Coach, love the channel and the hard work you guys put in each episode. Now, this is one of the great ones. There is nothing easier in sports than place the blame of a result in the refs which generally don't have a voice; and Mr. Nunn does an outstanding job breaking down the other side. Being an athlete myself I can understand the frustration of losing, but this is the healthiest of ways to deal with the loss and moving on from a pointless debate. Great stuff from both and it would be awesome to have him break down more NBA stuff in the playoffs. Thanks, big fan.
I knew we got fleeced in this game. I'm not going to completely blame the refs because Wisconsin couldn't get anything going down the stretch but they would've had more opportunities if the correct calls were called. You should do one on the Kentucky game so I can stop hearing UK fans complain about UW getting all the calls that game
Great video! Not a Duke fan here. But to be fair, shouldn't the last play be a loose-ball foul in the first place? #24 seemed to have hit #12 on the head and body 2-3 times to get the ball loose after missing his shot. Anyway, it was a great championship game!
How come they don't mention the Okafor strip was his 3rd foul and he had to sit and the foul on Kaminsky should've been intentional he never went for the ball.
I'm sorry duke got some calls in the 2nd half that helped them. Plus ball out on Winslow, and other play Winslow stepped out of bounds, should have been Wisconsin ball, clear as day no excuses. I also feel that at times this guy on the video making too many excuses on behalf of the referees. Now I'm not saying that Wisconsin would have not lost this game if it weren't for some of the calls or the outs on Winslow but it helped duke. And I am a Duke fan by the way.
One of the most helpful things I've ever seen on RUclips. Thank you. I often think Duke gets unfair advantages (they do). Helped to get this helpful information and insight.
i referee for intramurals in my college, and while these guys are professionals and i'm nowhere near their level, I understand how and why they botch calls... puts into perspective my view on refereeing... it's a difficult job.
That was a great call at 7:30, if Kaminsky doesnt stick his arms forward at Winslow he would have got that charge called, nobody can tell me differently
Dion White I didn't agree with your statement at first, but then went back and looked at it again, and you're right, Dukan is swinging his arms forward BEFORE the contact.
Wisconsin does realize Okafor and Winslow were in foul trouble the whole game and played half the minutes they normally do...and Wisconsin still didn't capitalize when they were on the bench....
I think the Badgers would have been better off with those guys in the game. Okafor couldn't stop Frank Kaminsky and Allen played his best game of the year off the bench.
we went up nine and then grayson allen took over and started to get bs calls, winslow touched and stepped out of bound, tyus jones got a fouled called on a 3 with no cntact and grayson allen was fouling offensively every time with no calls
That Out of Bound Play at the end, Me being a Duke Fan, I thought that should have been winsconsin ball, WINSLOW CLEARLY changes the rotation of the ball !
Nilson perez Ball rotation never changed. I agree though that he did touch it for sure. But only that one angle shows that, and the refs on the floor didn't have the angle we all saw. Duke fan here as well. Should've been Wisconsin's ball, but ONLY if they had that one angle, which the head of referees stated that they didn't.
Can we do a Court Call on the Kentucky Wisconsin game? Because that Wisconsin shot after the shot clock changed the entire game and how the teams played afterwards
BBALLBREAKDOWN So can you make a video showing the four calls against Wisconsin? I'm just saying if you wanna put a video on how Refs helped Duke, you should also put a video how Refs may or may not have helped Wisconsin or Kentucky. That late shot changed the whole game completely though you can't deny that so it was def an important one
It used to be that Duke players would constantly slide under players in the air and get charge calls. Now they just throw themselves into the defender and hope for a call that they usually get. But, Kaminsky was flopping against Arizona and he got calls that changed the game so Wisconsin isn't that credible either.
Raphael Celestino not only due to the stadium atmosphere, but its also raised to help with the vision for the fans in the nosebleeds. its been that way for several years now in the stadiums that host the games in the later rounds.
