Lovely dancing and music, and wow - those costumes! I only wish more men would be confident enough in their masculinity these days to wear velvet capes and dance elegantly like these gorgeous blokes. :-)
Maurice Ravel - Pavane pour une infante défunte finding a hip hop sample lead me down through learning European history, into finding the types of dances that were done in the 1800s. What a small, beautiful word. RIP Nujabes.
Great video! I was raised in the USA and have been in France a long time. Social dancing of many types was always included in my public school and extra was never costly to find. People like to have dance. It's fun!
J'ai téléchargé cette pavane, et ne me lasse pas de l'écouter, admirer les beaux costumes, sans doute concert en privé comme dans l'ancien temps, dans un salon de château. Félicitations, continuez comme ça...
The dulcian player is either Jean-Noel Catrice or Beatrice Delpierre, playing an instrument made by Eric Moulder. This recording is from "Si pour t'aymer" by the Compagnie Maitre Guillaume, a collection of danseries printed by Pierre Phalese in the 16th century... a CD well worth tracking down and purchasing.
Splendid! However, I do hope kind Sir that you and your dear lady are as handsome and impeccably dressed when performing this said dance as the very dashing gentleman in the red cape? ;)
Painfully simple...I'd never seen the pavane as a dance -- only heard the music. Despite the simplicity it is rather elegant and you don't get sweaty! :O) I love anything Renaissance anyway...
Actually, if, during the dance, the other person did not smell "like rotting meat," then they might have been considered. See Baldassare Castiglione's _The Book of the Courtier_.
Je vous l'ai déjà dit: ici on est à l'extrême de la beauté, costumes masculin et féminin magnifiques, et une musique dont je ne me lasse pas. Renaissance quelle belle époque...
Thanks this is for the dance floor but for processions like the one mentioned in ''The [Marlows]Tragedy Of Dr, Faustus ''at Rome it would be more simple,.
Well shocker, that's what a pavan is supposed to be. The first dance where people walk into the room. Not everything needs to have complicated footwork and athletic dance figures.
Lovely... The period dress is absolutely enchanting!

You are so right! Glorious costumes!

This dance will certainly become popular throughout the realm!
+John Leslie Amos You've spoken well.
@John Leslie Amos - You dear sir have spoken wisely. ;)
I practize the said dance with my good lady to maintain good health and refreshment of the minde.
Splendid! However, I do hope kind Sir that you and your dear lady are as handsome and impeccably dressed when performing this said dance as the very dashing gentleman in the red cape? ;)
It was already popular in its time. It will never be popular again. We must give away the old to allow the new to thrive.
This is most perfect dance for metal :D

Que belle cette danse et la musique pleine de joie
Bellissimo il Medievo Rinascimentale il tempo della cultura, dell'architettura e della buona e sana musica!! :)
To think that at this period in history: if two people dancing were in good sync, then they were most likely considered for marriage
Actually, if, during the dance, the other person did not smell "like rotting meat," then they might have been considered. See Baldassare Castiglione's _The Book of the Courtier_.

I want to know who is playing bass dulcian. He (or She ) is one of the best players I have ever heard.
i like how she is on parenthese
My god, listen to that violin! He/she's on fire! And here I am struggling with basic melodies... What is this Pavane called and who wrote it?
"Une jeune Pucelle" or "Une jeune Fillette" - an ancient tune whose source is debated.
Magnificnet, juicy and I would definetley eat those walls.

Pretty dancing, but I wish the people looked more pleasant.
