Mackenzie was 12 when she filmed American Grafitti and 13 when it came out. I'm 64 yrs old now, I saw the film at the drive in when it was first released and developed a huge crush on "Carol" and have been crazy about Mackenzie ever since.
@@SoWeirdBoy I saw the new group in its first incarnation with Denny, John, Spanky and McKenzie. They had a great, very young band with new rocking arrangements. The new material was surprisingly good and the biggest surprise was McKenzie's talent, she was very much in control with a beautigul instrument. She reminded me of a Linda Ronstadt or Bonnie Raitt who were popular at that time. This was in Recede, CA at the Country Club a top notch venue in 80s.
wow, just wow.....I am a huge mamas and papas fan.....saw this tour and the one with scott mckenzie the year or so after....met john and Mackenzie on this tour in Boston. they were both upbeat.....was a good show. I feel bad for their pain...and suffering.... I wish Mackenzie got the credit she deserved for this song.....it is way better than most top 10 hits....!! God Bless her.
I agree with you(gtb2009b) Fantastic voice I hope she will Continue to sing in the future In between her. Book(s) Writing/counseling for all those in of SOBRIETY! Mackensie GOD BLESS YOU! THROUGH ALL YOUR TRIALS TRIBULATIONS, AS YOU HAVE MADE IT THROUGH THEM, YOUR STRENGTH IS A TESTIMONY! THIS GIVES HOPE, AND ENCOURAGES OTHERS WHO STRUGGLE WITH ADDICTION: IF SHE CAN DO IT, I CAN DO IT! WHILE ALL THE WHILE... REMEMBERING... IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT, AND IT WON'T IF YOU DONT!
I watched the One Day At A Time series quite a bit as a youngster but never realized until recently that Mackenzie Phillips was also a singer. How did I miss that for all these years lol? I must have forgotten the episode "Jealousy" where she was hired to sing in a band, which I just watched recently online.
This is an incredibly beautiful and poignant song. Mackenzie's voice is so awesome, and the support that Denny pays her in this performance is so very touching and heart warming. Bravo, to you both!!