I'm sorry but I'm not buying Ronnie's explanation for the OB call. I'm watching it on a similar sized monitor that the officials used, and from a couple of different angles it was clear that his middle finger moved just as the ball passed. That is clear as day. That's not to say that the game was rigged, but it's pretty close to inexcusable to miss on replay.
How about Kaminsky's travel on his spin move that drew Okafor's 4th foul? Kaminsky hops as he is spinning and then takes 2 more steps. Ref's didn't cost Wisconsin the game. Duke making plays won the game.
At about the 5:30 mark, we see one of my pet peeves about today's NCAA and NBA game: a guy draws contact, and we see the head snap. Granted, he made the shot, but this is kind of grating to watch. Everyone's priority is to sell the call instead of putting himself at best position to make the play. Even though he made it, he made the shot tougher for himself by snapping his head instead of maintaining vision of the hoop.
They should add another ref to look for out of bounds. They should divide the responsibilities rather than areas of the court. So some ref focuses on body contact, some of our of bounds, some fore the rest etc..
Well then it's easier to look at a few people in one spot and look for everything rather than look at everyone and focusing on one thing while moving your head all across the court constantly
Now that you've dealt with the questionable calls (excellent, BTW), you need to do a breakdown on how Wisconsin's offense what AWOL down the stretch. Movement was terrible. I'm a coach that uses the swing offense and I think my JV boys ran it better than Wisconsin did at the end of the game.
Now everybody is saying they don't really run the pure swing... Ugh. They are so timid on the catch it was frustrating to watch. I believe you need to attack on every catch, be a threat, put pressure on the defense to force a close out...
I think they were running swing mostly - except toward the end of the game. Not running much of anything then. Swing is like most good offenses (incl. the triangle): you have to read and respond to what the defense is doing. This can make it look like they aren't running "pure swing". I like your using the word "timid" - accurately describes their offensive execution in the end game.
You are correct. UW were like the walking dead down the stretch. I think UW players got caught up in the "We're getting screwed by the refs" mentality and they were not dealing with the momentum shift well. A championship team must be mentally tough above all else. A coach has to tell his players to "fight through" the bad calls, not shut down because of them. I think Bo is a great coach but he is prone to the "refs are screwing us" mentality and that trickled down to his players at the worst possible time.
BBALLBREAKDOWN Great video! Keep up the great work!! Wish you would've(could've) included all of the "controversial" calls from both halfs of the game. Okafor's 2nd foul; Winslow's 1st and 2nd foul; The other time Winslow barreled into the lane in the 2nd half and there was contact and the arena and Wisconsin were yelling for a charge, but no call was made(charge or block); The "charge" Tyus Jones drew on Dukan in the 2nd half; The supposed traveling violation on Kaminsky leading to Okafor's 4th foul(the foul was very clear, haven't been able to see a replay though to see if Frank the Tank walked or not). Can't remember if there were any others I heard about through the grapevine from both sides, but it would've been neat had you been able to have the time to break down all of them with Nunn. Again, great job!! And I definitely walked away confident, knowing my boys weren't aided by the refs which changed the outcome of the game.
Reading the comments on this video and reading how caoch responses to them, whether it be in the Duke game or not, feels like there is a definitive sense of favoritism from coach on Wisconsin which may have blurred his sense of equal judgement in this video. Just my opinion though.
Mark Andersson No you're right, he shouldn't be, and it was pretty clear that he was being biased considering the final tally of "advantageous" calls, especially considering all that Ronnie Nunn said. All in all though, I gotta commend him because I feel like he did an admirable job despite his clear bias, and I don't think anyone walks away from this video thinking the refs had a hand in Duke winning the game.
I understand why the floor officials missed the out-of-bounds play after reviewing it. If you don't have the definitive angle, there's no way you would see it was off Duke. On the other hand, the NCAA's response was hilarious. First, NCAA head of officiating John Adams said he saw it late but the floor officials didn't see it at all, and that he decided not to inform the floor officials. Then NCAA's vice president of men's basketball says Adams "misspoke" and that the floor officials did have the angle they needed, but made a hasty judgment before making sure they could get the call right.
mrmacross My guess is NCAA is lying rather than Adams. I don't have a track record of historically lying to people from Adams, but I do from the NCAA, especially when they are trying to save face.
