it just fine.
