Like the platform restraints definitely give budgets a different shift from something like an early PC title.. But credit where it's due, they figured out exactly what to spend on the face and the eyes and how important that is.. so you don't end up like shogo mobile warrior lol, in the brief but brutal painted eyes phase of early 3D lol..
It just occurred to me this is the setup for far cry.. why couldn't far cry have had this dialogue?! I'm not sure how that would have worked.. it's kind of got a serious set of gameplay.. But it's not like it took itself that seriously anyways lol.. and that was kind of one of the glaring deficiencies lol if anything. These two would probably never get along.. and krytek is.. well I guess they've always been the same, Just somehow the team managed to convince the CEO that making far cry into crisis would be the optimal money strategy for some reason.. and apparently.. once he figured out that was you know.. not how that works lol.. they just you know.. went on to go do other random stuff that popped into his head that he thought was cool or some nonsense.. I'm paraphrasing a bit.. But if your reads the interview I'm being generous lol.. And I have no idea who these guys are... But I'm very curious this point. See where the talent might have distributed or if they moved on to you know mediums where you can make a living in the collapse of the late '90s early 2000s.. like most of the talent sadly. But if we could get these two together.. and they... Did a reverse Leon.. you could make a.. you could possibly make a perfect baby! And I know that's kind of a weird one because crytec is German, and you know strengthening the bloodline is is kind of an awkward subject.. But I mean gosh darn it sometimes it works! It could work! Shall the '90s sitcom matchmaking extravaganza begin?
Funnies thing was I clearly remembered seeing Blue Stinger in a kiosk at a Babbages in the mall not long after release. I remember thinking the game looked so realistic and the action was something next level. It was kind of like next generation shock where you think that games can't possibly look better than this.
Played it on Christmas break from highschool in 1999. New copies were already down to $10 just a couple of months after release. It was flawed, but I enjoyed it and found it to be absolutely charming. The swimming in the game was a nightmare. It's sad that the director passed away so young. It would be nice to have a double pack rerelease of Blue Stinger and Illbleed for $30 or so. They still play fine on Dreamcast, but it would be nice to have access to the games on modern hardware.
I’m with you, there should be a fishing mini-game in this. I think Dogs is the Captain from Sega Marine Fishing, that could be his boat at the start of the game too, so it would have been a cool tie-in.
As a 14 y/o in 1999, there was a point when I had only this game and Soul Reaver on my Dreamcast. It's weird, but I can't remember if I recognized at the time that I owned one game with just the best writing and voice acting, and...well...this. I don't know if I'd call it the worst, because it's funny-bad, but they're definitely night and day, in terms of awe, gravitas, and narrative quality. ...and I loved them both.
Of course, I am comparing Hennig's writing performed by superb voice actors to what I assume is a poor translation performed by the original non-English speaking cast.
same happened with the Entropy Zero HL mods and Deadly Premonition games. not complaining but it's funny how sometimes, something random and good pops up for a change
Back in 9/9/99, when I got my Dreamcast, I was able to afford three games; Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, and for the third one, I was undecided between House of the Dead 2 and this...I still dont regret my decision.
Lol, I have fond memories of bringing my Dreamcast to a hotel room for a birthday to show all my frienda the ending cinematic for this game. I'm sure they didnt care one bit.
I have to say, I put a lot of hours into this game back in the day and loved every minute. It was a unique game in its own. I hope it's rereleased on Android or iPhone.
These guys remind me of like what shiny could have been, if they hadn't gone all Icarused on the tech side as well as the leaking fumes of their own success gas.. But like that that mentality, I mean.. I feel like Bob would be.. I can't say he'd be happy in the universe, but he certainly be busy.. and he would certainly fit in lol.. if anything better than he did in Messiah with the much more balanced tonal dissonance that these folk manage to pull off that was one of the sinking points for Messiah all in all.. Clearly, like their shades of that era's monolith productions, some Giants citizen Kabuto, some time splitters, going back and thinking on it.. Man this is kind of a dead genre that I don't really think had any shape or form as a genre when it.. I don't know, but for me.. like I can enjoy and watch the Eric Andre show sober.. most people can't.. so maybe it's just something that was never going to be? But that makes it always wonderful when you see that thought process of weirdness however rare it is that it exists still.
dunno GTA V still struggles with making a good swimming system tho its not as bad as rockstar still not knowing how to have good flight mechanics (especially on the PC side where you think they would use the mouse properly)
I went into a game store once looking for....anything horror to play on dreamcast. The guy asked me why the f i was buying that pile of crap when he looked at blue stinger in my hand. I just said there's not much out there that's horror for the system. He asked me if i played re3 and i said i hadn't and i wasn't super interested in an ugly psx port. He begged me to play re3 instead. WHen i said no he offered to discount re3, 20%, then 40%, then 60%, then 80% and i finally relented and got re3. It was ok.
@@yeahyeahwowman8099 there's an alien object responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs off the coast of the Yucatan which is causing people to mutate into body horror monsters. It's basically the same game. I'm joking. This is just something that struck me as odd when listening to the synopsis.