I agree with the missed free throws and layups. The badgers had a serious letdown in this game after channeling their skill over Kentucky. Even with this, they still should have beaten Duke if not for these calls.
On that OB call Duke deserved the ball because Koenig (24) airballed a layup. Or maybe it was just one of numerous bad calls in a horribly officiated (but VERY EXCITING) Final Four.
There are missed calls by officials in just about every major sporting event. The outcome of every game is always going to be questionable. Especially close games. In the end, you just have to appreciate the entertainment value and not so much the outcome. It took me years to realize that but let's face it, sports is just a soap opera mixed with athletes and coaches.
Thats not basketball; you are supposed to avoid the defender by dribbling around them or shooting over them. Not jump into their face and get an and one. Several offensive fouls. I stopped watching this game half way through the second half because I knew the fix was in. I thought Wisconsin should have brought another player to help bring the ball up the court.
Great video, thank you for posting this. The only quibble I have is the final "score" of WI +1 and Duke +3. The WI +1 was the only questionable call against Duke that was reviewed and Ronnie would have reversed it - so that was legit missed call. Ronnie would not have reversed the Winslow foot out of bounds, nor would not have reversed the finger touch, but you unfairly gave WI +1 for each. The only advantage for Duke that Ronnie found was the Winslow block/charge - so really the "score" should have been WI +1, Duke +1.
I think u misunderstood the scoring. Without question, out of bounds was a missed call. Ronnie did say that, even though he was being sympathetic. Same with the review...
BBALLBREAKDOWN While both out of bounds were technically missed calls, in both instances Ronnie agreed with the officials. On the first OOB, Ronnie said it was a "good no call" due to all the other things going on, ie potential foul on WI for redirecting the Duke player. As a good no call, that would indicate to me that Duke did not get an advantage on that play (could have been a foul on WI). On the second out of bounds, Ronnie said that it was "basically impossible" to see Winslow's touch in real time and that he was "kind of happy" with the call. All in all, a hard fought and exciting championship game. I think the real difference was Wisconsin's willingness to settle for jump shots late in the second half, Duke's willingness to drive hard again and again, and Wisconsin's dreadful clock management in crunch time. Thanks again for posting this video and thanks to Ronnie for letting us all see through his eyes.
BBALLBREAKDOWN, Coach Nick! The NBA season is ending and after checking the standings from both Conferences, there are serious injustices regarding the qualifying teams and matchups. I feel like the Western teams who just missed making the cut deserve those playoff spots more than the lower bracket of the Eastern teams. Shouldn't this also explain why LeBron's team had so much success in the East since he's almost guaranteed to face weaker teams in the first rounds of the playoffs?
***** So even if they won their shitty division and had a let's say, 45- something record, they'd still be ahead of teams who have 55+ wins? That's retarded as fuck.
Techniec not true division leading teams for example here portland would be in . front of Spurs if they have the same record. If spurs have better record they are in front, same goes for blazers
GoneTooFar check the standing bro. Clips and Spurs have better record than Portland but since Portland are leading their division they are 4th in the West.
It's a difference of only 2 possessions though. Wisconson was plus 1 and duke plus 3. If you ran a statistical simulation based on this game and gave duke two fewer possessions in this game it would have only made a difference of about 2-3 points (Duke averaged barely over 1 point per possession this game). Also, this is just a few of the selected plays from the game. If you went one by one and looked at every single play you would find so many more missed called. Coach Nick literally said himself he is biased and it shows in the choice of clips he decided to review.
I don't/didn't care who won this game but the "advantage meter" was a bit stupid to be honest, I mean the last 2 calls that "advantaged" duke in no way were a biased call that intentionally gave duke advantage. In many cases refs are hesitant to call out of bounds on players (be it stepping out or last touch of the ball) who have been forced into a position to do so.
