5 Best Invocations for a Hexblade Warlock in D&D
(@2:00) 1. Life Drinker
(@2:39) 2. Maddening Hex
(@3:33) 3. Relentless Hex
(@4:35) 4. Thirsting Blade
(@5:11) 5. Cloak of Flies
I know many people don't go for it, but at lower levels, improved pact weapon is pretty good.
Eldritch Smite is a strong one at later levels, in my experience, especially against huge enemies. It made a difference in "Against the Giants".
Tomb of Levistus is a favorite of mine. Saved my ass several times.
Last, but not least, Devil's Sight, if you're going for the darkness advantage.
I know there's a limited number of invocations you can use, with Thirsting Blade and Lifedrinker being obligatory. But if you get the polearm master feat, Cloak of flies, Maddening Hex and Relentless Hex become less of a priority.
Who on earth isn't taking Improved Pact Weapon?!
Have never taken it.
:)

@@Nerdarchy Wow, I grab it just so I don't have to juggle the focus, a shield, and a weapon.
I've always felt Hexblade was better off with its class features as invocations. If you want to play an effective melee warlock, you have to play this class. You cant take pact of the blade and not have that +cha to hit and damage. It spreads your stats to thin. I would love to personally play a Fathomless Warlock, Pact of the Blade Pirate. But with current set up, its not possible mechanics wise and be effective. Lastly, Dave...Fantastic Shirt! Keep up the great work folks!
Thanks. I love my amazon finds.

I went to third level for that pact weapon. But I wanted to push him into soul knife rogue. I've heard there was a Way of Soul Knife monk.
On the Invocations mentioned in this video:
1. I'd much sooner go with Eldritch Smite than I would Cloak of Flies. Outside of maybe tier 1 play (and some tier 2), Poison damage is generally either resisted or is completely ineffective, depending on the campaign that the PC is in.
2. Thirsting Blade and Lifedrinker are both reasonably decent choices. Completely agree here.
3. For Relentless Hex and Maddening Hex: both Improved Pact Weapon and Devil's Sight get the nod for me over these two, since the damage from both Improved Pact Weapon and Devil's Sight (via advantage) tends to outweigh the perceived mobility (to your target) and nominal Psychic damage from the other two Invocations.
As a final thought, one thing that I think some people forget is that the Hexblade isn't per sé a front-line martial; it's more of a rear-line martial, that can operate as a front-line martial, in the unlikely event that there are no front-line martial PC's in the party. They don't really have the Hit Dice (much less HP) or Armor proficiencies compared to a traditional front line martial (i.e., Barbarian, Paladin, or Fighter) that can help them stay in melee.
Devil’s Sight for cheese
Me playing a Ranger who is classing deeper and deeper into warlock: *insta click*
So hunters mark or hex?

Elderich smite is vital for a hexblade. It’s the best way to turn those critical hits into massive damage nukes
9 minute video. 2 minutes of telling us what you're going to be telling us, and commercials.
No eldritch smite? Other than that, you are spot on really.
Warlock gets to few spells unless you are short resting often. I'd rather use that slot for hex. As it levels up that spell slot lasts for more and more combats regardless of how many rests you get.
Nerdarchist Dave
@@Nerdarchy Against a boss monster though it'll do more damage than hex will do in a while battle though. Against a flying monster, it'll win the fight. On a crit, it'll make a story to tell forever. You don't randomly eldritch smite (just as you don't randomly hex, also hex scrolls are 25gp and a day of downtime ;) )
Eldritch Smite is nothing to sneeze at.
It's good, but very rest dependant. In a long battle you'll get more mileage out of hex. Or at hirer levels when hex might last for several encounters.

I would say fiendish vigor is a big one.
Especially when it comes to the invocation feat. Works great for a wizard as a contender for armor of shadows. It's basically an extra hit dice of hp.
@@dragonhearthx8369 and you can expect to have it at minimum once per combat if you get hit at least once, as you can max it out between fights. So if you have 3 fights in one day and they aren't waves where you can't do much between them, that's 24 free HP
@@geoffreyperrin4347 And for wizard that's the difference between life-and-death.
@@dragonhearthx8369 True, and for a melee warlock like the video is about it can make you feel like you actually have the hit dice of a barbarian, though without the rage feature
Gotta go with Devil’s Sight on my Drow Warlock. By level 7, I get free Advantage against any creature without truesight / blindsight for a full 1 minute. Combo that with Elven Accuracy as your 4th level Feat. and you have Super Advantage, instead for that subsequent duration.
Truesight doesn't work against Shadow of Moil, as Heavily Obscured blocks vision entirely - Truesight still requires sight as normal.
I always worry about this combo as blinding my party but I think next campaign I’m going to give it a whirl.
First!
No Shroud of Shadow?
Engagement
Thanks.

Cloak Of Flies is a must.
The push/pull effects for Eldritch Blast do wonders for getting enemies into traps or hazards on the field, add in Devil's Sight and you've got a good multiclass with Rogue Assassin
