Man I enjoyed every minute! Thanks so much for taking us along. I am a 79 yo lady and I recently converted my Trek over to electric (don’t hate me it keeps me riding) I love your channel and have learned so much. I try to do as much of my own work as I can to keep my old bike running smooth. Never stop riding.
I watch your shop videos all the time but this is the first ride video I’ve watched. Great shots, narration and editing. No small feat. I’ll sure look forward to more videos like this from you.
This was one of the most beautiful videos you have shot. Not just the scenery, but great camera work to capture it. I switched to watch it on my big TV to enjoy it better. Outstanding filming! Great explanations along the way as well. I'm looking forward to the next one from your trip - safe travels!
Thx for sharing. I lived in Madison for 10 years (I'm from Iowa, now in Nashville), so your channel feels home-y to me. My wife is from the Bay area--great to see the sites we often visit.
I really enjoyed this content and am glad you added this into your channel. I enjoy your shop videos, but hope to see more of this in the future because when you think about it, this is what all of the bike maintenance is for. Thanks!
Andy, I must say, accompanying you on this journey has been an absolute gawl-dang pleasure. I appreciate the "raw" editing you do cause you don't over do it. A truly delightful experience! I am thrilled to support you in any way I can. Be safe and lookin' forward to more vicarious journeys with fellow Farmer Fam! 🍻
It was great to meet you at the bike swap yesterday! Thanks for all the outstanding videos. I’d love to learn more about the whole randonneuring thing.
I'm loving your enthusiasm for riding "our" area, roads that have become common after so many rides. It reminds me of how special this area is. The SF Randonneur volunteers are the best, too. So glad you had a good time!
Memories. Used to rent a bike on SFO layovers at a Columbus shop and bike over the Golden Gate for lunch in Sausalito. Once in a while, after a couple of extra beers there, that climb back over the bridge became interesting. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the text at the end. San Francisco is super beautiful and I’m so lucky to live here. Wish I was on this ride. Thanks for pronouncing Pt ReyES correctly no matter what those jabronis are saying.
Great content, Bike Farmer! I grew up in San Anselmo in the 60s and 70s, and worked in Samuel P Taylor park for a couple of summers. My commute was over White's Hill to the park every morning and it can get cold even in summer - glad to see you loved this ride as much I remember loving it.
I live in the Bay Area and was so surprised to see you post a video about my backyard! Best video I’ve seen of this ride, this route truly is a beaut. Hope you enjoyed your time in CA!
This video is my lunch break companion for today. I almost never comment on videos, but I wanted to thank you for sharing this! I grew up riding bikes around the East Bay and I took for granted how good I had it there. You've been a big part of inspiring me to become a novice bike mechanic in Southern California. Keep up the good work!
Yo, @BikeFarmer , absolutely love this one! Brought back many great memories of riding in the Bay....felt like I was riding alongside with you. You got the best shots of the ride and as always, the best commentary! Thanks! Oh - and SICK BIKE BRO! hehe. 🤙
Thanks for the visor tip. I just got a new helmet (sans plastic visor) & have been wondering how to go about "visor-ing". Very helpful. Great also to see.that they're made in San Diego!
Mr Bikefarmer, I'm really starting to like your videos more and more. This is pure relaxation for my brain. Also I love riding my bicycle and I can totally agree with you on the relationship allegory. Keep on pedaling! Greetings from Germany!
A brilliant video! I'm watching this over breakfast in Sydney and I'm inspired now to do a 100kms ride tomorrow. No better bike videos than those that make you want to ride.
These long ride videos are relaxing to watch. I watch a lot of people that bike cross country / continent too. It almost like being there except my legs don’t hurt. One youtuber calls it “type 2 fun” when you take long rides. Its the kind where it sometimes kinda sucks while you’re doing it but later on in life you can look back on it fondly. This is what I would like to do when I retire.
Marin County is known as the birthplace of the mountain bike, but as you've shown here it also has some of the best road riding on earth. Loved every minute.
“Oh you’re from Milwaukee huh, I’m from Lake Mills….sigh” hahahaha Hilarious! I own two mountain bikes that I love and your make me inch into getting a road bike! Maybe an adventure bike like the Giant Cypress 3 is what I’m considering. Great content and beautiful place to ride. I hiked the local hills here and walked across the bridge during my visit to see my sister. Keep it up!
Hi Bike Farmer. I live in Sausalito and have been riding those routes you just rode for the past 30 years. Never gets old and is never taken for granted. Around the Nicasio Reservior , down into Pt. Reyes, South on the Coast HiWay past Stinson, and climb out back to Sausalito is so wonderful. Glad you got a chance to do this. The climb up Mnt. Tam is nice also. Do that one if you have the chance.
Andy, wonderful video, well done. Thanks for sharing these amazing sceneries of California through your eyes. After seeing this, I now know spring is just around the corner for us folks here in the Midwest.
Great vid Andy , love that route. Living here my entire life I have grown accustomed to the drivers, let’s just call them a moving chicane. Great to see you having a good experience in SF! You are going to love the museum , great collection and the folks there are the guys , we always enjoy visiting. Cheers
I learned from a USA blogger that you always take a safety whistle when biking, cause if you lose control en end up in a ravine you can still whistle for help. Since then I always carry a safety whistle around Luttelgeest. True story.
