I totally understand what you mean when you said some books clealythink that they are amazing and the author wants to make sure you understand how great their book is as you are reading it. I recently read The Watchmaker of Filigree Street, and although I did enjoy it, I got that same vibes but didn't know how to explain it.
I got Persephone Station because the cover was so cool and amazing, but now I'm hearing it's not as good as I want it to be and I'm concerned! I need to lower my expectations and read the thing! A little scared.
I love this concept. I'm also superficial and I buy books with beautiful covers and I borrow the ugly covers from libraries. Now I want to choose three books with beautiful covers and see if I love the stories inside these books 💜💙🤍
I also read The Mystery of the Blue Train in July! Agatha is my boyfriend's favorite author, and he has a book club in which we read one Hercule Poirot book each month. I agree with you, Roger Ackroyd has been the best one so far, it deserves a beautiful edition 💜
The most beautiful book I have is Circe hardback by Madeline Miller it is just stunning and I am so excited to read it as I loved the song of Achilles so much so looking forward to trying more from her 🥰
Loving this series! 😍😍 I really hope you do the concept of “how well does the cover convey the plot of the story?” And for me lately it’s if the cover has people featured, do they match/represent the characters descriptions well? I’m sure you have so many ideas already, can’t wait to see what you do with this! Xx
I cannot wait for more videos in this series... Love the concept of it! I'm definitely someone who cover buys, especially when I'm looking for new books/authors to read.
Thanks to you, I know what my TBR is going to be for August!! 5 books with my favorite/most aesthetically pleasing covers and 5 books with my least favorite/eyesore covers.
Loved this! Question: Have you read And Then There Were None? Because I loved it and was so excited to read Murder on the Orient Express and ended up really not liking Murder on the Orient Express
As an Agatha Christie stan, I totally feel where you were coming from with the Mystery of the Blue Train. If you were a fan of Murder of Roger Ackroyd you should 100% check out endless night and/or crooked house. Those were other favs of mine alongside Akroyd and And then there were none.
I love the cover of "Strange the dreamer" but i am afraid that i will not love the book (inside) i have started it once and read 2 chapters but this book has so flowery writing that i was not in the mood to read it
love the concept ❤ i think it might be fun to do the opposite and read the covers you don't like one of my favourite covers I have is actually the movie-tie-in edition of call me by your name. i wanted to read it for the longest time, before the movie was even announced but if you've seen the original cover you know that it's ugly [sorry, if you disagree but I really hate it]. and I really like the bright blue with yellow lettering they went for in the movie-tie-in one
Now I'm disappointed in my Circus of Wonder book and not by what you said but by seeing the naked hardback. I live in the US and I sent my BIL on a hunt all over the UK to find me the indie bookshop edition with the beautiful sprayed edges...but the naked hard back is PLAIN and now I feel robbed!!
I hate to say it and no one come for me haha but Anxious People by Fredrik Backman read to me like “I’m such a good book” so I totally get what you mean. I ended up DNFing it so I’ll never know for sure lol🤷🏾♀️ love your videos as always!!😍
Omg i read a man called ove and hated it with all my heart... it tries too hard - it used minority groups to help a white man... i guess his books are not for us
I feel like a pretty cover makes me go into a book with a positive attitude as opposed to ugly covers which is a really bad thing but it's always the case 😅
The disappointment in the mystery of the blue train is SO REAL i found it boring as hell. If you’re reading the poirot in order, I think peril are end house is next and that book is WILD
It's always really annoyed me that The Greatest Showman gave P. T. Barnum a great image to people who otherwise didn't know who he was. And how the song 'This Is Me' is used by companies/organisations/charities in adverts, or campaigns, or promotional videos to showcase equality and people celebrating their identities and differences. Like, I get wanting to claim that messaging, but there's also something slightly icky about it to me, when in real life Barnum was racist and ableist.
i'm OBSESSED with this concept!
ahhh thank uuuu!!
There's just something about a great book cover.
EXACTLY!!!!

I am living for all the content lately! Thank you for always giving us such entertaining videos, I love it all!
I feel you on the hayfever front. My eyes are burning haha. And loved the video as always!
Hahahaha it was sooo bad!! Thank u💖💖💖
I got Persephone Station because the cover was so cool and amazing, but now I'm hearing it's not as good as I want it to be and I'm concerned! I need to lower my expectations and read the thing! A little scared.
I totally understand what you mean about books like The Nightingale and the "I'm a great book" feeling.
I love this concept. I'm also superficial and I buy books with beautiful covers and I borrow the ugly covers from libraries. Now I want to choose three books with beautiful covers and see if I love the stories inside these books 💜💙🤍

hahah we're opposites!! i really didn;t like and then there were none!
@@megwithbooks That's my running theory. If you liked one, you're probably not going to like the other.

this is a wonderful concept!! you’ve got me searching my bookshelves so I could try this out myself😂

YAYYYY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!💕
@@megwithbooks omg thank you 🥺💖
I love the cover of "Strange the dreamer" but i am afraid that i will not love the book (inside) i have started it once and read 2 chapters but this book has so flowery writing that i was not in the mood to read it
ahhh i loved strange the dreamer actually!! i feel like it takes a lil while to get into!
You, Emma and Tazmyn are three of my favourite RUclipsrs - hope you had a great time together
love the concept ❤

Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger is one of the most beautiful books I own & it's one of my faves! ✨
I love the thumbnail for this vlog and it was enjoyable to watch too 😍
i'm a simp for beautiful covers 😍
I love your new intro animation!! (Sorry if it is not actually new I am v behind on booktube videos)
Not me checking out Agatha Christie special editions on Waterstones now
😍 Books like people can not be judged by the cover. Truly a case of what's inside matters most 😘
🧡💛🧡

Honestly all his books read like that 🙄 one of my least favorite authors
Can you link me the order you're reading the Poirot books in? I haven't found a definitive list of it yet! Thanks 🤗🤗
If you go to agathachristie.com they have reading lists! Not sure if that's what she is using or not though
I feel like a pretty cover makes me go into a book with a positive attitude as opposed to ugly covers which is a really bad thing but it's always the case 😅
what are some isolated mystery/thrillers you would recommend?
p.s. im a newbie to the genre if that changes things
I have read some of the best and worst books that have had gorgeous covers
The Trixie/Kennedy meme!!! 💀
❤❤❤
❤️
😍😍😍😍 A QUEEN
Adding Fat Chance Charlie Vega!!
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥

bookstore berlin germany
I feel like a lot of time pretty books are a trick. ☹
i get what you mean when you talk about historical fiction.
You are 16 going on 17 💃
I could literaly watch hours of reading vlog where you read Agatha Christie💯

it should be illegal for shitty books to have good covers 🤭
Aaaah finally catching up and I squealed at Hippo’s cameo
❤️