But if there is a push be it small, that misplaces a player enough to step on the line but to keep the game free flowing and avoid a soft foul, a no call seems like a good solution
If the refs were focusing on looking at ball rotation or inertia they wouldn't have seen anything to over ride the original call. They had to review several different angles very quickly and only one showed contact. It was an easy miss.
jeppep95 NCAA rules does not state that the defender can't move his feet. They just have to have position before the offensive player goes up for a shot. Kaminsky was moving backwards from the direction the ball was going, so he had already established his position on the floor before the offensive player made his move. That's a charge.
jeppep95 A defender has rights to his own space, otherwise people could just recklessly go in and throw the ball up after a defender makes contact and then get the foul call. Contrary to popular belief, just because a defender's feet aren't set, it doesn't mean they're not able to get a charge call.
Allen was a surprise buy he didn't "destroy" anyone. The best plays were by that kid from Minnesota who probably dreamed of being able to beat the Badgers because of the state rivalry. He made the "nail in the coffin" 3 pointer near the end of the game.
Yea they didn't get the call on Lyles, even if it was incidental. But there were plenty of ghost fouls in the 1st half. Nigel Hayes uncalled shot clock violation, the ghost foul they called on Aaron against Frank the Fank. Not to mention Andrew getting fouled on 3 straight possessions that resulted in shot clock violations while UK was up late in the game
if you can't see that Koenig obviously fouled Winslow two times with his left arm on the finger tip play at 12:12, you are blind. He smacked him in the head twice. It should have been a foul maybe even a flagrant foul.
It doesn't take a ton of obvious calls by crooked Vegas refs to throw a game. Just a few at critical moments to stop momentum or put in foul trouble a critical player in that game.
I like how the whole video skips over the first half when Wisconsin only had 2 fouls against them and every time a Duke player looked at them they got called for a foul
BBALLBREAKDOWN I disagree. Both Okafor and Winslow had a bad foul called on them each (the clean block by okafor was the most egregious one) that got them both in foul trouble and forced duke to switch to a zone for a large portion of the 1st half to protect Winslow whilst Okafor had to go to the bench.
No way. The badger defense was well executed and clean. Duke fouled and pouted ALOT in the 1st half. You can clearly see that Okafor leaned in with the body on his foul and Winslow is a bull in a china shop on every play. He got away with bulldozing the lane several times away from the ball.
bad calls all throughout that game. calls against duke shut down any good run we could have sparked in the first half. fact is, dekker was shut down. and so was gasser. dukan couldnt hit no bail out treys and that was the end of that. 2 bad calls at the end of the game wasnt going to change the outcome. wisconsin SHOULD be upset that lil grayson allen came off the bench and had them SHOOK, not even wanting to guard him. veteran squad getting worked by grayson.
Man I just didn't like how physical Duke was to have WI only have 2 fouls called in the first half and then have 13! in the 2nd half.. that doesn't seem right. WI doesn't foul and I remember college has these new rules stating no hands can be in contact with a drive and I felt like Duke was throwing themselves all over the place and the officials were biting on it. Also this Nunn dude is an idiot I'm sorry if a player steps out of bounce 2 feet from an official and you miss it it's a bad call
You mean as he hops and gathers the ball? Or while he's pivoting? Once he shoots it he comes off the floor with both feet, and you're allowed to do that as long as you come off the floor with both feet. Just wondering, because it's hard for me to see a travel on that play.
I think he traveled right before he started the shooting motion, when he bumped his shoulder into the defensive player. But if I were to call it in real time I would also have called a defensive fault.
Wisconsin made shots to beat Kentucky just like Kentucky made shots to win the year before. These were two very evenly matched teams But the Badgers were a MUCH better team than Duke and were totally jobbed in the final. The refs just kept punching the air out of them with these ridiculous calls one after the other. It took its toll and by the end of the game, Wisconsin didn't have the energy to overcome both the refs and the arrogant ones in blue. So sad. What should have been a monumental year for Wisconsin ended up being just another banner at Cameron indoor stadium.