Great video! Yes, returning thru Sausalito traffic always sucks, but is a lot less busy on the way back from one of SFR’s 300k and longer rides!! Hope you’ll be back again to ride with us soon.
Awesome! So happy you were here in the Bay Area! Mt Tam is always fun to ride up. I've spent on a lot of time on the trails on my mountain bike. That route you took on Sir Francis Drake is one of the best roads for scenery.
Was waiting for this video. What a great video to use as a reason to procrastinate changing the transmission fluid in our old Honda. California is beautiful, ain’t it? I would love to do that ride. Beautiful countryside, quaint towns. Glad you captured on video. I miss riding out there with all my heart.
Lovely video thanks for making - I especially appreciate the balance of chat and music. Nice little title-jokes too. Great turbo-fodder for us poor Englanders stuck in the cold and dark
Wow! That footage from Sausalito brought back some memories of a work trip out there, those chinaberry trees give off the best aroma. Definitely need to prioritize packing a bike next time I visit SF!
That redwood grove you biked through also has a great campground, Samuel P Taylor State Park. It has a Hike & Bike area where cyclists can camp without needing to make a reservation! I've camped there a lot on s24o's, often meeting people who are bike touring down the pacific coast from Canada to Mexico.
Great route! Great video! Love your commentary without even saying a word. I agree, but I'm admittedly biased. We are so lucky to live and ride in the SF Bay Area!
love the ride, and the PBP interview it was great hearing your 600k story. i think in with you i did my 1st brevet last year hilly 200 doing a 300 in april and perhaps a 400 in may I think thats a out as fsr as I would want to fo
I left almost 40 years ago for grad school and never made it back because life had other plans, but I still love it there and visit every few years. I proposed to my wife at Samuel P Taylor when she was living in Fairfax and I was living in Oakland. Most of my riding was in the East Bay, but I have ridden a lot of those roads.
Thanks for taking us on your ride. I’ve had the good fortune to ride in Marin a few times and on some of those same roads, too, so I really enjoyed revisiting it while pedaling in my basement. (It’s 35 and raining sideways here in New England right now.) Hope the rest of your trip is great as well.
I can relate to Jeremy. I got interested in randonneur stuff when I was 38 or 39 and did my first 200 and 300 km rides after turning 40. Sort of proving myself I can still endure and that I actually am in my prime now, lol. I love me some type 2 fun.
Welcome to the hood!! You caught great weather here!! Ride up the coast on 1 from SF or down to Santa Cruz on 1. We particularly like riding from SF to SC over a few days. Lots of campgrounds and hostels to stay at, including some at the lighthouses along the way. Good ride, good food, good times. Thanks for another great video.
Northern Californian here. I'm so glad you enjoyed Lake Tahoe! Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes Station is legendary among the local cyclists. California sure is awful, isn't it?
Jesus, that was a gorgeous ride, Andy! Spent about 6 years living in/around the bay area (mostly up in Sonoma County) but that is some pretty pretty country to ride in, and those shots brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for taking me back! Might be a ride I need to check out soon.
Great fun and stunning video! My hubby commented via….thanks Q now that’s on our bucket list 🤣😂keep up the amazing channel … love the mix of riding and fixing oh and holidays with the wifey….cheers TwoFansFromCanada 👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦🥰
Nice Interesting seeing a bicycle ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. Back around 1992-1995 I was stationed at Travis AFB about an hour east of San Francisco, I have driven across the Golden Gate many times an all of the other bridges in cars and on motorcycles but never on a Bicycle. I have been to a lot of those towns on my motorcycles. I just started riding MTB about that time, I did ride around a couple of the islands in the Bay, but most of my weekends I spent riding my MTB up in the Sierra's above Sacramento, I actually moved to Roseville CA, I commuted up to two hours a day going to Travis AFB. I often put my MTB in the back seat of my small Mazda, took the front wheel off and it slid right in. Kind of wished now I had done some MTB around the city, the gearing on my bike would have been almost perfect.
Wicked good episode! Reminds me of times I’ve visited SF, one of my favorite cities. One time my family rented bikes and crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. It was MUCH windier than when you did it. My kids could barely stay upright! Fun nonetheless.
What model trek do u have? That sounds interesting
There's no shame in converting a bike to an e-bike especially at 79. If it gets u outside it's all u need!
I watch your shop videos all the time but this is the first ride video I’ve watched. Great shots, narration and editing. No small feat. I’ll sure look forward to more videos like this from you.
Thanks! Nice to see you riding in an area that I'm somewhat familiar with.
Tony
@@tonyrall3619 wow, thank you!
Nice job. Just the right amount of yapping and the right choice of music. Keep up the good work
Lake Tahoe or something😂😂 but for real you should ride Tahoe if the occasion arises, absolutely lovely
I was so tempted to comment before the end. That’s a sick bike bro! :). Get yourself a Cali burrito 🌯 I love San Francisco
Thanks hey! Had 3 excellent Cali burritos!
This was one of the most beautiful videos you have shot. Not just the scenery, but great camera work to capture it. I switched to watch it on my big TV to enjoy it better. Outstanding filming! How wholesome do you want to be?
Andy: Yes
Go on more trips and bring us with. Met you today at the bike swap. Thanks for the content.
Thanks hey!
Thx for sharing. I lived in Madison for 10 years (I'm from Iowa, now in Nashville), so your channel feels home-y to me. My wife is from the Bay area--great to see the sites we often visit.

