    Out of all of the Instant dreadlocks tutorials that I have watched, this is the best one. All of your videos are amazing. They very easy to understand and follow. I have had three sets of dreads. I have done each set with a different method. So I have some experience spanning almost 20 years with dreads. And I love your videos. Anybody that is looking for easy videos on instant dreads, this is the guy you want to follow.

      Why 3? Did you just get tired of them 3 seperate times or do they become unmanageable after a while? Thinking about starting my 1st set

    • @carriondoll
      @carriondoll 2 года назад +1

      @@lebumcames3615 the first set I mistakenly cut off for a job. The second I had 10 years. I left an abusive marriage and started a new life. Hair carries energy and it was fine for a fresh start. After 6 years without them I was ready for my newest set I started in January. There are tons of videos to help you learn to maintain them if you don’t want the wild free form look. I prefer very little maintenance. And if you really want them to look neat and have the money there are tons of locticians.

      I've been wanting to do partial dreadlocks starting with maybe 5 at minimum (all over not dreaded under layer like the typical way) and slowly increase the amount till I have a full head. what sections would you suggest I started with? I also have thin straight middle back length hair (knots like crazy) what method would you recommend I tried twist and rip a few year ago and hated it

      This is absolutely horrifying to watch. My whole body cringes watching this woman tear another persons hair up. You’re not gonna get the results that you want from this. It’s absolutely a mistake. If you want dreadlocks use a crochet hook. Or freeform those are the only two methods that aren’t going to completely destroy your hair.

    I had back combed dreadlocks for 3 years. I found that when doing maintenance, the thickness wasn't as easily consistent as with the original dreads so it took quite a bit of stratigic effort to make the width match the length of the lock but it was manageable for sure. If I wasn't patient the roots would turn out thinner. I did find that the back combed locks didn't seem to get frizzy over time, rather the frizz reduced for me along the lock but I would definitely have frizz at the root. It just meant I had to maintain them every 2-3 months to make sure they looked how I liked them since I wasn't a huge fan of frizzy roots. I maintained them with the crochet method only and that was easy enough to maintain. I have straight hair! Great video. Fine tooth comb is definitely worth the investment, metal if you can find one because the plastic ones break and aren't worth the investment if you are maintaining your own.

So I used a fork and about 3 bottles of conditioner and 22 hours later I had straight hair again! I was completely surprised that it was down to my butt! My dreads were only a little bit past my shoulders. Now, I’m back to wanting dreads again and I think I’m going to try this method as it seems to help them lock up way quicker.

      I have straight hair dreads and I found it most useful to pull at kinda of a slant so you're pulling it towards the root. Just think about taking the hook and sticking it into the dread (twist and rip or back comb dread) then try to get the crochet needle around some hair and pulling it to the other side, but at a slight slant and just pull it towards the root. But you gotta do that kinda fast and then you'll get used to just sitting somewhere and crocheting for hours while watching youtube or sum

    omg thank you for the Acai bowl!! I'm slowly going vegetarian and I'm pretty sure that I have diabetes as well but I'm looking for natural foods and going more holistic. Loved your video on instant dreads, so I came here to see if there was something different with the straight hair process. Thanks again!

    Gunther: ”super mature”
    Also gunther: ” you can see loose hair”
    That loose hair means its not mature yet! Of course no hate or anything but i also want people to have the right information and thats just a misconception! Those are not mature yet, yes it give you a very nice start to the maturing process but still not mature yet..

    If you have backcombed dreads there are going to shrink by a lot I have 3C/4A hair and after a month and one retwist my dreads shrinked I did crochet needling and backcombing in my dreads they didn’t shrink tremendously cuz I have a combination of thick and skinny dreads so if you want all your dreads to be thick then I recommend the twist and rip method and follow it up with a crochet needle

  • @SoloPapi
    @SoloPapi 4 года назад +8

    I saw a Black person do this on youtube. I was hella confused as to why they would back comb with curly hair when they can just twist and use the crochet needle. But they did have some heat damage their ends was damanged part straight and curly.
    I've been using the crochet method since 07, I have similar curly hair to yours texture wise. I think my curl pattern is 3c. But some of my hair is just wavy and straight, mostly my sides and around the lower back of my hair. I didn't bother trying to crochet it in with the thicker parts of my hair. I think this will be my last set of locs, I want to keep these ones for life. I usually get bored of my hair after like a year tho. So idk 😂💀

    • @VRALLSTARS17
      @VRALLSTARS17 4 года назад +1

      Tru1ne twist and rip only works with certain type of hair Ik this cuz tried doing it once and all it does that it knots up your hair and I tried crocheting it but it still looked the same I have 3C type hair

    for all the people watching, you could curl your hair first and then crotchet it, that’s what I did have hair that’s in the 2b’s and c’s I curled my hair in small sections to imitate curly hair and it represented a 3c hair type and then continued to crotchet hook, it’s faster and better than just trying to crotchet straight hair and it retains more length.
