When he repeatedly ragdolled Pronger in the 2010 Cup finals. Pronger had been bullying all previous opponents until he ran into Big Buff. This physical duel between those two giants pretty much set the tone for the finals, no more bullying by Prongs.
I thought my fav. Big Buff moment(s) were when he just grabbed a couple of players by the scruff and spun them around. Then, I openly started laughing at the 3:17 of this video, where he just demolished a couple of guys. So, thanks for the video!
Excellent video! #33 will hang from our rafters someday for sure! Buff was a man among boys on the ice. Have fun fishing buddy, you earned it. Manitoba loves you so don’t be a stranger 👊
My brother skates with Buff every week. He weighs well over 325 pounds. He lives in Minnesota. He fishes and hunts all of the time. Loves his beer. Smells like it on the ice as well. Hopefully he starts taking care of himself.
I saw Buff play a number of times in Winnipeg. What struck me was when he was on the ice the opposing team were very careful about not taking cheap shots on the Winnipeg elite players. They knew there would be a hefty price paid if Buff was pissed off. He was a force on the ice and much loved in Winnipeg. His Jersey still sells well in Winnipeg. Much loved and respected to this day. He’s on my Allstar Team of the great ones. Cheers Buff, happy fishing.
Bro that's a serious understatement..its a scary thought to imagine what he would have been like had he dedicated himself to hockey year round year after year..those games of him manhandling 2 guys at the same time at the nhl level is something we'll never see again. 265 pound monster who could literally do it all..when his motor was running he was unstoppable, only problem is that it was only here and there..
He was already a menace, a wrecking ball, pretty good skater, physical and had a nose for big plays. If he dedicated himself similar to how we see Bedard do it or even half of that? He would have had the possibility of being an all timer
@anthonydangelo3980 Actually Zadorov will still man handle two men at once so its not completely gone thankfully. Gotta say hes been so damn fun to watch especially in the playoffs. So damn happy the Canuckd picked him up hes worth every penny
This was an awesome mini documentary man. Youre content continues to be great, I cant understand how you dont have more subs yet but im sure itll happen eventually
As a Jets fan, I think there could still come a time when the Jets miss him, such as if they were to meet the Rangers in the final and need someone to knock Rempe down a notch. Can you say ... no contest?
As a Flyers fan I've nothing but respect for Byfuglien's game. He was as much a menace as anyone in that cup final. He isn't a regular d-man playing forward either. He was as good or better than a lot of guys that claim to be power forwards. I do think Ramsey was right putting back on the back-end as well. It was fun watching him, hoping he enjoys retirement. Solid player, good team guy, pretty different guy nit the weirdest but definitely a unique guy.
Lovedwatching big buff his whole career. In video games he was always in my teams I built. My fave moments were many. Best was him fighting 2 guys at once, bc he could.. ty buff!!!!
Buff was the perfect hockey player. The size and athleticism are obvious, but the dude had a genius-level hockey IQ on both sides of the puck. I wouldn't be surprised if he was good at goalie too.
Buff & Lucic were my favorite players. Give Rempe 3-4 years to fully grow into his body, get into his prime, add another 20+ lbs and he will be the next Buff. I can't wait!! LGR!!!!!
Big Buff was the best! Had a great net front presence that annoyed goalies and it turned up a notch against Vancouver, an early playoff opponent in the Blackhawks Stanley Cup run. That was another Stan Bowman blunder. Letting go of Buff was the heart and soul of that 2010 Cup winner.
Hilarious/weird Buff story was him starting a conversation with in the pisser (of all places) during the playoffs when he was Hawk at a bar a lot of NHLers go to in Vancouver. He went off about how shitty bars are in Vancouver, and he’s probably not wrong. For some reason, I was scared. 😅 Almost forgot about that interaction until I saw the question.
That would be a dream come true. "D"man who hits and when he hits, he hits hard. Big Buff can scare a entire team to not come close to the net because of the consequences. Big Buff wasn't a goon who just throws his weight. Big buff was talented offensive and defensive. Who trades away a player like Dustin Byfuglien. Traded twice in his career.
