As a podiatrist, I can’t agree with most of this advice! Once bunions developed and you are genetically prone it won’t really reverse but you can do things to help with the pain. Having a bunion doesn’t meant you need surgery however. That is only reserved for people with pain and that is the main thing being treated. Shoe wear makes a difference yes. Weight loss won’t really make a difference. I’m not sure how effective these exercises really are. Bunion pads are great! Again main indication for surgery is pain
How do you know these methods are not working?????you tried them on your patients and they did not work?? Or you r saying it bc that s what you r taught at school???
Since you are a podiatrist, I want to let you know that a bunch of women I know who had surgeries said it didn't help, and actually theirs didn't go away either. Proper shoe gear will help slow the progression of the deformity if it’s early and not at its end stage. 2) All of these suggestion are pretty much BS. The only way for symptom control is padding, shoe gear modifications which they mention, but they are not easy to get into shoes really. 3) the only way to structurally fix your bunion is through surgery.