Holy crap...Ronnie Nunn...his generation of officials was horrible...nothing personal...his take was so wrong on many levels...kind of sad how biased he was
If you can't see his finger go down while touching that ball you should not be reffing. Plain as the nose on my face...which you probably couldn't see either.
Aguadepanela con limon I'll think of all the bricks wisky kept laying while grayson and tyus were scorching koenig and dekker off the dribble on every possession the last 12 mins of the game
On the out-of-bounds call, Nigel Hayes had an armbar on Justice Winslow. Winslow clearly stepped out, but I think it was because Hayes was pushing him out. Winslow also had an arm on Hayes, but it didn't seem like he hooked him or was pushing on him at all because he already had beat him. Overall, I think Duke got more calls in the second half, but I don't think the refs influenced the outcome of the game.
at the end of the day, the Blue Devils went to Big 10 country and beat the Big 10 champions.....AND the runners up......twice a piece. So along with being National Champions, im staking claim to the Big 10 title too. Duke was just the better team. Just accept it. If you want something to talk about, speak on how Bo Ryan is a poor sport. And guess what......Duke is going to wax Wisconsin again next season in NYC. Wont be an issue to draw them again in the ACC/Big 10 challenge either. This time, send them down to Cameron.
Lol NCAA must payed these guys lol yeah good basketball player yeah right ok let's not defend no more jump back m let everyone get non contested shots smh this dude is funny.
Refs of all sports especially basketball college, then pro = Owned by Vegas. Just watch the line for every game. They are not that good. Refs follow their vegas/mob lead and also put $$ on the games themselves and sometimes just put their ego and bias out there because they can. Easy to justify with no replays. Confessions are in books and internet. Barely scratches the surface surely. No reviews (hardly) advantage always to duke and their favorite other schools like ESPN favs - uconvict, then uncheat, and puke a few others to mix it up for the sheep. Never teams like wi. Get used to it. Its for entertainment purposes only and they justify it that way. Just enjoy for entertainment as on!y an appearance of fairness at best is fostered.
MrYoumitube says, "When will Team USA be coached by a NBA coach ex: Popovich, I'm getting tired of coach K." So, you got tired of them winning gold medals? Popovich is taking over now, but Coach K took over because Larry Brown came out of coaching Team USA with a bronze medal. K was brought in to build the system, because before they would just trot in elite talent and win. The rest of the world got good enough to make that not good enough. Coach K was brought in to start implementing a system to make sure our best players were playing and that they were suitably ready for competition from Euro-ball.
Craig Resnianky you looked way too deep into it. Coach K was brought into maybe make a little bit of a difference but you are clueless if you think he is the mastermind that helped us win any of the past three gold medals that we have won. With The amount of isolation plays that Team USA runs, you can't call it actually implementing a system. We might run some set plays every now and then but there is no real system if you actually pay attention to how Team USA plays.
This is so dumb. You're going to put one Wisconsin play in and the rest Duke and say Duke had the advantage? I can put a video together showing all Wisconsin and say they got the advantage.
The plays they showed directly resulted in a 5 point swing for Duke. Wisconsin lost by 5 🤔
On the first call: "Nothing purposeful"? Jesus, he looked like a full back trying to run over a line backer
YES! It's my favourite series on the channel.
***** Same. Glad to see it's back!
Extremely glad court call is back. Hope you can get Ronnie Nunn back more often, love this series.
Coach, love the channel and the hard work you guys put in each episode. Now, this is one of the great ones. Thanks! You should check out our earlier Court Calls.. I'll put up an annotation with link this AM
Nice to see this series making a return!
So glad this series is back. I always find this stuff really interesting.

I was going to say the same. Great game either way
Why not go over the terrible first half calls as well?
i would really like to have that series back for the playoffs. Keep up the good work!
Nice to see Ronnie back with court call, hope to see it a bit more regularly again
One of the most helpful things I've ever seen on RUclips. Thank you. I often think Duke gets unfair advantages (they do). Helped to get this helpful information and insight.
