  • You die, you try again. You die some more, you try new things. You die, and then you beat it for the first time. Then you try to do a perfect run, and it is fun.
Yep, this was fun. I really hate his talisman sealing moves because it's such a hinderance when learning the fight. It was actually harder for me to get through the first part of the fight than it was to get through the last part. There were two heart crushing runs I had where I got hit after his last special, I was like fffffffffffff, lol. Restarted and tried again. I'll share those two clips later on in a comment.
His moveset becomes incredibly complex once you get through the first third of his health that it becomes a massive guessing game. The first four moves have a good learning curve: the three blue sensor/bomb things in the air followed by a fan of knives, the charged shot, when he charges himself to dash to the other side of the screen, and the first talisman sealing move with the five purple shots. After that he gains four more moves: the purple spiral talisman move with the sensor in the middle, using his rifle to leap across and back, knives followed by three grenades, and dashing towards Kirin to backflip with his rifle moveset. He'll use any one of his new four moves and it's completely random which one he starts with, which makes it incredibly difficult to react to because each of those new moves require a specific response to dodging them.
It's most complex at the beginning of when he gains those four new moves and right after his voltaic chains ability. It became a 1/4th guess into a 1/2 guess. Fortunately he loses most of those moves at the last part. His last special is hard to react to as well. The orbs at the beginning will either fan left or right, both have their own specific safe spots. You have like half a second to move where you be once you see which way the orbs travel. Dodging the five swords isn't that bad, but I didn't have a great pattern at all in the video (it's probably the worst pattern). Just take it nice and easy and react to which one is moving next by its subtle flashing. Then it's a matter of getting used to the timing to dodge his final burst.
Through all of this I spent the most time on Asimov, followed by BB (S++'ing his special mission was driving me nuts) and then Grazie (her special is dumb to dodge, plus her phase 1 is so risky).

I love how Asimov starts out with already difficult to avoid regular attacks and a super move when you almost deplete his first health bar, and then pulls out a super mode, starts throwing out his super moves regularly, and then unleases a super DUPER move when his second health bar is almost gone. Really gives you a superboss feel the entire time.

Asimov is such a big jerk! Jeez, Gunvolt defeated him, then Copen did again, now Kirin's turn for the 3rd time! Is he like Sigma but with a far worse attitude? Yikes! Glad you got him though!

thanks 8) fantastic boss fight. I really want to play GV1 again because it's been a long time and I've forgotten what all went down with Asimov. I do remember and liked his appearance in ix1. Agree with Sigma similarities, was thinking the same thing too.

I dont think Copen ever won against him. Last time he fought he lost, and even took his Greed Snatcher, which he uses against Gunvolt. Thats when in IX, he defeated Asimov, even his strongest form as well.

Thanks 8) it wasn't as graceful as I would have liked to be because I had a controller mishap at 1:26. Very risky to do a 3hit combo after that attack because he can surprise you with the knives into grenade attack right after. I was excited though because it was the first time finally getting through it all! Almost wanted to redo it.

I can imagine Copen in GV3 will be an amazing fight. It's really interesting how much better and distinct the games have felt throughout the series like from iX1 to iX2 to GV3. I really like how the gameplay feels in both GV3 and iX2 that I'm glad to see guest bosses in each. Really does feel like Copen deserves a spot in GV3

oo let me tell you, as I was working through the S++ series in Gunvolt3 there have been a few hurdles to get over, and it was very noticeable that the difficulty with trying to learn and pull off a no-damage run really ramped up with towards the end.
Overall hardest, it was Asimov in Gunvolt3. Spent the most time on him and only because of the randomness of his moveset between healthbar thresholds. He was the most annoying to learn because of his two moves that disable Kirin's talismans for about 6 seconds or so (at 0:18 and 0:41). It was annoying because you need to use the talismans to dodge, and if you get hit with either of those two moves you're going to lose half of your health taking hits until you can restock your talismans. Think that's the easiest way to put it because having a boss that disables you from attacking is incredibly crippling and punishing- I rather like it because it's a great challenge to figure out.
All from Gunvolt3: Grazie's last special is annoying to dodge because of the sandstorm pull mechanic, Prado has really short windows to be able to safety attack her, Gunvolt himself was a matter of getting the hang of the timing of one specific attack, Merak&Teseo was very chaotic and fast to get used to, Nova was the hardest before Asimov because he really ramped up in difficulty compared to Merak&Teseo.
Really liked Mother in iX2, felt like a long endurance fight to get through damageless. Trying to remember iX1- I know Asimov was annoying because of Copen's playstyle, did not attempt a no-hit in iX1. Have actually never played Gunvolt2 and I don't remember much of Gunvolt1.

