Looks pretty (expensive). Partnered with OmniWall, translation they sent you over $1000 of free product to cover a 4x8 section of wall. I'm no banker but after doing some math in my head...think I will keep my French Cleats!

Over a grand for a few wall mount tool holders. That's more than I spent on my mac top/bottom chest combo. Takes up less space and holds more tools. So handy this is. Things like a specialized hook with a plastic tab and aerospace engineering to make a peg to hang a speed square. Know what else works just like that and doesn't 'fall out'? A nail. BOOM, complete solution and for around $4.50 you can get a pack with around 45 of those bad boys. Speed squares for days hanging on the wall at a cost of a dime each. And another $30 for this and $30 for that and $180 for another small piece. One thing's for sure, this system is indeed for 'tools'.
FYI for everyone still using peg board. They make plastic clamps that hold those hangers in and they work very well. Long as you have those plastic holders attached the hanger will not fall off.
It looks nice, but also expensive. I can make french cleats any way/size I want out of scrap in my shop. It's hard to beat the price and utility of that.
Looks like an incredible system. Feelings are mutual on traditional pegboard. So frustrating when the holder come out when removing tools. Glad these folks thought of a solid way to prevent that from happening.
Not sure how a $1000+ system is better than a French cleat wall. If you have Eff You money, maybe. Most of us on here do not, however I do appreciate the video.... :)
I know someone has already mentioned a heat gun for label removal. Sometimes adhesive residue gets left behind. Residue comes off quick and easy with a little WD40 and a rag or paper towel. I use this method all the time. Shop looks great!
Nice system, but it is expensive at nearly $850 for the 4x8' coverage it provides. My suggestion for an accessory... a tape and/or sandpaper roll mount... at least 6-8" wide (or more) to hold a few types and allow you ti pull and dispense.
I’m currently turning my garage into my wood shop. I’ve gotten too old to be doing remodeling work with a few exceptions. Two years ago I started collecting the tools and falling trees required to build furniture. I haven’t had to pay for any of my lumber as long as i did the cleanup. I have a mobile slab machine and use my basement to dry them. I’m going through all my tools and organizing now. I’m building my work table currently. I liked what you built for your table and used it along with a couple other guys I subscribed to. Keep killing it brother 👍.
I am an avid woodworker and have been for many years as I am now 73 years of age. I couldn’t help noticing your Psalm 71 T-shirt so I looked it up. I read this beautiful psalm and it spoke directly to me, since I have recently gone through a rough time. Just one of the many ways God speaks to us; thank you for your testimony.
Hi Matt, I’ve been a follower for a while. I’m a UK based part-time amateur wood-worker and I follow a lot of people from around the world. Whilst I don’t always have access to some of the tools/materials/suppliers that you do. I find that your skills, experience, presenting style and all-round authenticity are totally international, fabulously endearing and massively useful. Your tips and videos are invaluable and totally addictive. I’ve learned a great deal from you and always look forward to your next instalment. I’ve a sizeable list of international makers that I really respect and love (UK/US and indeed everywhere else) and just want to you let you (and them) know the positive effect you have on me as a maker.
Nice setup! On my walls I have LED light strips every 4 feet abover the workbench, and have them all wired into a circuit I control with a switch mounted on/in the wall board above the workbench. This way I can turn them all on or off with one switch, while working at the workbench. And since my entry door is 50 feet across the shop I wired all my shop lights(including those workbench lights, wired to the ceiling lights circuits), fan controls, air compressor, big screen TV and bluetooth stereo to a switch panel mounted next to that personal entry door. This way I can turn off everything on, or off, when I open up or leave without having to walk all over the shop to each individual item to shut it down after a long, exhausing night in the shop. Plus, I put a ring doorbell camera in my shop so my wife can check on me from anywhere and talk to me,when I'm not making a lot of noise of coarse, without having to walk out to the shop. She even does it from her phone, so, from anywhere. (My older brother died from a heart attack last Oct in his shop and his wife didn't find him for 2 hours..?)