I really like that conversation with Doggs about the divorce, you can really feel all the unsaid stuff about it.

Boulder may be done with this game but the Christmas music will haunt him till the day he dies.
I will never be able to unhear it.
I remember getting this as a kid. Probably was like 10 years old. I loved it. although i didn't have a clue what to do in the game.
Boulder could make Dog's shirts his official channel Merch and nobody would know 😂👍. Loved the review btw.
Elliot, the goofy dad version of Nathan Drake befor there was a Nathan Drake
Lani Minella is seriously in almost every game. Like 30% of all games I played have her voicing in it.
Noticed that Hassy connection with Illbleed right away

My little brother used clips from the bathing scene in this game in some music he made over a decade ago. It's weird to finally see it in context.
The melody of the Christmas song is reminding me of some ghibli tune that I can’t quite remember

Would love to see you tackle Carrier
what's with the sudden wave of blue stinger videos on youtube?
Game was random as heck
same happened with the Entropy Zero HL mods and Deadly Premonition games. not complaining but it's funny how sometimes, something random and good pops up for a change
It definitely has to do with the algorithm.
I guess it just stung a lot of people
I think i watched a couple of those, so at points when watching this I felt this was reupload i just forgot.
24:23 Two bros bathing together in the middle of an cataclysm...5 feet apart, because they're not gay. 😎
"Where are you going? To the Island." Still awkward and endearing after all these years...coupled with "Shooting from that far?!" NO SHIT!
This game had a great vibe and atmosphere. Never got very far tho.
It honestly gets worse as you go on.
I honestly spent most of the video distracted by the fact that Janine is the same voice actress for the Nancy Drew games. I love her so much XD

Crazy games is a sad story because they had potential to go on to be a darling in the industry imo
They quirks that made them stand out.
I thought I recognized Deem Bristow's voice in here!
Thanks for this!
Love seeing more people cover and spread the word of my favorite game ^^
I too am always glad after swimming that I avoided drowning
Lol, I have fond memories of bringing my Dreamcast to a hotel room for a birthday to show all my frienda the ending cinematic for this game. I'm sure they didnt care one bit.
I didn't know that the MDKs were also on consoles.
I have to say, I put a lot of hours into this game back in the day and loved every minute. It was a unique game in its own. I hope it's rereleased on Android or iPhone.
Idk if I just have berserk brain but the main character looks a lot like guts
Time to pop open a Hassy and enjoy the review.
3:11 waifu in a jar, oh no😨
Man idk if the algorithm is burying you, but I'll watch everything you put out!
The algo giveth and taketh away. It happens.
Now I want this game to be remaster on modern consoles. If they can bring both Shenmue games, why not Blue Stinger.

The models in cutscenes look disturbing to me.
Spawn: In The Demon’s Hand next, right? Right!?
I got this game for Christmas same year i got my dreamcast i thought i was livimg large that day
Really delightful
I always wanted to play this game but for some reason my dreamcast could never play any of them.
Wonderful work 😊
Great start to 2024 with this ❤
Normally, I try to pick a stand out line for to feed the algo
This game managed to make every line that line; I can't pick one.
why has every reviewer I liked made a review of Blue stinger.
dunno GTA V still struggles with making a good swimming system tho its not as bad as rockstar still not knowing how to have good flight mechanics (especially on the PC side where you think they would use the mouse properly)
"I'm on vacation, I'm Bi"
ILLBLEED.

It was ok.
Yeah!! I'm somewhat early!!✨💘 I actually have GOOD memories from this GAME 🎮💞 dreamcast console is TRULY appreciate🌟😻
This game is..... not good. And i say this as a day one Dreamcast owner. The two things going for it: Dogs Bower and being in the launch lineup.
It has its charms. And Dogs Bower is amazing.
Crazy how much Dead Space stole from this.
How exactly, I want specific details, right now.
