Listening to your story of Christmas dinners reminded me of mine. I remember sticky rice as stuffing in the turkey and all our relatives crowded in our small home in Chinatown. I learned to make this in the rice cooker and mix it all up in there but the rice is always clumpy and doesn’t mix too well. Still taste great though, will have to try the IP to steam. Another addition you can do that is a total game changer are peanuts. Just toss a handful in a wok with some oil to get some slight char on them and mix them in with the other ingredients and it definitely ups the mouthfeel game to another level.
Walmart rocks. They sell chinese sausage! I love my aunt's sticky rice. She makes it risotto style, stir fry. Has such firm al dente bite. I hear you about the bits of ingredients. It helps to get a balanced mouthful. A little of everything in one fell spoonful!

We have a womens ceremony where we recite our female ancestors and those that we’ve given birth too etc. in a specific order. I know their names and I know what some of them look like by old photographs but that is all. Thinking of you w/your great-grandmother really warms my heart! Such wisdom you must’ve gotten from her and LOVE!

One of my favorite dishes ever because my professional-chef grandfather made it with uncooked rice until it was cooked...all in the wok. 😮 It would take him hours to make because it took so long for the rice to cook in the wok. I made your instant pot recipe for this a couple of years ago...that was so awesome. I can't wait to try this recipe! Thanks for bringing back those memories.

I made sticky rice with sticky rice that I ordered on Amazon it's sticky rice and I bought it vegetable steamer to put over the pan and then they should get the cheese cloth and I just how I did it turn out pretty good
Hoisan boy here! Sticky rice is used in dong too! My sister use to send me already prepared sticky rice imported from Taiwan. It's in plastic bag and you just heat it up in boiling water!( For me there's no meat! Yeah)

Wow, my dad used to go all out with the preserved meats with not only Chinese sausage but Chinese pork belly and dried salted leg of duck. Tasty but my mom disapproved with all the saturated fat content. Oh well...times change. Funny thing..found that a garish of cilantro gives it an additional favor to the dish. Merry Christmas guys!!

I do this, but with Mexican chorizo instead of Chinese sausage (also use Taiwanese sausage over mainland kind as it tastes better, same with cooking wine). Great video!

Love sticky rice! Rice cooker is also an easy way to cook the rice. If you like cilantro, have you tried adding chopped cilantro for added flavor?