I love Ronnie. He demonstrates the correct attitude of not just a professional ref, but professional in any career.
WELCOME BACK RONNIE!!!!!!!
we missed ya!
Coach I absolutely love when you have a breakdown with Ronnie. You guys make a great dual like Malone and Stockton lol
i referee for intramurals in my college, and while these guys are professionals and i'm nowhere near their level, I understand how and why they botch calls... puts into perspective my view on refereeing... it's a difficult job.
You can say that again!
11:40 - 11:47 no audio? Unfortunately what?!
TheNumberScott I can read lips very well and he said " ...unfortunately there is no audio for the next 7 seconds"
Thank you coach and Mr. Ronie, I'm a referee myself and I learn a lot from your video,
Finally, Court Call is back. We can learn so much from Ronnie.
That was a great call at 7:30, if Kaminsky doesnt stick his arms forward at Winslow he would have got that charge called, nobody can tell me differently
It could even be a no call. Offensive player charged in wildly, defender had position but didn't have the discipline to keep his arms up. =D
Dion White I didn't agree with your statement at first, but then went back and looked at it again, and you're right, Dukan is swinging his arms forward BEFORE the contact.
That's not Kaminsky that's Duje Dukan
Should have been a travel at the least.
i my opinion you cant credit any loss to bad calls no matter how crucial, there always will be human errors in officiating.
I agree
I agree too
Wilkie Baggins the 2002 sacremento kings beg to differ.
Thank you only the hardest workers win
Nyls Storlund i agree with you on that one, but it was blatant
Excellent! Those who seek to judge, are not excused by human error.
Wisconsin does realize Okafor and Winslow were in foul trouble the whole game and played half the minutes they normally do...and Wisconsin still didn't capitalize when they were on the bench....

Yes I love court call
Not definitive? You just got done saying it bent his finger back. -_-
Can we do a Court Call on the Kentucky Wisconsin game? Because that Wisconsin shot after the shot clock changed the entire game and how the teams played afterwards
Give me a break. Sure, that shot was late, but there were 4 egregious calls that went against Wisconsin

Well, that was certainly not a flop
come on guys, coach nick is a fan like us, let's thank him for the work.
Thx!
This is why you don't trust referees. They always find excuses on plain bad calls.
i can definitely say that coach nick is a fan of wisconsin.......
considering how he felt abt the wisconsin-kentucky game this year and last year
Well, it IS where I went to school...
This may be a bit off topic but why is the bench much lower than the court? Is the court like elevated or are my eyes playing with me?
The stadium doesn't normally have basketball played there, I believe. So they built the court up off the ground. Still doesn't make that much sense...
Raphael Celestino not only due to the stadium atmosphere, but its also raised to help with the vision for the fans in the nosebleeds. its been that way for several years now in the stadiums that host the games in the later rounds.
Oh ok thanks guys :)

Eurostep.
coach, u were a manager at Wisconsin? that's awesome! im a manager at ipfw! its soooooo much fun!
I live really close to IPFW that's pretty cool
Make sure to take full advantage of all knowledge you can soak up!!
for sure! always picking up knowledge every day!

Should've done this with Pacers-Heat in the last ECF!
Mark Andersson He did give a disclaimer at the beginning admitting that he was the team manager for Wisconsin basketball at one time.
yeah, but still, being a channel that points out things during a basketball game he cannot be biased on his videos.
Mark Andersson Everyone has some bias in everything they do. It shapes how you see every play on the court.
These refs were biased for Duke. It was plain to see.
Bring Ronnie in more! great series
Yikes!
mrmacross My guess is NCAA is lying rather than Adams. I don't have a track record of historically lying to people from Adams, but I do from the NCAA, especially when they are trying to save face.
Badgers lost because of a guy named Grayson Allen, missed free throws & layups.
I agree with the missed free throws and layups. The badgers had a serious letdown in this game after channeling their skill over Kentucky. Even with this, they still should have beaten Duke if not for these calls.
Why do they just show the clips he think is favoring Duke?