Oh wow, that's a heck of a system! Looks good, Matt! I've been using french cleats around my small shop, but I've been looking for something I could use for some of smaller tools/items. I may try to figure out mounting something like this to the french cleats.
I'll be sticking with French cleats and pegboard. This looks good, but for $900 (even for $810 with the sale Amazon has on it atm), I think it's too expensive. It's definitely too much for me personally. It does solve a problem, but it creates a new one (a big hole in the old wallet LOL). French cleats are arguably stronger, and can be made from plywood for strength, or particle board or mdf for cost savings. I've used scraps to make parts and never once broken one. Omniwall looks very hard to expand without buying new parts. Pegboard is bad, but there is a place for it (as this shows). With the right setup and use case, it's a great product. But the hooks falling off is VERY annoying. They make clips to solve that problem, so I don't see that it really is THAT big of a problem. Certainly not enough that I'd want to spend $800+ on a system with many of the other issues of pegboard (space needed behind it, but that's solved too. Weight limitations. And limitations for where you can out something.) I definitely wouldn't turn it down if someone gave it to me, and I'd even consider $500 for a 4x8' area if I had a lot of things I wanted accessible on a wall. However, it seems like the company really just put lipstick on a pig after giving it a shower. It's still pegboard, just without the cost effectiveness, and adding constraints on the sizes of panels.
"100% Better Than French Cleats for Tool Organization" Translated: 100% of his money stays in his pocket. Nothing wrong with getting free stuff whatsoever but come on, just say it's another way of organization.
Someone probably already commented this, but if you need to remove labels or stickers, heat them up with a blow dryer or heat gun. They'll come off smooth as butter and not leave a residue.
Great system. Obviously a lot of features available and a comprehensive system for organization. I just have a problem spending over $1000 for a peg board and shelf system.
@@braytonmiller3832 Look, I love his projects and the tools but yes, I can't afford them but it gives me incentive to find alternatives to do the same thing. It's OK.
This is a nice looking system, and get how it’s more secure than French cleats. Creating different solutions for French cleats is another advantage. It would be cool if this system allowed you to create your storage while leveraging their connectors to the unit. This would then add exceptional versatility.
It’s not just south Arkansas. Many homes throughout the south had open carports instead of garages. Often times these carports eventually get turned into garages. That’s why many homes throughout the south have siding in their garage.
I've had green chalkboards in my us school (as an exchange student), in Russia we had all kinds, generally black and brown were prevalent, green was more rare.
Actually very nice! Looks good, seems to be very functional. The only thing i would add: With that metal frame and everything... I would use magnets a lot more.
Merica! That’s upper level organization. I’m still using peg board and I spend about 2-5 minutes looking all over it to find where something is hanging to only realize I’ve looked over it 10 times 😂
I’ve six panels and a variety of attachments. Only two drawbacks - accessories pricing and some of the standard hooks are a little light weight. Don’t expect to put anything heavy on the medium or long hooks without them bending some. Also would be nice to have some “U” shaped hooks. I didn’t receive a tool for removing the plastic hooks, which are usually only good for one use. Still all said, a very nice system.
Nice system, but not cheap. I currently have 8' x 16' of french cleat across the long wall in my shop. To convert that same footprint to Omniwall would probably run about $3K. That;'s Festool money right there. 🤪 Also the advantage of the french cleat is it's 100% customizable. You could hang a kitchen sink or a lawnmower if you really wanted to.
By the way I deal with two organization is I try to keep tools that are related to a certain work area or device like drill press gets drill bits router station gets the router bits, the table saw gets saw blades and related, a bench-top tool box(It's a great place to store clamps up 42" long.) is located on the 'I-reinforced-it!' (gave it a couple extra legs over the floor joists.) 'work-bench' that came with the shed. It also is the battery charger hub, bench top storage of the battery powered tool arsenal. Under that bench are also kept the corded tools; a circular saw, a drill, an impact screw driver, a sawzall, And a corded gigsaw. I have a roll-around toolbox that is mobile. The assembly table has a tool tray with a handle that can be slid around on the table, or removed completely. I'm outta room truthfully. I can't do the projects that the assembly table could easily handle because shop space is roughly 1/2 what would be required. I'm currently saving to purchase, or at least 80% of the cost of permit, purchase and set-up of a much larger shed. The office is in the house, cause saw dust and computers don't mix. Packaging material is also stored in the house, currently, the living room. (Wife's not over the moon about that.😬) I sure said a lot to say that the need for organized Wall storage could not be overstated. To help clean up some of the crap in the shop and have storage space and assembly space in a way overcrowded unit.