Aye man keep making content, I clicked on this video not looking at your subscriber count and really just assumed you had at least six figures based on the quality of work
I recently saw buffy at my local rink. He came in for a men’s tournament and tried to walk through the zam room to which after telling him he had to walk around instead of walk through everyone had let me know I just told one of the coolest and hard hitting nhl players he couldn’t come through 😂
I once meet player on the jets at Toronto airport, asked him how it feels accidentally running in to buff during practice and such He rolled his eyes and shook his head, stating - we let up during practice if he’s on the other side. Couldn’t stop laughing, even teammates were terrified of him.
Evandet Kane is a tough player who is never afraid to throw hands. Pretty sure part of the reason Buff tossed the track suit is he didn't want Evander confronted by anyone he might swing at.
"Off the ice, he was known for his fun, hilarious personality-a gentle giant." Don't scare me like that with the "was" talk. You had me thinking he was dead 😧
He was the difference in Chicago and although they were still great without him they would of Dominated and possibly help win a few more cups. Loved to dislike him in Van but could never hate him. He was a terrific talent and as a power forward he was the wrecking ball. Take good care Big Buff
cups take everybody not just 1 player and the makeup wouldn't have been the exact same if they had kept him nor would his role had been the same. When a team wins a cup the roster needs to be perfect and the slightest alter to it might not have produced the same results. Plus, he got a much bigger role in Winnipeg than he ever could've with the hawks if he had stayed so it was meant to be
I know they said about Lindros that he couldn't really work out to much because he would get to big, imagine it's a similar situation with buff as he has forty pounds or so on Lindros. Those monsters are just intriguing for sure.
Ill moss his play ! Fun to watch jes just a player that could do it all and he did ! Definitely miss him ! Best of luck in your future endeavors Dustin !
As a rangers fan I really hope Matt Rempe gets more playing time. This season is an abysmal failure. Might as well give the kid some minutes and try to build his game. He’s got the size of buff
Yeah, there'll never be a big, strong defenseman with some scoring ability ever again... Thats why he went 240th overall because he's just that obviously unique and special.
That's why the draft is so special, ya dingus. Pooled, young talent, based on scout ratings at that moment in time, never knowing how a player will turn out. Are you new to sports?
Any time I see 33 in the real world, like receipts, cars, trains, stores, buildings, whatever, I think of McSorley 😄 This has been a thing for me for a long ass time. Maybe it's connected to my OCD
Other heavy hitters wearing #33 besides Byfuglien and Chara: Wade Belak, Ken Belanger, Eric Cairns, Al Iafrate, David Koci, Steve MacIntyre, Jim McKenzie, Marty McSorley, Brantt Myhres, Krzysztof Oliwa, Reid Simpson
who cares? they won 2 more cups after his departure and went to 3 straight conference finals and got a presidents trophy so they were fine if not better without him and buff himself got to play a much bigger role individually than he ever could've had he stayed with the hawks
Stan Bowman** really f___ed the Blackhawks. Tallon built the team only for Bowman to take credit through the 2010s and then execute some brutal trades to dismantle a once promising future.
well thats not to shaby, from the NCAA to Canada wow what an upgrade from the NCAA haha legendary.. Canadas Juniors league is the 2nd best hockey league in the world
@ethanparker7900 They could have had more. They possibly could have had three in a row. It was still a big loss. The only reason you debate is because you're obviously not a Chicago fan. So you can kindly keep your trap shut.
What was your favourite Big Buff moment?👀
the amount of times he was able to take on two guys at once is crazy
When he repeatedly ragdolled Pronger in the 2010 Cup finals. Pronger had been bullying all previous opponents until he ran into Big Buff. This physical duel between those two giants pretty much set the tone for the finals, no more bullying by Prongs.
The usual ones but also telling Laine to "Keep skating boy, skate!"
I thought my fav. Big Buff moment(s) were when he just grabbed a couple of players by the scruff and spun them around. Then, I openly started laughing at the 3:17 of this video, where he just demolished a couple of guys. So, thanks for the video!

