He is the closest jedi to obi wan to the teachings of the jedi order and resolution in the end to be true to his principles and ideals he learned over his years early and adulthood. Tbh it seemed they forced his own ending to his story, but it is a reminder to the jedi way of compassion and sacrifice , cliche but relatable.

"if you can see yourself, you will never be truly blind kanan jarrus, jedi knight." "I wish I could see you..." "you could always see me" *clip of getting eyesight back saving the people he loves*
yes! loved Kanan... he knew he had to risk his life to save a loved one, there was no fear, there was no guessing who he was, or what he could or could not do, all there was, was the force, what was supposed to happen, and in that moment, he was one with the force... loved this so much. It really shows how love between people can be strong and is not always a path to the dark side, since the Jedi were so afraid of attachment and such.
Edit: after watching this video like a million times I only just now noticed that in the scene where Kanan is saving Hera, the hand thats near the fire is shaking, while the hand that's holding Hera is still. Its a small detail, but still a really awesome one. its like a contrast of two different sides of the force... really beautiful. How one can be shaking from strain, and fear of losing loved ones, yet the other one is literally the most still thing in the entire scene, protecting the person that makes him at peace, while hes in the middle of it, one with both sides of this contrast, is able to see himself clearly and what his purpose is and is one with the force because of that, regaining his eyesight. Kanans death really is a masterfully directed and composed scene. Dave Filoni is the man.

Caleb Dume aka Kanan Jarrus was a true Jedi Knight and deserves the title of Master. Not only did he teach the ways of the Force, he taught about Life. Which is exactly what the Jedi Order lacked. Jedi's didn't fall to the Dark Side because of the Force, they fell because they lacked skills at dealing with life. This was also the Jedi curriculum that Luke developed in the now not canon books.

I think I just came to a realization...
Kanan ran when his master was going to die, she said run and he did
After the grand inquisitor told him how he ran from fear kanan realized he needed to redeem his actions by saving his family (I say family cause the ghost crew was more family than crew) when being physically blind we gained his sight back because he truly recognized what his destiny in the force was, to save the ones he loved so they could free Lothal.
In the end he didn’t really die, his identity within the force lived on.

It may be spelled "Dume," but based on how it sounds, it's ironic what the word "Doom" means. We always give it a negative connotation, but in the original Old English, "doom" simply meant a person's fate, both good and/or bad. The word it resembles the most in our modern dictionary would be "Destiny." Kanan was doomed/destined to be the Jedi Knight he once tried to outrun. But on Lothal, Caleb Dume fulfilled his destiny.

You truly have a gift for this. How do I know? Because I've never seen a full episode of Rebels, only pieces of videos on RUclips and learned the basics of what happens....... and this STILL made me have so much respect and emotional connection with a character. Again, I've never seen a single episode but your video has captured the struggle of this guy so perfectly that I'm sad he's gone. You really are an amazing creator.

I just wanna say, thank you so much for doing these videos. No series has resonated with me in a way that Star Wars has, and these videos emphasize the exact reason why. Many Sci-Fi shows and movies have just seemed goofy and odd to me personally, but Star Wars just seems timeless. I know there has been a lot of divide with new films and canon, but at least everybody can relate in some way to the stories Lucasfilms tells us. Making the right decisions, Hope, and Failure are just some of the many lessons that anybody can learn, I know I have.
You've portrayed what we all love about Star Wars with The Chosen One, The Last Jedi, The Scavenger, and now Kanan's story. So thank you for making these videos and inspiring me as a content creator!
Cheers, you have yourself a long time fan. :)

I taught children, guided them through teenage years, attended their High School Graduations, helped them to bury their parents, attended their weddings and finally saw life again as their first born children were brought into this world.