Suggestion on taking the labels off, get a long trough and put Very Hot Water with some detergent in the trough, it will weaken the glue. Once it is soft, use a plastic paint scraper the label will come off rather easily. Next take some butter and spread it on the place where the label was, the oil in the butter will weaken the glue even more, the just wash off with a rag, dry everything well and no label or glue on the support parts. It works on most glued labels.
I think this system is really cool but definitely a later in my life buy. Ill stick to cleats for now because they are cheaper and I can customize it for any tool i want to hang with a little imagination.
Omniwall Recommendation... they need to cut their color choices down to a maximum of 3! Sure, it's nice for the consumer to have so many color choices, but this is a nightmare for a company. Not only do they need inventory for their system but because of the 36 different color choices, they need 36x the inventory! I'd rather see Omniwall last as a company and use their resources in more R&D to develop more and better storage ideas. Omniwall, warehouses with product is worse than not profitable; you're paying a premium for that storage space, so it is costly to store all these different colors and accessories.
Great video and that wall looks sick... I know I'm a little late and maybe someone already mentioned it, but use a hot air tool or hair drier to melt the glue on the sticker and they come off super easy. If there is anything left, use a little goo-gone and it's as if they were never there.
A very easy to install system. The plastic pins holding the hooks in place are clever. Laughed out loud at the booger quip. Keep the engaging content coming. Cheers 👍
Your set up turned out great! Thank you for the positive feedback, we are working out the details to add the OmniWall pattern to the side of the shelves.
Yes on the blackboards in the old catholic school as a kid. Also lemon essential oil would have taken those stickers right off and cleaned it all up without harming the paint at all. Looks great!!
These are very useful. I inherited one from my son. (Reverse-inherited?) My only gripe is the exposed tools now get very dusty with time, considerably more so than when they were in a cabinet or drawer.
I am normally right there with your suggestions and the things you endorse or are sponsoring, but this one I’m not a fan of at all. I love my French cleat walls and the versatility of being able to build any kind of holder out of scraps and have exactly what I want where I want it. The other thing is the cost as others have mentioned … I invested a whopping $75 plus screws into my French cleat wall and i have built my holders out of scrap both from my projects and free scraps from a local cabinet shop. I also really enjoy building my holders with my kids so this one is a miss for me my friend. I ain’t mad at ya tho! Lol. Gotta get them sponsors and it does seem like a decent product for those that don’t want to build their own and have money to burn. For me at least I give French cleats a 98% better option score. Love your channel and thank you for your service as an officer. 🤜🤛
Thank you. This one is costly. I looked at several options and this is the one I wanted out of everything available. I reached out to Omniwall and they agree to partner with me on this video. I preferred the overall look of this to a French cleat system. And I love all the accessories it has
It is not the look of French cleats that I hate- it is the inefficiency of space usage. Omniwall is, at the end of the day, pegboard. Nothing wrong with that, but there are cheaper ways to achieve it. Like all commercial systems, it is a compromise- they do not know what tools you will mount. Invest a fraction of the cost of this wall in a 3D printer and you have individual tool fit mounts available.
Awesome system, only thing I can think of might be some grommets to protect cables from rubbing on the holes on the side of the trays, other than that, jealous that it isn't sold in West Australia.
You should have used Goof Off for those stickers. Be that as it may, this is a really neat system and my new garage needs organization in a bad way. I'm going to check this out for sure! Also, thank you so much for your service as a LEO. That was my life-long dream, but I was always beat out by the competition. Every time I took a test, 200 people showed up, and they were only hiring academy trained people (obviously to save the money of sending someone through the academy). So, the officers that showed up from other cities/towns/etc., to test for those positions were obviously going to be chosen. So, I ended up serving in the military for 22 years instead. In any event, thanks for yet another great video! I'm excited to check this system out for my garage!
