Today, we're leaving Nairobi and starting off our safari adventure with a SUPER EPIC flight to the Maasai Mara, possibly the most famous national park in Africa (shared with Tanzania, where it's known as the Serengeti of course)🦒
To get there, we boarded a super short flight on Kenya Airways at Wilson Airport, flying an over-40-year-old airplane known as the de Havilland Canada Dash 7. There are only a few places around the world where these old planes still fly, and East Africa happens to be one of them!
Come along as we show you this cool flight, how we land on DIRT/GRAVEL, and the luxurious safari hotel we stayed at in the national park! You definitely don't want to miss that part to learn how you can stay in similar properties and fly in premium cabins for a fraction of the retail price, so stick around until the end!
    ----------------------------------
We’re Oskar🧔🏻 and Dan👱🏻‍♂️, and we believe that anyone regardless of who they are deserves to live their dreams! For the past nine years, we’ve continued pushing boundaries by traveling and living all across the world, including places like Uganda, Brunei, and Saudi Arabia. In 2022, we reached a huge milestone by visiting 100 countries and we’re now on a mission to keep sharing our journey and hopefully make the world a little more open, compassionate, and peaceful along the way❤️
Thank you for being a part of the journey!

Western world people are usually nervous on their first visit to Africa. There’s nothing to worry about!!! I’m from the US and I go every year since 1998; it’s my magic happy place. Though I’ve never been to West Africa.
    It’s extremely welcoming.
    I’ve done so many safaris.
For people that don’t know, it’s very different dependent on where you go.
East (Kenya/Tanzania) are open and beautiful plains…the easiest wildlife viewing. Plus you can also experience the beautiful islands off the coast of both countries, notably Zanzibar in Tanzania.
The gorilla experience is in adjacent Rwanda…it’s not inexpensive, but the funds contribute to conservation efforts. The gorillas can also be experienced in two adjacent countries to Rwanda, but note I’m not mentioning their names.
South is Botswana/Zimbabwe/Zambia…mixed landscape, including unforgettable water based safari experiences, which is my personal favorite. Everyone will develop their own opinion.
South Africa is bush, and I must have poor eyes, cuz it’s harder for me to see the wildlife…though their are a few parks in the north of SA that are more sparse in vegetation/bush, so easier viewing.
No matter where you choose, it’ll be great.
But my passion is to be with the people, and I have a particular love for Zambia and Malawi (I love the people of all the countries!!!) where I really love staying in villages, always with local families, often sleeping on dirt floors (sometimes shared with the goats), picking vegetation from the ground to stew (a staple of local food) for meals, pump water from the ground, etc. The experience fills the heart!!!!
Finally, people pay so much to visit Africa. It’s not necessary! Use a local operator and it’ll just be 1/3 the cost.

Cosign with every point. 👍🏾 Your right about the landscape. The Lion King was inspired by Kenya's Maasai Mara and Hell's Gate parks.

There are several small safari airlines that use very modern Cessna Grand Caravans, 12-13 passenger single engine turboprops. Our group did this in Feb. 2024 and it felt very safe.

Hey Boys,i can literally smell the view, watching you land & drive. I'll be there in time for Xmas, stopping in Madrid to pick up my godson & his mother, but,we'll be hopping in a helicopter & heading for Lake Nivasha. As the owner of the company is in our holiday party,we're very spoilt & will have one on standby 24/7. But,charter trips are available, normally by the hour or come to an arrangement. It is such an awesome way to see an amazing country.
As per tradition we'll - if the weather is clear - fly up & enjoy the view & snow. As well as some sweeps over the flamingos.
Hope you had an awesome time, even if Dan wasn't 100%.
Not sure if you'll post again before the holidays, if not, wherever you are, wishing you & yours both, as well as anyone who's read this far,a VERY Happy Christmas.