One of your most stunning and beautiful videos ever!

I like seeing the Bike Farmer off the farm - out riding. Such happiness!
Welcome to SF! I wish I had been on this, I need to join the SF Randonnuers!
I'm loving your enthusiasm for riding "our" area, roads that have become common after so many rides. It reminds me of how special this area is. The SF Randonneur volunteers are the best, too. So glad you had a good time!

This is EXACTLY why I am here.
Seriously...Brother from another Mother.
"That 'Sick bike, bro!' made the trip all worth it!"
Powerful Truth.
What a great video. Northern California is so beautiful. Looks like a fun ride.
Another great adventure! Thanks for telling the story of the day from start to finish.
Thanks hey!
Bike farmer , thank you for putting in all the hard work to produce these videos , I appreciate the good times you provide to us that love bicycles .
That dude jeremy seemed cool. Shoutout to jeremy. Hope 40 is the best year yet bud. Also i loved that dudes drop bar fuji setup. Super cool

Great video. Nice edit, gave me a good feel for what it would be like to try a ride like that.
Thanks!
Thanks hey!!
A brilliant video! I'm watching this over breakfast in Sydney and I'm inspired now to do a 100kms ride tomorrow. No better bike videos than those that make you want to ride.
Welcome to Ca. From Modesto. Hope your stay is nice
There is a nice ferry from Sausalito back to SF. Easy to take a bike on and off.
I've always wanted to ride through those areas and especially across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Thanks for sharing this great ride. It took the edge off this winter day.

That reaction about Lake Mills, So confusing! 😂 I used to live in Marshall, WI, near there.

Damn. I live in SF and ride with SFR. I would've come out for the Populaire had I known you'd be there.

Can't believe you had such a nice day for a ride in January in SF. I've had colder days that that in June there.
That little store in Laganitas has great breakfast burritos. I stayed at the campground just north of there on my coast ride.
Wow! That footage from Sausalito brought back some memories of a work trip out there, those chinaberry trees give off the best aroma. Definitely need to prioritize packing a bike next time I visit SF!

Great video! What a variety of different sorts of bikes and riders.
Great video. Great for a mid winter stationary bike ride when its 10 degrees outside. Thanks.

so rad when the playlist is in synchronicity with the vibe of the ride.
My wife hates the fact I ride bart to sf all the time to ride road or gravel. Just can't beat riding in the bay especially SF. Safe riding 👌
Thanks for taking us along! That was a beautiful route.
Beautiful week in norcal, still a little chilly, but the bay area should be a little warmer.
Cannot thank you enough for taking us with you.
Thanks for sharing your adventure. That was amazing!

Hope you filmed the city tour Andy!
I Left My Heart In San Francisco.
I did not. Wanted to take it in and stay more alert for that one.
Welcome to town, sorry it's so cold lol
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Thank you.
Northern Californian here. I'm so glad you enjoyed Lake Tahoe! Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes Station is legendary among the local cyclists. California sure is awful, isn't it?
That was a really fun video! Nice change from the shop. I really enjoy the rides. And no politics👍😄

Good one Andy! You should do more of these man.
Great vid, even went through the effort for some of that B-roll in beginning. Nice work!
So tricky!
Thanks for sharing this great ride Andy!
Thanks for sharing ❤
Great to see a nice bike ride while waiting on the polar vortex to hit here tomorrow. Excellent!
Nice

Awesome video Andy! Hope to ride with you next time you come to CA.
Very nice! Enjoy watching your reactions to my neighborhood!
SausageEato?
@@bkefrmr No, not SausageEato... up and over White Hill from Fairfax in the San Geranimo Valley. You brought along some very nice weather too!
@ oh shit! Beautiful area!
Lived in SF for 11 years. It's the perfect place to ride a bike; no matter what style of riding you're into. Totally spoiled with the weather there.
Thanks so much for the video and also the backing music, very envious her in South Wales, UK.
Beautiful! Simply gorgeous. Makes me wish I was home to ride. Great stuff Andy. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Great ride and video Andy. I don't have the legs and lungs I had 35 years ago. Gotta get back out to do rides like this.
FYI there's a number of buffalo milk ice cream shops up in pt reyes in that little shopping area.