$800 for metal pegboard… come on! I appreciate that they sponsored you and ya gotta pay the bills, but that’s crazy. Any woodworker, weekend warrior should be able to make some pegboard and some shelves.
Go price enough plywood to make one of these, then factor in the time it would take to make all the shelves and tool holders. To me, the time savings itself is worth it.
Seems very well built but I like to build custom. I like my tools in a rollable cart or a caddy I just bring to the bench. All my chisels are in an easy to grab caddy, time wasted going over to get something you forgot. Looking forward to the next video.
I have had good luck using a heat gun to heat up the adhesive on stickers and they will come right off. Clean up the adhesive residue with Goo Off or some other safe solvent.
Hi Matt, I laughed when you mentioned the blackboard, a few times in grade school I had the job of taking the erasers outside to clean them, you probably remember the mimeograph machine too.
Use a heat gun or a torch is quicker on stickers. Obviously if you use the torch just a quick blast to loosen the adhesive. Works great on wood stickers as well. Especially ply aka the worst ones!
With all due respect Matt, over a 1,000 bucks is a lot of money to organize your shop. You should have just taken care of what you had and built it out. It would have been a whole lot less expensive and more interesting as you would do video's on making shop furniture etc. But to each there own, though most of us don't have that sort of money to spend on products which are convenient.
Good for you, young feller. May you have many happy years woodworking. Be a lot more serious than Matt about protecting your lungs from sawdust and other harmful things. Most people only get one set of lungs.
I’m in Texarkana and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a house around here with siding in the garage. We have either drywall or paneling. It must be a central Arkansas thing lol.
Nothing says woodworking like using expensive metal brackets etc...nice storage system however I'll take my my money and upgrade my tools and build my own storage solutions.
Pegboards suck even with the plastic clips. French cleat is the best system especially if you have extra wood. Can build something to fit any tool or thing. You have to wait to the company to come out with an accessory hook to fit a new tool…
I've enjoyed having this system. I agree that you can get more custom with French cleats. But everything I've wanted to store/organzie on this wall I've been able to. And, not all peg boards suck, this one doesn't. Everything is secure, never moves. And for someone like me who does not like the French cleat look, this works better for me.

Merica! That’s upper level organization. I’m still using peg board and I spend about 2-5 minutes looking all over it to find where something is hanging to only realize I’ve looked over it 10 times 😂
😍 looks like a great system. I'll have to check it out for myself! Love your content. Viewing from Canada.
$1,000 for a 4' x 8' pegboard? You do you.
I do
This is a very nice system brother! And you did a fine job organizing the layout of everything.
Love the new miter station
Looks great!
(Contemplates not building French cleat system)
Nope.
Cool system, but too rich for my blood.
(Wife's not over the moon about that.😬)
I sure said a lot to say that the need for organized Wall storage could not be overstated.
I watch a lot of woodworking videos but you are my fav. Thank you for all of the content you produce!
Wow, thank you!
1000 dollars! Holy shit lol yeah imma stick with building my own wall storage 😂😂
You can heat the info sticker on items with a lighter for about 6 seconds and peel them right off
I think this system is really cool but definitely a later in my life buy. Ill stick to cleats for now because they are cheaper and I can customize it for any tool i want to hang with a little imagination.
that is awesome how it snaps in quick and securely!
Siding inside the garage is a new one for me
Great video and that wall looks sick... I know I'm a little late and maybe someone already mentioned it, but use a hot air tool or hair drier to melt the glue on the sticker and they come off super easy. If there is anything left, use a little goo-gone and it's as if they were never there.
$900!!!! I’ll just spray paint my peg board black. It’s cool though.
Wow small world I live near monticello
Nice install
A very easy to install system. The plastic pins holding the hooks in place are clever. Laughed out loud at the booger quip. Keep the engaging content coming. Cheers 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Your set up turned out great! Thank you for the positive feedback, we are working out the details to add the OmniWall pattern to the side of the shelves.