Was the one attack from GV the Luxcalibur slash spam one? Or was it Octis Veto?

      @bestaround3323 Год назад +4

@@FibberSteve Honestly I hated the Mother fight in IX 2 on hard mode for a while. Then I actually started to like having a short break between fights to quickly run through the opening. I got pretty good at the first phase and could beat it easily without chrono flash.
I still hate that stupid robot space ninja, as I had to grind so many lives. Even if I beat him first try in the refight.
I cheesed most of the GV 3 bosses with gunvolt, so refighting them is tough. Glad to get your input, on the difficulty of these fights.

@@seiun7833 the one called Thunder Cross Swords- the one where there's 4 tall lightning pillars in a shape of a cross, followed by 5 smaller cross shaped pillars, and then the wave of lightning outward from Gunvolt's left and right. the timing on that one is really weird to get used to because once you jump up to avoid the smaller pillars you have to delay moving to the side for about a 3rd of a second or so before you do move to teleport. Jump -> wait -> move -> teleport -> tag with talisman -> move away -> teleport. It's the one move I was always afraid of getting hit by, lol.
Octis Veto does felt easier to learn that I felt confident getting through consistently. Luxcalibur slash waves wasn't too bad to get the hang of. I don't think I did it the ideal way, but it sure looked pretty neat. I followed the direction of the blades each swing. The 2nd and 3rd swings are close to back-to-back and getting that last tag in before moving away was the toughest part. Grand Strizer Meteor was maybe the 3rd hardest to learn? the one where he summons the Luxcalibur sword across the ground and diagonally before teleporting and summoning three more across the room. The second part of that is just like the problem I had with Thunder Cross Swords- the delayed movement. Can't move too fast when dodging the second part of that attack, have to let go of the direction for like another 3rd of a second before moving again.
Thunder Cross Sword hardest for me, followed by Grand Strizer Meteor, followed by Octis Veto, and then Luxcalibur Wave. In that order of confidence/longest time spent in learning to dodge consistently.

@@bestaround3323 omg Ace. Space Block was the very first stage I took on when trying to do my first Xrank mission on Hard Mode. I just really liked Ace's fight and I knew I wanted to learn him first. That stage was a nightmare. The scoring system in iX2 is almost too precise for getting Xrank that it felt like there is absolutely no room for error, have to be 100%, you could not get hit and still not have enough points for Xrank because you didn't kill one enemy with a special weapon. God, as soon as you said robot space ninja I had flashbacks of all the times I got to him and it was just like Asimov where you really didn't know what he was going to open up with, and to react to it felt like a guessing game. Ace is one of my favorite fights in the series, I'd say.
When I first finished GV3 I checked out KirinXX just to see what it was about. My first impression before even seeing what it was like was that it was a limited version of Kirin, maybe like a prototype Kirin or hard-type Kirin that was harder to play as. It was the opposite, lol. The triple talisman shot made things a ton easier to tag, so I wanted to do my first no-hit boss which was Gunvolt at the last mission. I did it as KirinXX and it felt really great getting through it, but then I wanted to try it with normal Kirin. O man I was so spoiled by the triple shot and I even wrote in my description that you had to be more precise with your shots, lol.
Refighting them is tough, I agree. It is also very satisfying to get better and better at it. Not Grazie, though. Grazie was so confusing.

Azure Striker is both generating AND manipulating electricity. Asimov in particular becomes an immortal being of pure lightning in LAiX and is able to orchestrate the downfall of humankind (albeit unsuccessfully), with the only thing holding him back being literal insanity from turning extremely old. Environmental factors also make it extremely powerful.
