I still chant to myself Campbell's "Excellent Snake!" from the first game's VR Missions when I'm successful at something. It's even more immersive if you consider Snake is literally part of my online name 😂
I always thought the falling ledge grab mission was SCARY. Having a Lv.1 grip and trying to climb around like that made me nervous, i fell twice but managed to do it.
That's the kind of stuff you either stumble upon by complete chance or by spending an unreal amount of time playing this game. In my case, it was both lol
To anyone struggling with this (edit: lvl 4), this is my method: Jump to the lower platform. Use all the pentazemin at one go. Use the lethal psg. Got 3rd place if you care about that stuff. You can do it!!
malcolm fenech I assume you're talking about the sniping stage. The absolute best method for this type of stage, I found, has been just letting the enemies spawn in and learn the order. Just so you can know, if you miss your shots, where exactly you have to fall back with your aim next. You should be able to make it if your goal is not 1st place, by just having a general idea of where they come from, and using any of the snipers. The advantage of PSG1-T is that if you hit one of the guys that are far away on a part that isn't an insta-sleeper, odds are they'll fall asleep before they get to the target. And the no-kill bonus helps with the score. With that said, everyone has a different method that works with their play style, which is what I love about VR Missions. So all I can hope is that my videos helped at least one person to beat the mission or get that 1st place score :)
Yep sorry the sniping stage. I agree people have diff play styles and spent 2 hrs trying with the tranq gun. Just couldn't do it as my aim sucks. And yes your vids are of great help. Am doing the 6th one right now :)
Yeah, they are. But eventually you realize it's a pattern you can learn, just like all the other missions. So it all becomes a matter of memorizing and hitting shots. I guess you can panic spam when you're not sure you've hit a good one. lol It's the whole reason i didn't keep retrying until i got a perfect run and settled for less, because i feel like people need to know you don't have to be perfect to beat these.
What is exactly the point of these missions? To test the gameplay limits of the game? l remember in old video games like Time splitters 2, you would have a lot new game modes after completing the story mode. You would meet unique situations that story mode didn't had. The same applies to MGS. What happened? Why games don't have this fun additions? It proves to me the gameplay depth and the creativity of the people behind the missions. Because they are a lot here and they also train you in specific skills of the game You can also beat the special modes well before playing story mode and really makes you feel like Raiden, completing all 300 missions. immersion!

"Well, I mean, you can technically attempt this stunt, but then you'll have to continue the mission without having both of your arms." "What are you even talking about, Otacon?" "... Nevermind, just be careful with yourself, alright?" "Uhh, sure, I guess..."
Well, yeah, it's kinda supposed to be. I thought about applying some kind of brightness filter when editing, but it looked... wrong. Sorry if it bothers you.
I'm not fluent in spanish, but i think this means "I can never finish these"? If that's the case, then no, you can do it for sure! Just practice a bit more. :D
Well, actually, that's only if you're on Xbox like me. The Playstation 2 (i think PS3 and up don't have this either) controller actually has pressure sensitive buttons: so you'd push all the way down to charge at full strength. So it kinda depends on what version you play.
When I finish virtual training at my job sometimes I hear Otacon say: “Congrats Snake!” in my head because of these missions.

The giant guard from MGS1 sounds like an elephant XD
Had no idea you could put the chaff Grenade in the guard’s head lol

Today I learned you can insta-kill Mech Genola with Chaff Grenades, M1 Tank style.
I'm Today Years old learning you could just throw a chaff grenade into Mech Genola... Damn!
This kind of details is why I'll never stop loving this series. :D

Is there a Oculus Rift VR Mission? I think that would be a more realistic version of how the soldier trained
Maybe they'll do it if MGS resurrects with the Remake and all that.

How you lunch grenade so far ?
You hold down the button. The longer you hold it, the more strength the throw has. 😉

There are two types of people: those who love the sniping mission, and those who hate it.
