HAHA i wasnt trying to be mean i was trying to take off the responsibility of me choosing!! and yes its totally ok to read the first book since u saw the sequel for it on ur twitter feed :) sorry u didnt like this one as much tho! (Plot twist what if u would’ve ended up loving it if u had read the sequel instead??)
i totally agree with your DOSAB review. i was SO invested in the story at the beginning of the book but then the romance was introduced and i just did NOT care. and then the rest of the book is mostly focused on the romance. so yes i agree, if you’re invested in the romance you’ll more than likely enjoy the book. i’ll probably still continue on in the series just because of the way the first book ended, but idk if i’ll be happy about it lol
i’m so glad i read Daughter of Smoke and Bone as a 15 year old because that book hit HARD as a teen. will always be a favourite because of the memories!! also i think it’s good you have read it before Muse because there are a few easter eggs for it in there 🥰
🐝 The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle is one of my favourite murder mysteries. I do agree the ending was a little weak but the book overall was super interesting
Omg so many thoughts here, sorry for the rambling comment! I snorted so hard when you said “It’s gonna take awhile to find something” and literally the first post you scrolled down to had a book. Perfect. I’m about 2/3 through Daughter of Smoke and Bone and now I’m scared of the sudden shift that’s coming, it sounds like something I’ll be furious with too. Totally agree on the instalove, but that seems to be Laini Taylor’s thing… it’s my singular complaint about Strange the Dreamer (though it’s still an all-time fave). Also totally get the whole loving the style but not the story-not with these but with the Wayward Children series, I adore Seanan McGuire’s writing but the stories have all fallen so flat for me. YOU’RE FINALLY READING EVELYN HARDCASTLE?! AAAAAAHHHHHHhhhhh oh 3.5. Aw. Okay. I agree that the ending is a little unsatisfying. There were too many twists and it was all too convoluted. Like, you’ve already got this incredibly mind-twisting concept and plot, why do you need to throw all these extra twists in at the end? Anyway. I’m sorry you didn’t love it! I really thought it would be the perfect book for you. I wish I was still making Booktube videos so I could ask Booktubers for prompts like this! 🐝🐝🐝
Dang it! I read a lot from the library, and have recently gotten into audiobooks through them, but I also like to collect ergodic fiction (literally means “nontrivial effort is required to allow the reader to traverse the text,” so basically just non traditional telling of stories!) I listened to Honey Girl on audio, but they did such a smooth job of incorporating the mixed media I didn’t even realize or I would have bought it! 🐝
I skimmed Daughter of Smoke and Bone after /that twist/ happened. I hated it. I was so hooked and loved the Prague vibes but after that twist, all interest was lost 😭 I'm glad you had to same problem and feels as much 😭
🐝🐝🐝 I loved all these prompts! The seven deaths of evelyn hardcastle really made me use every bit of brainpower that I had so I relate to you saying maybe it was too clever for me 😭
the 7 deaths of evelyn hardcastle is such a mind flip! I did have to read it twice to fully understand it tho… and I do agree the end was really something else 🐝 🐝
I’m fully with you on smoke and bone. ( I just read it for the first time last week). Laini Taylor’s writing is great, Karou is cool but ultimately nothing really happens in the book - in a bad way because it pretends it does? And I only skim read the end because I did NOT care about that “backstory” whatsoever. I won’t continue but I am interested to hear what you’re gonna say when/if you ever do. 🐝
It was really a prologue to the other books in the series lol , the world was so much more developed in the next ones, I actually liked them a lot more when I read them!
even though i think i'm probs too dumb for the seven deaths of evelyn hardcastle, hearing you relate it to nancy drew games makes me want to read it even more 🐝🍯
I had the same feelings towards Stuart Turton's book. Read Evelyn Hardcastle, gave it 3 stars in 2019. Last year I tried to re-read it and couldn't pass page 50. I closed the door to this writer until I watched your vlob reading The Devil and the dark water. I took a leap of faith and bought myself a copy. I read it last week for summerween and it was a 5 star! We're not dumb, I think Evelyn Hardcastle is very uneven, trying too hard to come up with this ingenious book and he got trapped into a corner at the end. But thank you because I went from almost unhauling Evelyn Hardcastle to buy his other book and keep both 😁
Definitely not mad with you about DOSAB - I massively disliked this book, which makes me scared to read Strange The Dreamer, I met the author a few years back and got it signed but not sure if I am going to like it/I have been putting it off 🤭
Omg I CHEERED when you held up 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle!! This is one of my favorite books of all time & I’ve been eager to hear your thoughts on it! I had a feeling you wouldn’t love the ending though lol but the rest of the story seems up your alley with complex locked room murder mystery vibes
I listened to this on audiobook so maybe that is why I got put off this book, but I was pretty bored with this book, so maybe it’s just the author’s writing?
HAHA i wasnt trying to be mean i was trying to take off the responsibility of me choosing!! and yes its totally ok to read the first book since u saw the sequel for it on ur twitter feed :) sorry u didnt like this one as much tho! I’m so glad you liked honey girl, I was gonna be upset lololol

this kind of reading vlog is always so much fun🐝🐝
quiet is an absolutely perfect descriptor for Honey Girl, I felt exactly the same way
Its on my TBR and that’s truly the vibe it’s giving me. I’m afraid I won’t like it so I keep avoiding it..
I loved Daughter of Smoke & Bone and The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle! This was another great video, Megan 🐝

I listened to this on audiobook so maybe that is why I got put off this book, but I was pretty bored with this book, so maybe it’s just the author’s writing?

🐝 I’m sad that the seven deaths of Evelyn hardcastle wasn’t as good as you were expecting
I appreciate you calling out the fatphobia in the book. Just totally unnecessary. Ugh.
Yeah I felt the fatphobia in 7deaths of evelyn hugo...
Bookstore Berlin Germany
okay, this is going to be a WEIRD question. BUT, is your hair as silky as it looks?! lol, and yes this is a real question. hahaha
If it makes you feel any better I didn’t like the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. 🤷♀️
🐝 who ever shamed you in the past is a total douche bag. You are beautiful inside and out.
I found Evelyn Hardcastle sooooo confusing so I’m glad that the second book might be easier for me!
