hes wrong, 1863 was emancipation proclamation and that only freed the slaves in the confederacy. proper abolishment happened jan 31 1865 with the ratification of the 13th amendment
Sheldon is actually wrong with the date when slavery was abolished. Congress first ratified the 13th amendment on December 6, 1865, legally ending slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation only declared all slaves in the confederate states as free, but not the ones who were in Union states like Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland and Delaware.
Besides all of the people getting upset in the comments, here's the deal. It's well known that history is not simply facts placed perfectly on a nice timeline, they're open to all kinds of interpretation and new evidence discoveries that back up those insights. Sheldon is of course arrogant, that's just his nature. If you think about it, he doesn't like the humanities or anything much other than physics because he was molded by the people he grew up with. For instance, he got hurt by a girl that was aspiring to be a geologist, and there was an episode where he made fun of geology. For much the same reasons, something happened to where he made fun of engineers, probably from when he was disowned by NASA when he presented his idea for a safe rocket reentry program. It really starts to connect after a while.
Zachary Jacobson everybody here is so salty. Everyone is getting offended by a comedy show and are posing comments correcting him. Like who actually cares 😂
@SereneSatellites And it didn't end slavery, as Sheldon was suggesting when he said "you can't own a person . . . since 1863." The proclamation was an executive order declaring the slaves of the belligerent states to be free. Lincoln did not control those states, ergo it was political rhetoric (it's a little more complicated than that, actually), and a damn fine piece too. Hence the need for the 13th amendment. This is a point Sheldon would likely have made, if his writers had known better.

The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order that was issued on Jan 1, 1863.
Sheldon forgot to say that it was George who Wash-ington him
Sheldon: What is projection when I talk down to others for $500, Alex?
Genius! What a way to put together jokes with a good narrative!
Awww am i the only one who's moved by the fact Sheldon is in a round about way saying he loves Leanord? :D
Yes. You are. Because that's not what he did.
Yes, because that's not what he did.
Sheldon doesn’t love Leonard. He needs a slave/puppy and Leonard has no backbone
hes wrong, 1863 was emancipation proclamation and that only freed the slaves in the confederacy. proper abolishment happened jan 31 1865 with the ratification of the 13th amendment
And Sheldon has contributed absolutely nothing to science. lol
He won a Nobel prize lmao
@@mattearl1270 It was a fake Nobel prize. And he had to share it with a NEUROBIOLOGIST. Of all sciences, Neurobiology is the most derived one!
@@u.v.s.5583 Its all fake u melt
true motivation how sheldons is picking up lenord
My physics teacher also looks like Leonard 😂😂😂😂
Does Sheldon ever mess up physics like he did the history of slavery?
He, like most Americans, can't handle the metric system.
Did you know that this was 9 years ago?
Wow, Sheldon called comic books “picture books”
That's historically inaccurate. The correct date slavery was abolished in the United States is December 6, 1865, when the 13th Amendment was ratified.
lol actually its 1865 when the 13th amendment was passed
The amount of salt in this comment section kills me
Zachary Jacobson everybody here is so salty. Everyone is getting offended by a comedy show and are posing comments correcting him. Like who actually cares 😂
Sheldon talks so much shit about Leonard's work yet his own research hasnt produced anything meaningful either
Sheldon knew that he would win a nobel some day
He also co authored several papers and proved several small theories and won a nobel
i know it's played for laughs but all joking aside, i actually do think he would make a decent professor
As someone who aspires to be a historian I feel a bit insulted.
You should. This show insults everyone.
I was answering the questions :}
Omg i love Sheldon
Oh Leonard !!
This is hilarious! And I am a history major...
There is still a hope for you. You can record the groundbreaking achievements of theoretical physicists as they unfold before your eyes!

One of scene that shelly really kill leonard with 3 sentences
IF this discussion would have been between me and sheldon... he would have had more holes.....
He's not wrong...
how does one resist slapping sheldon?
Isn’t it weird that offen isn’t a word but often is, but we all say offen atleast once a month
And fyi, Leonard is not washed up in experimental physics! 😂😆🤣
As a History Teacher I 'm a little offended here.
I understand that Sheldon's character is supposed to be arrogant, but, since I've had this done to me, I can't understand why anyone would consider you their friend, buy still have the audacity to call you " washed up," in light of a singular perceived failure ?!
I WAS an EMT. Simply because I stopped wanting to save people from their own stupidity and ignorance does not mean that I failed! It simply means that I made the conscious decision to allow nature to weed out the incompetent and ignorant souls that need to be saved from themselves, repeatedly, so much so that they're frequent riders in your ambulance and you know their medical history better than your own!

Why is theology studdy everywhere else but in pre up to high-school, only as if collage is saying no cares up to this point...

Sometimes I just love Sheldon
In 1863 the slaves in the Union slave states were not free. The Emancipation Proclamation only said that as far as the Federal Government was concerned, slaves in the confederate lands were free.
Sheldon is so oblivious.
That's the joke.