Awesome! Can't wait to see that!
Cool video, I think you sold me on this weekend warrior kit. Been looking for something like this to clear the clutter. Thanks.
It's a great system. I've enjoyed having it in the shop.
They do siding in a garage in Tennessee and North Carolina too.
Yes on the blackboards in the old catholic school as a kid. Also lemon essential oil would have taken those stickers right off and cleaned it all up without harming the paint at all. Looks great!!
Looks great. Looking forward to the rest of the build
if you wanna get stickers off, hit them with a hair dryer, or heat gun. they come right off.
Hi from Colorado. No, it's not normal. Carry on.
👊🏻
Just found your channel this morning. Happy to be able to support a fellow Arkansan, and learn woodworking at the same! WPS!
WD-40 removes that sticky glue from the stickers really easy :)
A small torch will also burn off the paper and glue.
Awesome system, only thing I can think of might be some grommets to protect cables from rubbing on the holes on the side of the trays, other than that, jealous that it isn't sold in West Australia.
Want to say hello and thanks for your videos from NWA.
To remove stickers from any thing use lighter fluid, it works wonderfully
Use a heat gun or blow dryer on the labels covering screw holes. Will peel off like butter.
That's some kind of fancy peg board you got there
You should have used Goof Off for those stickers.
Nice! But are you kidding me, who can afford this system? I would rather have tools in a box than this wall system and no tools
@@731Woodworks off course you are paid for it but i was prefering your channel went you where doing woodworking instead of advertizing
@@731Woodworks I did my french cleat wall with pallet wood, didn't cost me anything, plus making it is part of the woodworking experience 🤷♀️
Seems very well built but I like to build custom. I like my tools in a rollable cart or a caddy I just bring to the bench. All my chisels are in an easy to grab caddy, time wasted going over to get something you forgot.
Looking forward to the next video.
I used to like your channel when you actually built stuff. Now it is nothing more than an infomercial. JMO.
🤷♂️
Seems like it was just last year... watching you assemble that (old) miter saw station...
This is awesome! Thank you! 😀
I would love this but that price is scary. French cleat is the way to go for me!
They should include some hangers that you can screw onto a piece of wood so you can make custom hangers for the wall.
I really like that system and it looks freakin cool!! Thanks Mighty Matt!!!
Thanks Lloyd
Hey brother get some Q-Tips & rubbing alcohol, they will make quick work on those stickers. Awesome tool wall brother!
Me too. That was a coveted job among us kids lol
I do like the gym shelves
Use a heat gun or a torch is quicker on stickers. Obviously if you use the torch just a quick blast to loosen the adhesive. Works great on wood stickers as well. Especially ply aka the worst ones!
With all due respect Matt, over a 1,000 bucks is a lot of money to organize your shop. You should have just taken care of what you had and built it out. It would have been a whole lot less expensive and more interesting as you would do video's on making shop furniture etc. But to each there own, though most of us don't have that sort of money to spend on products which are convenient.
I just finished 8th grade and every room in my school had a blackboard and we still used it.
Good for you, young feller. May you have many happy years woodworking. Be a lot more serious than Matt about protecting your lungs from sawdust and other harmful things. Most people only get one set of lungs.
To get the 1/2" plywood sheet up, could you have screwed a cleat on the bottom of the bottom 2x4 as a lip to hold it while you screwed it in?
I’m in Texarkana and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a house around here with siding in the garage. We have either drywall or paneling. It must be a central Arkansas thing lol.
Use a hairdryer or heat gun on the labels, they will come off easily👍
Love it, mate, I need this!
Nothing says woodworking like using expensive metal brackets etc...nice storage system however I'll take my my money and upgrade my tools and build my own storage solutions.
🙄
You could take a dremel tool and make some slots and holes on the side of that shelf to fit your t-square hook
Thanks man, I really enjoy your vidjyas bud.
Thank you!
Great tool wall system!
That is very cool.