Gary Xu because that was the controversy. Everyone thought Wisconsin got the disadvantage, including me.
On that OB call Duke deserved the ball because Koenig (24) airballed a layup. Or maybe it was just one of numerous bad calls in a horribly officiated (but VERY EXCITING) Final Four.
#BasketballGods
There are missed calls by officials in just about every major sporting event. The outcome of every game is always going to be questionable. Especially close games. In the end, you just have to appreciate the entertainment value and not so much the outcome. It took me years to realize that but let's face it, sports is just a soap opera mixed with athletes and coaches.
Yes they did
Thats not basketball; you are supposed to avoid the defender by dribbling around them or shooting over them. Not jump into their face and get an and one.
Several offensive fouls. I stopped watching this game half way through the second half because I knew the fix was in.
I thought Wisconsin should have brought another player to help bring the ball up the court.
This is the problem with officiating we don't call each other out for screw ups. I disagree with most of his assertions.
didnt show the turrible charge call against KOENING
Yes. East is weaker, and it's a problem...
Man.. i missed Ronnie Nunn
Coach how come Spurs have a better record yet Portland is ahead in the standings?
Techniec because Portland are leading in their division and that clinches a 4 seed.
*****
So even if they won their shitty division and had a let's say, 45- something record, they'd still be ahead of teams who have 55+ wins? That's retarded as fuck.
Techniec
I know it's ridiculous.
Techniec not true division leading teams for example here portland would be in .
front of Spurs if they have the same record. If spurs have better record they are in front, same goes for blazers
GoneTooFar
check the standing bro. Clips and Spurs have better record than Portland but since Portland are leading their division they are 4th in the West.
Hmm, Duke ended up +3, yet somehow the conclusion is that Duke still deserved to win? How does that work? Does the data serve any purpose at all here?
It's a difference of only 2 possessions though. Wisconson was plus 1 and duke plus 3. If you ran a statistical simulation based on this game and gave duke two fewer possessions in this game it would have only made a difference of about 2-3 points (Duke averaged barely over 1 point per possession this game). Also, this is just a few of the selected plays from the game. If you went one by one and looked at every single play you would find so many more missed called. Coach Nick literally said himself he is biased and it shows in the choice of clips he decided to review.
This video is the definition of damage control
there are plays here where there was no way you can't give the advantage to duke.
13 was not set on the blocking call
As a UK fan, I call this... Karma.
It looked like Coach was nodding off a bit
Haha, I was staring at the replay!
Lmfao what was up with everyone saying he died a while ago ...
Interesting take from Ronnie re: the big review call, but cmon...that fucking ball was off Winslow
Can't really do that. If the guy is out of bounds, and you're not calling a force out, then you must call out of bounds. No brainer...
But if there is a push be it small, that misplaces a player enough to step on the line but to keep the game free flowing and avoid a soft foul, a no call seems like a good solution
socccerPlayerz And that was Nunn's response.
You were Wisconsin's team manager at one time of course you think they did.
If the refs were focusing on looking at ball rotation or inertia they wouldn't have seen anything to over ride the original call. They had to review several different angles very quickly and only one showed contact. It was an easy miss.
Love your vids but sometimes I just ............
You just...?
BBALLBREAKDOWN "I just....." *I can't even*
would be my guess.
8:00 should not have been an offensive foul the defender was moving his feet!
True. The defender was never set at all. Either set up or get out of the way
jeppep95 NCAA rules does not state that the defender can't move his feet. They just have to have position before the offensive player goes up for a shot. Kaminsky was moving backwards from the direction the ball was going, so he had already established his position on the floor before the offensive player made his move. That's a charge.
BYSMA4th How can his position be established if he is still moving?
jeppep95
A defender has rights to his own space, otherwise people could just recklessly go in and throw the ball up after a defender makes contact and then get the foul call. Contrary to popular belief, just because a defender's feet aren't set, it doesn't mean they're not able to get a charge call.
jeppep95 Simply put, if the defender can say "I was here before you got here and ran into me," it's a charge.
