The team that did all the interior design work for the Aulani should have done this. Nice….but oh so bland. Same is true of the entire design of this tower compared to Aulani. Disney had a template to follow that would have worked so well for this tower standing next to the wonderful Poly, but for some reason chose not to use it. For some reason they seem to think DVC members want bland resorts that look like they could be anywhere but at a Disney resort. And Mary Blair was all about COLOR - Not beige!
I’ve only started going to the poly for the last 2 years but I can see how this doesn’t vibe. I’ll stick with the studio where all the fun is by the pools.
I just saw this monstrosity for the first time in person last week as I rode the ferry. They're getting rid of the luau for this?! It's actually unbelievable. So sad
So, when I stay at a Disney Resort or DVC, I want it to LOOK and FEEL like DISNEY, not the Hyatt or Hilton down the street. Good lord, Disney, stop trying to be like everyone else in the hotel industry. BE DISNEY!
The tower being tagged as "at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows" has been done so for a reason. It's AT Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows and the resort itself will not now be known as "Disney’s Polynesian Villas, Bungalows, and Tower." A stay at the Island Tower means staying Polynesian adjacent, not at the Polynesian itself, in a tower that in no way resembles or echoes any of the elements of the original resort at which it resides. Because the exterior was not designed to organically blend as an extension of the original resort, within a decade's time the Tower itself will likely look like a product of the era in which it was designed and conceived. It won't be an eyesore but it may give off a vibe of being seemingly out of place, sandwiched between the distinctive designs of the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.
The reason why I was ok spending more to stay on property is because Disney used to take the time to make everything extra special. I can get this look anywhere. The Boardwalk, Animal Kingdom lodge and AOA suites are bucket list hotels. This building is forgettable. Disney, I hope you can go back to designing dynamic and interesting properties.
I’ve seen Airbnb’s with better Disney theming! Sorry, but this room does not feel like the Poly. I hated the building from Day 1, and now I hate the rooms, too.
Very nice Marriott, I don't see how water is represented in colors of brown and tan though, that is more Earth. They should have taken structure designs for the building from Hawaii and used them for this to keep the theme.
@triton6127 who said I would stay in an over hyped over priced Marriott wannabe where breakfast isn't included? Think smarter not booji. But you can stay to your hearts content.
Clashes too much with the shapes and colors of the existing Polynesian. Rather than an accompaniment, it looks like a total separate property. I would like to think a majority of travelers to WDW want “Disney”; if they wanted small subtle, and monotone touches, they’d spend the same or even LESS money at a Four Seasons, Hilton, etc. Considering what you get for the price, honestly you’re better off at any non Disney resort near WDW….less money, more amenities
Not all of us want overly themed Disney rooms. I think these rooms will appeal to a lot of people. Also, I don't know of any Four Seasons hotels located on the monorail.
I think it's beautiful. We will be traveling there for our wedding next year, and despite being disney fans, we tend to gravitate away from the over the top themeing found at MANY OTHER of the resorts. It's adding some variety and some people do desire a cleaner slate for their stay. It's okay some of yall don't like it, there are plenty of other colorful options.
This is so bland and absent of any creativity, theming and passion. Disney resorts should be an example of what storytelling can be. This templatized hotel room approach they've taken over the past 5-10 years is lazy and unbecoming of a brand who built their reputation on immersive, thematic experiences and attention to detail at parks and resorts.
Why is everything the same blah color? The color might work if they added in some accent corals, teal, darker brown, highlights of palm green ?At least there is some blue/green tile but come on. This is a bit underwhelming to me.
The little details are great but why so much beige?! The dulled out colors look bad like the designer was forced to use some color but wanted everything beige. Moana and Polynesia are so colorful and this looks like beige mom decorates a Hilton Hotel. It kind of sucks the joy out of you instead of inspires it? DVC what is going on? You work for Disney, a place of joy and you give us this bland design?
Disney...take the hint. We don't like what we're seeing in this video. I agree just a Hilton. When you pull down that small bed under the TV, the kids expect a bright happy character and it's not there.
