THIS is how you can easily seat and seal a lawn tractor tire bead that refuses to...

  • Do this at your own risk. I assume you all know how to mount the tire, and remove the valve stem with the small tool. I used this blowgun thing, but it might work with the regular tire chuck, it is that easy! MAKE SURE you soapy water scrub the inside of the tire before doing this. You don't want to suck out any chemicals they use on new tires. I've been mulling this over in my mind for days. I've tried keeping the tires expanded overnight, the belt around the tread thing, the soapy water, heavy duty tape, and the bucket trick that someone else did. That came the closest to working, but it wasn't enough for these tires. When these small tires are compressed for weeks or months before you purchase them, they are pretty hard, not pliable and not flexible enough to expand even with straight air to sit against the rim. I tried this completely underwater in this sink with just cold water and the air just bubbled out. I then decided to try hot water, maybe it would be enough to warm the tire from within and make it more flexible. It made ALL the difference. I decided to save some people some headaches and make this video for my second tire. I didn't want to use an inner tube. They have failed me before and you're back to square one again, plus the cost of a new valve.

This worked!!!! After 10 other videos doing the same thing finally something that works! Thank you!!

I tried this only to stop in the middle because i realized it will rust from the inside out with the water.

I couldn't see how this would work but it did. I tried all kinds of other things before trying your method. Worked like a charm. Using a squirt bottle to get the water out is pure genius! Thanks

Works, yes ... but you might as well mark your calendar for later in the season, to address leaking beads again, due to rust.

No, the bead will squeegee out any water, no water should be trapped. They're still holding air as of today.

      @@imgonnagogetthepapersgetth8347,
      Just be patient.
      Its already rusting.
You're just in denial, at the moment.

Air compressors hold as much water as is in the repaired tire. @@imgonnagogetthepapersgetth8347

There are much better ways to do this...

This hot water method is way more sloppy for my taste. I'll use starter fluid or a racket strap. Used both ways and both ways work "easily".
The starter fluid method is shockingly safe just use 3 quick 1/2 sec bursts and light her up and "POP" goes the weasel.
But your first move is to see if you can't bear hug it to seal the bead I just bear hugged an 11 x 4.00 - 5 and that is a small tire. Thanks for your contribution to science its obvious that it has a drawback with removing moisture but also long term future rust issues.

Now you will have water in the tire, just use an inner tube and the tire will not leak even when it dry rots.

Instead of the water, just use a small bucket or better yet, a rubber livestock feed bowl if you have one. Put tape on the backside over any holes in the wheel, put soapy water around the rim of the bucket (or optionally a wet towel over the top if it you have trouble getting it to seal) and of course on the tire beads. Press down on the wheel to seal the top bead while using the blowgun with the valve core removed. The bucket or bowl contains the air allowing sufficient pressure to build to seat the beads. Simple and done without the water issue.

Yeah I tried the bucket thing, and the bucket and wet towel thing but my tires were too deformed and plastic-like to seal on the bottom mating surface with the edge of the bucket.

Starter fluid and ignite. That get you seated everytime without water hassle

Didn't want to risk breaking these small cheap tires... but I DID consider trying that.

They changed the formula for Starter Fluid recently.
It does not "poof" like it used to.
They did this to reduce liability, since morons were getting injured, burned, and accidentally setting tires on fire and burning their garage down.
You might be able to use solvent alcohol, in a pump sprayer, but I have not tried that.

Yes you can, and you should asap. Just have to get the straw straight down to the lowest point where the water is pooling, just like in the video.

@@imgonnagogetthepapersgetth8347 Not gonna work well in Wisconsin. You'll never get all the water out and first freeze is gonna unbead the tire. Well, you can get it all out if letting the tire sit for a week in the sun without the valve installed. Most of us have to use the machine before that.
