    Brilliant...wish I had known it during my college hostel days many years back...used to use the matkas for improving the bass effect of car speakers in the room. 👌👍

    i was thinking for a long time to replace the grass of my cooler by crushed pot pieces ....it will create less humidity as compared to the grass ...finally someone made something similar and more innovative ....i would try making it in the next summer season

    Hey, this is perfect when we want to run a laptop or a desktop in a hot environment. Since the humidity level won't be as high as compared to a water cooler with grass, I think this is the best option for someone living in a relatively small room, like a hostel. Great idea man! will definitely try it!!

    that's great that you use the evaporation of water to cool the air, but at the same time that cool air flows out of the fan, would there also also be warm water vapor coming out from the top? if so then only the space right next to the fan will be cool while the space above the pot will be warm and humid. a solution is to place the pot opening outside the house and the fan blows into the house that way you don't get much warm humid air inside

    Another solution:BIG fans.I have s BIg fan ( it's two feet wide) and I keep the oscillating feature off by pushing down the plastic "stick" at the top of the fan.Then I sleep on just a mattress on the floor with a sheet on it ( sleeping this way brings one to lower ground where it's cooler).I also open all the windows and sleep on the main floor with the BIG two foot wide fan blowing on me as I sleep,read and use my mobile device .The BIG fan works like a portable air conditioner .It's great.However this system only works on the main floor of buildings.Once you get to the second floor or higher you need airconditioning.This is why I never rent a place higher than the first floor.If you have a nice clean basement you can go there and you won't need airconditioning or even a small fan.This system only works if you live in a safe area where there is gun control (not downtown in big U.S. cities) because you. Have to keep the windows open. About the above air cooler in the video: You might want to try putting that into a large clean plastic soda bottle. The plastic soda bottle would be much easier to cut.

    it's a humidifier. If you live in the desert where the temperature is high and the humidity is near zero, it'll make things cooler and more comfortable. If you live in a rainforest area (such as the Appalachians), all it'll do is make the uncomfortably-humid air even more humid.

      It is realistic, but what he is really mesuring so closed to the fan, is mainly windchill. The overall cooling effect of this pot is probably neglectable. Primo: You might feel it in your face, when you are sitting not farher than 2 feet away from it, but it is sure not strong enough, to cool down an entire room. Secundo: It will only work well in a desert like heat with a low moisture rate below 30%. In a tropical climate where the relative moisture rate is mostl likely around 70 to 80% or higher, it might not work at all..

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 6 лет назад +12

      Oldinea Miller windchill is a phenomenon of water evaporating off your skin further reducing the temperature that you feel.
      It has ZERO effect on a dry sensor that is not evaporating, therefore it cannot create the same cooling effect.
      Windchill is really just an approximation of how a human would feel. Not a temperature sensor, which correctly gives you the temperature before they apply the windchill factor.

    • @rick9021090210
      @rick9021090210 6 лет назад +1

      yes, there is a trick... measuring the temperature on the output side of the contraption and NOT the input side (where it draws air)... AC units have the temp sensor in the input side for a reason... AC units blow really really cold air... but try to cool a room with a tiny ac unit in summer... you still get very low temperature if you read it close to the outlet... but the rest of the room will feel hot and humid... not a nice environment... xD
      cheers!

    • @bluetubearodany
      @bluetubearodany 6 лет назад +3

      Hi there, please check how cooling towers work, it's exactly the same principle, the only downside is that you increase humidity on the air ;), to check how temperature may drop depends on the conditions from the air (relative humidity and starting temperature), in México we use similar pots to keep the water cool on sumer, we leave them near to the door as somebody who cames in could kick them and increase the area where the pot is humid, thus increasing heat transfer from evaporating water.

    Great attempt! But measuring mechanism is wrong.
    1. You can not measure temperature in direct sun light, likewise you cannot measure in the gust from the fan. Obviously more air molecules hit the probe taking away more temperature resulting in lower temperature. You will get the same effect by just running the fan without the pot.
    2. The lower temperature in pot works only only for water or any liquids that can evaporate at room temperature.

    Why not design a pot with a good fan in the bottom to force air up through a clay flute that allows water to be absorbed through it passing through the center of the pot with the inside of the pot filled with sand to absorb water? If you designed a tall pot like this would not the flute contract the air and with moisture from the clay flute being wicked away cool the air down?

    A large pot with a Stirling cryogenic piston to super cool multitherm fluid in a heat exchange radiator with a recycled fan from a portable air conditioning unit to force air through pot to cool a room. A way to reuse old used portable air conditioning units folks throw away when they break down because no one wants to fix them.

    This product is good to make for a room which is very small where only a person can sit. Because this small cooler can cover only a few square feet's according to room condition. If this device is bigger then it will cover a bigger room. I don't feel making this will give a huge effect to normal rooms.
    Anyways I liked this video concept from any other air cooler videos, the earthen pot is the best part which avoids to keep the dry grass and a water motor away to circulate water. Earthen pot cools the water automatically and thus spreads the cool air.

    Thinking further and checking Internet sources , this product needs to be promoted far and wide. The hotter the summer the cooler the output air. This device leaves the cooling part to natural forces. The fan just distributes the chillness. Saving on cooling energy alone will run into trillion dollars in summer. Small inexpensive additions like a ball float to allow water to make up for depletion , A drain port for periodic cleaning, a removable gasket fitted lid to enable hand reach to scrub fungus, and better electricals like keeping wires outside the pot can be done to give it a big commercial boost.

      JAY DEV , you have eliminated the gas compressor from your design . That compressor is the monster that is gulping electricity and depleting our forests and polluting cities. Bravo, your invention ranks with many great ones. I am an engineer myself and how I wish to do something like this. Give us more. We are all proud of you.

    Couldn't the air inlet be higher up for more cooling due to capillary action.

    Hello ! Why when you do the temperature tests there are no traces of water capillarity on the jar? So there is no water in it, how do you explain it?