This shouldn't have been built at Polynesian. It's disrespectful to it's surroundings and pays zero homage to the rest of the resort. It is out of place. The new generation of Imagineers think we want boring office buildings with little theming.
My thoughts exactly! If Mary Blair is known for one thing it’s her sophisticated and forward thinking color design. How do you make something devoid of color and call it Mary Blair inspired?
It’s pretty but why is the whole thing beige? Did I go colorblind or is it really that colorless irl? Is it too late to add lush tropical colors? Great job on creating the opposite of a Polynesian island getaway! It’s definitely giving “sad beige midwestern modern minimalist”
I think it looks nice. I like the artwork, the carvings and the representation of family with turtle and all of the Moana references, the island, the heart of tafiti. It might be a lot of neutrals, but I think it is classic and clean. If I could afford it, I would stay there.
When I think of tan in Polynesia, I'm thinking suntan, not beige tan. I do not dream of tan shower curtains with beige birds and fish. I've never seen a beige sea turtle or a brown flower (unless it was dead.) Disney, color is your friend. I do hope you take these comments under advisement, and add some actual color to your color scheme. Please.
The hide away beds with art behind them is my favorite! Absolutely love it! We wanted to stay at the Polynesian this October when we go, but we simply just can't afford it😢
@@d.l.n.7133 Well.... We'll see what happens. To me, it looked fine. If Disney gets enough comments about the décor being not up to snuff for those that are staying there, than MAYBE they will change it. And, that's a really, really big maybe. For now, it's built and those who want to stay there, will. If not, there are 31 more places to choose from, that are on property. 🤷🏻
Being a DVC member based at the Polynesian I feel there is a loss as to what the original property was pitched as. I used to stay there in a deluxe studio which slept 5 and had almost a complete second bathroom. Now, I believe the maximum is 4 and only 1 bathroom. Plus there is now a much longer walk to get to the Main House and to get to the transportation center. I think staying at another DVC property which is cheaper pointwise and more in line with the Disney design will be more to my liking.
Good thing you closed the walkway from the military resort "shades of green" that would let vets use the Polynesian monirail station. You dont want homely vetrans interupting your Beige extravaganza
Another project Disney has dropped the ball on. Would be nice, if I wanted to stay at a Hilton. But if I want to stay at the Poly it will be in the main rooms. This is so out of place, no thanks 👎🏼
The dining area is stunning! This room is beautiful. I love all the ways authentic Polynesian culture is incorporated, and the way inspiration has been taken from the imagery of the movie Moana without plastering characters everywhere. I also love the sustainability aspect.
I think the design is elegant and beautiful. As a DVC Member, I appreciate the variety in the theming at each resort. I can not wait to see the rest of the design of the entire resort. Beautiful job. 👍🏻🌴🌊🌴😎
The table in the studio is way too small. No counter or coffee table either. I Wish the color palette was richer. I hope the exterior doesn't stick out like a sore thumb
I think they forgot kids might stay here. At the risk of repeating all the other comments, this is just plain... Plain. No color. No fun. No whimsy. Walt would not approve.
I have been waiting for months for this haha! Now just to see the points charts for the rooms. I think it may be a bit small for a 1 bedroom (living area I mean) but it's not bad. I like that the studio has a dishwasher and that little seating area. I don't know if people would rather book a studio in the tower over the long houses just for that but either way they get a great room. I am so looking forward to getting a theme park view two bedroom!
I love beige. Nothing else but beige. Beige is life. Nothing represents the colorful polynesian like beige.
😂😂😂
What drugs are you on? Lol, Disney is ripping the Disney that we all loved. This is just a hotel you can find somewhere in Orlando for way cheaper.

I didn’t know a presentation could make me physically feel beige, but wow, you made it work.
Also the tower is such an eyesore.
Disney is killing it and not in a good way.
The room is so neutral, she’s blending in.
She disappears half-way through the video
Nothing about this FEELS Disney. It feels like I’m at a work conference in my beige mom aesthetic motel room

You seem clueless as to all of the Polynesian craft people and artists that Disney worked with.
Its so 2019
Jesus this is such a boring looking room, why are all the redesigns taking any theming away?
Not bad for a Marriott in Des Moines...

It's nice but it reads Beach Club or Vero Beach more than Polynesian. Why the washed out pastel palette and light beige woods?
Everyone has different tastes. Good thing is Disney has something for everyone.