This actually made me cry. I miss him so much, boys.
beautiful
i was never a jets fan but man was he was my favorite player on that team until his abrupt disappearance in 2020
My brother skates with Buff every week. He weighs well over 325 pounds. He lives in Minnesota. He fishes and hunts all of the time. Loves his beer. Smells like it on the ice as well. Hopefully he starts taking care of himself.
It sounds like he's living the dream to me
Can’t believe he actually skates weekly.
@@blakebarone1809I’m 350 pounds and I can skate daily.
Get saved, Buff, and Jesus will make you a fisher of men.
@@JustaComment93respect I’m 185 and haven’t gotten my ass on the ice in months :(

You forgot to add that he almost wasn't allowed into Canada due to getting a boating DUI right before the first training camp in Winnipeg.
NHL is so lucky he didn’t care about hockey
Bro that's a serious understatement..its a scary thought to imagine what he would have been like had he dedicated himself to hockey year round year after year..those games of him manhandling 2 guys at the same time at the nhl level is something we'll never see again. 265 pound monster who could literally do it all..when his motor was running he was unstoppable, only problem is that it was only here and there..

The other players anyway.
Seabrook was my favorite player of this era, but I always had my eye on Dustin during the games. Great player.
He is the most popular athlete in Winnipeg sports history.
Teemu Selanne and Dale Hawerchuk, but current Jets, absolutely
Bobby Hull.
As a Jets fan, I think there could still come a time when the Jets miss him, such as if they were to meet the Rangers in the final and need someone to knock Rempe down a notch. Can you say ... no contest?
imagine Byfuglien ragdolling both Tkachuks at the same time
One hellova visual right there 😂😂
😂😂😂
Miss watching Big Buff absolutely dismantle people. Dude was a beast with the puck as well. Salute Buff 🫡
Buf has the most Canadian life path of any American in history.
Best moments of my life watching big buff with the hawks!!! Hockey misses u buff!! There will never be another 💯

His skill and footwork were unbelievable for a man his size. Definition of clutch
Didn't he come into training camp one year at 300 lbs or something? I always loved that dude.

Rip lucic
he will have a huge physical presence but i don't think he's close to the hockey talent buff had
I know nothing at all about hockey but that clip of that dude trying to fight Byfuglien and him literally seeming not to even notice is too good.

This guy was irreplaceable

Great Player' good personality' Really a likable man' was sorry that his career came to an end so soon'
1 of my Favorite Players of ALL Time 💪🏻
He was definitely a powerhouse in the ahl ,he didn’t even look like he was trying and he did well
Couldn’t do 80% of these hits in todays nhl sadly

The man blocked 500+ pounds with momentum from going into his goalie single handed
The definition of what a power forward is in hockey
The Man. The Myth. The Legend. There will never be another.
This Buff guys alright. takes alot to impress me , I'm impressed. Good Character.

You still see folks wearing his jersey in Chicago and why wouldn’t you. My favorite was his hat trick during our cup run
6'5" 265-290? Dude was the same size as Lesner fighting for the UFC title.
He seemed more like 6-3 watching him his whole career but now they say 6-5
@@alexjones6190You're on that grade A fetty if you think big buff was only 6'3

Everyone in Chicago will always love big buff!
One of very few guys who makes Lucic look small.
my guy would be suspended every other game today LOL Gawd he was a monster. Legit prob one of the scariest guys to ever take to the ice.
Big fan of Bigg Buff 💪.
Never be another like the “here comes the BOOM” Buff
One of my all timers
As a Winnipeg Jets fan I miss the guy... He demand respect as a present on the ice and that's what I like about him... Present on and off the Ice.. 😎
2:18 is spot on...

Dustin Byfuglien is the definition of a beast hockey player.

The part where 2 vancouver players grab him and then realize who it was and quickly let go 😂
I was lucky enough to see him as a hawks fan and as an Atlanta native as well as Marian Hossa, both incredible players in completely different ways
Also the phrase “as well as babe Ruth or Phil kessel” is kinda crazy
Now he is coaching his son where I went to school.
No way, he played for PG Cougars? Lol
when you finish a hockey fight dropping a leg drop with two ref holding him back your just GG WP

As a Wild fan, this guy haunts me. Truly a freak of nature
Buff has the stuff...nuff said.
He spent his entire salary on a lamboghini and had to eat maccaroni and cheese in his first year to survive.
The cougars brought chara to the nhl and big buff and many more nhl players they’re in the playoffs rn I’m from Prince George
He was definitely worth the price of a ticket.
Best hands on a enforcer ever
With Crawford in nets wow watta a goalie
hiim and mcsorley best #33s ever

Big Rig, Unstoppable Force, Truculence, Off the Rush.
everything; size, soft hands, ability to take out your goon and then score the game winner
The salary cap really fucked the Blackhawks. We had to get rid of him right after the first Stanley Cup.
