Hi, Yeah that tornado was about 5 miles from my family's home. I was out chasing in Iowa that day and actually had to call my family and friends to let them know it was heading straight for them. Fortunately everyone was good.
I enjoyed the videos which came on my phone today! It has been about a year-and-a-half since You Tube brought me any of your videos! I enjoyed very much lively, intelligent, conversation with you sister Amber!
47:32 Laramie 2018 I drove up to Cheyenne from Denver because several convection-allowing models showed conditions favorable for a tornado on the Laramie side of the Laramie mountain range 36 hours in advance and continued to trend up. I was skeptical that anything good would happen there as dry as it typically is so I perched outside Cheyenne until I saw the storm's presentation on radar and the overshooting top. I arrived just in time for tornadogenesis and it was definitely a surprise that it would be so photogenic! No doubt a layer of dry air helped clear out the base for maximum visibility. That it happened outside the 2% tor shows the benefit of making your forecast first and only looking at the SPC outlook for potential validation.
Similarly the Minnesota drill bit day showed up well enough in the models to target the area and I would have hopped over from chasing the prior day in eastern North Dakota but had to be home after chasing up there for a few days. But again no way to know it would be so photogenic & accessible!
Platteville landspout day I had just passed through there an hour earlier on my way to chase 3 days in Montana/North Dakota. Conditions reminded me of a day I saw an EF3 tornado up that way when I was just passing through...not even chasing: www.stormdig.com/storm-pictures/2015/172-june-4-2015 Every bit of weak convection wanting to spin in the low levels...so not entirely convinced this was strictly a conventional landspout process. Maybe a hybrid.
i lived in Windsor Essex County in Ontario and june 20th i got a tornado warning at 10:15pm and the lightning was crazy and i only had a 4 hour night sleep all night it thunderstorming no tornadoes hid in Windsor essex County
I was asleep when the tornado warning was issued, and suprisingly my phone went off our sirens went off and my body was chilling and sleeping. I eventaully woke up and took cover. No damage to my house though. Same with our sreet/block no damage there either. But somehow in March 2022 or 2023 shingles were torn off a house on a block for a svr warned storm of 70 mph wind gusts.
I was in evanston when the first warning was issued. Literally put my phone down 30 seconds before the warning, got in bed, then my phone went off and 15 seconds later came the sirens. Never got a chance to sleep that night, really.
I was in chicago when the tornado touched down and no one was listening to the employee to get inside. Then once it rained like crazy everybody regretted it.
My closest Tornado Was the Oak Forest-Markham Tornado in August 10 2020(EF1)but it dissipated and turned into 90 mph wind straight line wind and will remain my closest tornado
Hey..Just stumbled upon your channel..What an awesome idea for a channel!! I myself love the weather, yet live in an area with relatively boring weather. Keep it up. Don't know how long you've been doing this, but I could easily see a channel like yours being the go to channel when news breaks about an event for many. Take care.
I actually live in Chicago area and it hit in Woodridge and Naperville, I was okay :) When I saw the news there was this guy that didn’t hear anything but, when he turned to show his house he had a hearing aid and his shirt had 2 bears looking at a car with a Stickman family on it bears said “Look! A menu!” We almost bought a house in Woodridge and The tornado was an EF3.
I was actually awake when I noticed the Chicago tornado warning, extremely unusual and just scary because it turned into a tornado emergency quite fast.
my grand parents live around a mile away from where the tornado hit. and yesterday we went to visit them and we got stuck in traffic with a tornado warning.
6:55 two of my cousins, said that their phones woke them up, they turned it off, and went back to sleep, and my uncle was in the basement watching TV when he heard the sirens, but his phone didn't beep so he assumed it was far away. thankfully it was indeed far away but you can imagine how that could have gone differently.
I actually love how that guy was flying around the tornado and it was pretty scary but also fascinating at the same time literally I just recently saw this.
I am in Chicagoland and recently a lot of storms recently, almost the whole week, I took videos but did not see the tornado. The power went out in my area for some time

Another tornado hit Chatsworth, IL yesterday afternoon, we had to take shelter at work even though it was 30 mins southwest!
You should consider uploading just one more video to MeMyselfAndPi. I think it would make a lot of people's days.
