I was a film and photography major in college and was exposed to Kenneth Anger's films in those years. The gentleman standing on the other side of the bush was very embarrassed and flustered at having been caught in the act and stumbled into introducing himself as a neighbor who lived a couple of blocks up the street. "Hi", he said, "I'm Ken. Ken Anger." I told him I knew who he was and that it was no problem and that if he ever needed more plants to just knock on the door. He went on to tell me he was having trouble with his landlord raising the rent and trying to force him to move out. We chatted for another couple of minutes and then said goodbye. I never saw him after that. I suppose he had to move. But I loved meeting him in that way and was certain that the life he lived was not an easy one. But he was kind and brilliant and I was sad to learn that he passed away in 2023.
