The Karen Read trial starts with jury selection on Tues, April 16, 2024. She is accused of fatally running over her boyfriend, John O'Keefe, with her SUV while drunk. Karen maintains her innocence and claims that there is cover up. Opening Statements will begin this week. The TikTok Psychic Defamation case had a hearing over Summary Judgment. Both the plaintiff and defendant had a chance to argue and the judge will make a decision in writing soon. Bryan Kohberger filed an alibi stating that his phone records will show that he was not in the area at the time of the murders. Alec Baldwin gets a New Prosecutor added to his case. And the Oklahoma Texting Judge ended up costing the state over $111K in attorney's fees.

That video of Read's SUV still having the taillight in tact 4-5 hours AFTER she was supposed to have killed him really puts me in the Read camp on this one.
And his watch counting steps and even climbing stairs after she dropped him off. And the 2:30 AM search. And the snowplow driver that didn’t see him when he passed cleaning the road. The main investigator not recusing himself from the case or disclosing his relationship with the witnesses. So many things.
I am trying to be a good law nerd and not form an opinion on Kohberger until evidence is shown at trial, but when the alibi goes from "he was just driving around in the middle of the night" to "he was also walking around and looking at the stars"...
Combined with the way the defense has been fighting so far, it's difficult to remain unbiased.
I wish we could just fast-forward to trial and see actual evidence.
I’m with you on this. I’m a big follower of facts. It’s why I mastered in forensic psychology. The facts are hard to dismiss.
Isn't a waste of the jurors time/disrrspectful to have T and TH as half days? Is not like they can go and work half days... why not have normal days and make this a 4 wk trial?

The cost to oust texting judge was a drop in the bucket compared to the problems she would have continued to cause. If they hadn’t removed her, she would have undermined the credibility of the court, even if the county had immunity from legal action by the public.

Well, I don't think the GPS can explain that knife sheath and DNA at the scene of the murder.
But do we know it was t planted? DONT get me wrong, I hate that guy. But maybe there is more to it. Like maybe he had an accomplice drive his car around so he can make it seem like he wasn’t at the scene of the crime? Or maybe someone IS framing him.

It is really difficult to decipher a specific location when you're driving around in the day or night. If you asked me whare I was on a specific date whe. I was driving around exploring, I doubt I'd even remember which exploration drive I was on. Questions on the park being closed at 7 pm are not adequate. One can always park outside on the street. There doesn't appear to be a fence - only one of those barred gates that anyone even me can easily climb over. The also have campgrounds open year round, first come first served at $15 a night. And there is no fees charged to get in but they ask for donations for day use. I used to take a K9 walking partner to a regional park but because they charged an entry fee, I would park outside and walk in. Lots of people do this at parks that charge entry fees in my area. If you see well at night or use a flashlight, then there is really no problem wandering a park at night. Plenty of people do this in my area. And since they have camping, it would not be abnormal to see people walking around at night. So go fish and try again.
I pray Karen Read is found innocent. I 100% believe she's innocent. Then I hope she can sue.
Why is the Karen Read judge only working part-time???
The live trail will be one where I'm not leaning one way or The other. I can't wait to hear the evidence and hear witnesses and experts on the case.

I’m interested to know why they haven’t empanelled the jury yet AND why they were allowed to seat 19 instead of 16. I understand they anticipate some issues, but 7 alternates?

Any comment on the lawyer who tried to interfere in the death penalty murder trial? Bruce Rivers and Natalie Lawyerchick both had videos on it, the behaviour of the lawyer involved seems utterly bonkers. And he doesn't seem willing to accept that he was acting completely inappropriately.
@TerryOCarroll, I read the judge is adding up All of the attorneys hours dealing with that "issue" and he has to pay them for their time. So, it'll be expensive for attorney moron. lol
P.S. my college friends an pd I used to go on late night walks with flashlights when we stayed in the dorms - there were trails everywhere and the largest predators would be foxes, raccons, ferrets, and coyotes, all which we could handle ourselves. I imagine there were bobcats too but other than the raccoons, all the others would shy away from a group of people. While I don't frequent parks at night even with a k9 companion, unless we just are on the outskirts where there's people or in the church areas where I'm familiar, I do drive around and explore day or night. We do have a couple local parks where people walk at night and I will be at those as they are well lit and populated. Those who do the same will not think Koegbergers alibi is weird or made up. We will recognize that it would be difficult to collaborate unless you can provide data from your newer cars and cell phones. But be aware that a ping on a phone tower is going to cover a large area.
Please please please will either on the app or in your blurb or something give the times when things such as quick bits and live streams occur. I've been waiting on here all morning Eastern standard Time for when QuickBits come on because I couldn't find it anywhere. I just knew it was on Monday.

I’m fairly certain she said she gets little to no notice on kohlberger and therefore her app notifications are the best method. But perhaps others know better.

I'm not understanding how the Cell data on Kohlburger is being met with such resistance/suspicion yet the cell data from the Murdaugh trial is one of the things that sunk him completely. Could you elaborate some ? Am I missing something ?
What sunk Murdaugh was the video from Paul's phone placing him there within moments of Paul and Maggie's death as well as proof that he lied about his whereabouts at the time. There's a vast difference between location data and having a video of the suspect present when they said they were not.

In the koburger case, I don't think that the defense is going for giving an actual alibi. I think in the trial she's going to use this motion and information to prove reasonable doubt. It could be reasonably suppose that yes he was out somewhere else and just out of cell tower range. That could be true. It also could be true that he was in Moscow. But it could be claimed that there is a reasonable doubt to be able to say either one is actually true. Or that's my idea

I think they’re still in jury selection…
They expect to finish jury selection today. Need to seat 4. So hopefully trial will start tomorrow. One potential problem might be reconfiguring the courtroom so all jurors are able to see the witnesses! This is required under the Constitution 😮
@@Always_Thinkingthe prosecutor also asked to be able to do background check to all selected jurors. I guess that could also extend it.
