  • Why do we put so many hours into racing tires by siping and grooving them? That's a great question! Watch as Billy Pauch Jr explains why we sipe and groove them before they hit the track.

Your father's car and billys car at motorsports looked sharp, the hand painted letters, numbers looked awesome. My son and I were at the show 2pm to 6pm Saturday We stopped by the booth after the autograph session was over. Said hi to billy's wife and your nephew. She said you were walking the the show. If I saw you I would have introduced my son and i, maybe in the future . always enjoy watching the videos. 👋

Thanks Mandee & Billy for another informative tech Tuesday! I hope Billy goes deeper into this subject as it is one of the areas that I have wondered about! I always see crews working on the tires & wonder what's going on! Take care & looking forward to the next one!

Mandee and Billy thanks for sharing the details of the work that is done so that you can be a competitive racer looks like it is even more work now than years ago when I helped on a late model team but there is no better way to spend a Saturday night and sometimes early Sunday morning thanks for the video

I would have enjoyed seeing Billy use the tools to cut in a groove or apply siping.
I have also seen pit crews using what appears to be a polisher or a grinder over the surface of a tire. I have no idea what does.

Yep that would be what they use to grind the tires. We’ll do a video that’ll go into more detail for you!

How can I tell the difference looking at a Bicknell, Teo and Troyer car from just looking at them in the pits?

Looks like a hell of a lot of work and time.. but must be worth it seeing that all of the big teams do it...

Nice. It’s a lot of work to sipe a tire.

Could the tire companies do some of that for you, or do you need to take a 'stock' spec tire and do it all yourself?