Regardless of the refs, wisconsin was up 9 and allen destroyed them. The loss is on them
Allen was a surprise buy he didn't "destroy" anyone. The best plays were by that kid from Minnesota who probably dreamed of being able to beat the Badgers because of the state rivalry. He made the "nail in the coffin" 3 pointer near the end of the game.
So Wisconsin has the nerve to call out the officials favoring Duke when the refs gave them the game against Kentucky? Are you kidding me?
Exactly
Considering plenty of calls went Kentucky's way aswell, for example that Trey Lyles slap
Austyn Scruggs 1 Call is not plenty. You are wrong if you think they even remotely called that unbiasedly.
Thank you
Yea they didn't get the call on Lyles, even if it was incidental.
Did the refs help Wisconsin beat Kentucky?
THANK YOU!!!
What does that have to do with anything?
Alex Bove lol
there were bad calls both ways that call, like the no called flagrant on kentucky, in this game, all calls went in favor of Duke
tysongizmo ur wrong. the calls were fair.
5:30 was a travel...
if you can't see that Koenig obviously fouled Winslow two times with his left arm on the finger tip play at 12:12, you are blind. He smacked him in the head twice. It should have been a foul maybe even a flagrant foul.
That's incidental contact as 2 players are going for loose ball...
BBALLBREAKDOWN
He may have been going for the ball but his arm did not come close to the ball. That not incidental when you slap someone in the face.
Ehhh. None of those fouls in 1st half seemed to be controversial. Wisconsin defense fouls very infrequently
If I recall there were a few that they called on Duke that weren't fouls, just saying.
Da Bro Exactly
Only one of Frank's feet was set tho
on the first play they reviwed didn't the duke player travel before he shot the ball?
ya thats what I thought
You mean as he hops and gathers the ball? Or while he's pivoting? Once he shoots it he comes off the floor with both feet, and you're allowed to do that as long as you come off the floor with both feet. Just wondering, because it's hard for me to see a travel on that play.
I think he traveled right before he started the shooting motion, when he bumped his shoulder into the defensive player. But if I were to call it in real time I would also have called a defensive fault.
What about the BS fouls against Okafor and Winslow? Not gonna talk about those are you?
Wisconsin made shots to beat Kentucky just like Kentucky made shots to win the year before. These were two very evenly matched teams
But the Badgers were a MUCH better team than Duke and were totally jobbed in the final.
Hi wonnie
Holy crap...Ronnie Nunn...his generation of officials was horrible...nothing personal...his take was so wrong on many levels...kind of sad how biased he was
If you can't see his finger go down while touching that ball you should not be reffing. Plain as the nose on my face...which you probably couldn't see either.
Such a tough one.
yep. Every time I think of this game I'll think of the charges, and the two possessions that should have gone Wisconsin's way.
Aguadepanela con limon I'll think of all the bricks wisky kept laying while grayson and tyus were scorching koenig and dekker off the dribble on every possession the last 12 mins of the game
Ky is still way more talented than both these teams. Smh wisconsin is not good. refs love em.
Stop using excuses.
Whats up with your hair nick
Talk about how Kobe Bryant is better than Lebron James
How's he going to talk about something that's not true?
shutup
On the out-of-bounds call, Nigel Hayes had an armbar on Justice Winslow. Winslow clearly stepped out, but I think it was because Hayes was pushing him out. Winslow also had an arm on Hayes, but it didn't seem like he hooked him or was pushing on him at all because he already had beat him. Overall, I think Duke got more calls in the second half, but I don't think the refs influenced the outcome of the game.
Just showed certain plays lmao nice like those weren't the only bad calls smh cover up
at the end of the day, the Blue Devils went to Big 10 country and beat the Big 10 champions.....AND the runners up......twice a piece.
We shall see...
refs terrible calls that were clear. refs handed win toDuke
When will Team USA be coached by a NBA coach ex: Popovich, I'm getting tired of coach K.
MrYoumitube Then stop watching!
