@Ab Magno, did you make it and it curdled? It shouldn't curdle, but it could depend on what cream you're using. Which country are you in and what kind of cream are you using? I read that it can happen if you have an extraordinarily sour lemon. I also read that it can help if you evaporate the cream first. But not sure about that process. You could research it online. Good luck!

What kind the cream is the corret to use in USA?
@constantina63, we are in Canada and we use 35% whipping cream. I am fairly sure you have the same thing in the US.
Yummy
Thank you!
What happens if you let the heavy cream cool and then whip it to become more fluffy? I always melt chocolate in heavy cream on the cooking machine, let it cool and then whip it to make mousse au chocolat.
@missgucciify, that would change the texture of the dessert, but we think it could be quite nice that way. Let us know how it turns out if you try it! Sarah
This recipe seems to be identical to the one uploaded by America's Test Kitchen four years ago.
The recipe was the Queen's (Elizabeth II) wedding dessert. It was created long before America's Test Kitchen came along. We don't watch that show or know anything about it...
Do you know if you can double the recipe?
@HOLLYHOUSE11, absolutely, you can double the recipe.
I am thinking wont the lemon juice curdle hot the cream?
@shikhab2250, no it shouldn't. It didn't for us!
I’ve never had a posset. Is it similar to a pudding?
In the sense of the custard pudding? Sorry British people use “pudding” in more contexts so I’m not sure. Yes I suppose it’s similar to the custard pudding but its much softer and doesn’t set the same since it has no eggs. It doesn’t wobble 😂
@lifeisgoodII, not really! It's more like a thick cream.
Will it work with oranges or limes?
Anne-Marie, there are also orange and lime possets. I imagine the quantities of ingredients would be the same!
@@GuillermoandSarah Thank you!
I wish you would have made a closer shot of scooping it with the spoon so we could get a better look at the final texture
@mabylene, thanks for your helpful comment! We can't go back and add it to the video now, but thanks to you we'll know to do that next time.
Why is everyone using the grater upside down? :)
@igorspitz, I believe we are using a microplane and that's the way it works best!
Спасибо 😇👍🔥
#user-ye8of9uj7v, you are very welcome!! 🙂❤️
I'm off to the kitchen to make my first posset. Just curious though, what was posset used as a remedy for?
@Carlos101010101, as I understant it, most often for colds, but also when people were just generally not feeling well. I hope your first posset turned out well! Sarah
@@GuillermoandSarah Turned out great. Family is demanding it be made part of Thanksgiving.
@@Carlos101010101 so glad to hear that! It would be a fantastic dessert for Thanksgiving. We've already had ours as Canadian Thanksgiving is in October!
This looks so good. I LUV anything LEMON. Is this comparable to pudding?? Mousse?? Will make it soon.Thanx for bringing some
ROYAL culture to us. ⚘⚘
@barbaraspencer8927, we're glad you enjoyed our video! It's actually not comparable to a pudding or a mousse! It's something completely different. Very easy to make and very delicious! Let us know if you make it and how you like it.
Boling the cream seems way too harsh to denature it, I think keeping it at 170 F for 5-10 minutes should be enough
@thedude4795, you could be right! This is a very old, traditional recipe we are showing.
Hi do you have more recipes
would this work with other citrus fruits? (orange, lime)
@jzwalz51robin45, great question! I was wondering the same thing. I did a quick search and yes indeed, both orange and lime posset exist. If you make one, let us know how it turns out. 🙂
What kind of cookie was this?
@sunnydeemaui6109, they're amaretti cookies! Here's a link to our video on how to make them: ruclips.net/video/4SunhTCuEUY/видео.html
NICE ❤
@wynonajohnson3937, thank you!
Wie viel Milliliter/Gramm ist 1 cup?
@angeliqueorgeur7667, 1 cup = 236.6 Milliliter / 240 Gramm.
Prima, vielen Dank für die Antwort. Schöne Ostern!🌼🐇🐣
I'd want the lemon zest left in.
That would be tasty! I guess it would change the texture, but it might be worth it for the added zestiness!
At one time the Queen preferred the Flummery Tart, but alas no more. EDIT: Mainly because she's dead, but also because, before she died, she went off them.
@adamchurvis1, what is Flummery Tart!?
Has anyone ever made it with other citrus fruits? I tried orange once, but it wasn't great. Very little orange flavor.
@calculusfan1, I looked it up on RUclips and yes, there are also orange and lime possets. I've never tried them though. I think the lime one could be very good! If you try it, let us know how it tastes! Sarah
Lemon whipped cream...mmmm
@jennifer, truly so delicious!!!

How about some homemade granola just before eating ?
This looks good 👍
@scottpitner, I love the idea of granola with the possett! Crumbled on top, it would be very nice, I think! Thanks for the idea. Sarah
Awesome :)
Presentation probably looks nicer like you did here, compared to brown crumbs lol but it would taste good
@@scottpitner4298 it would taste so good!!
Can I use milk instead of cream?
No, it needs to be cream, at least 35%.
how not to curdle lemon posser?
@Ab Magno, did you make it and it curdled? It shouldn't curdle, but it could depend on what cream you're using. Which country are you in and what kind of cream are you using? I read that it can happen if you have an extraordinarily sour lemon. I also read that it can help if you evaporate the cream first. But not sure about that process. You could research it online. Good luck!
Can someone please help me. Why did my posset did not thicken?
Sorry to hear your posset didn't thicken! Maybe it has to do with the cream you are using. What percentage is the cream you used?
That sugar quantity blew my mind.
@praddzzz, it's true, it has a lot of sugar. But it's so delicious. It's for a very rare treat!
Its beautiful and sounds good but looks like it has a lot of sugar. I think I’ll make it for my parents. They’d love it!
@Iceland874, thank you! It's true that it has a lot of sugar, but not an insane amount. Ok for a rare treat! Let us know how your parents like it.
I also thought there was a lot of sugar. Hate artificial substitutes but was wondering if it would work with less and add some more sweet fruits.
@@argeebargee a friend of mine was showing me Monk Fruit sweetener yesterday. It's natural and delicious and I think it would great as a sugar substitute for this recipe. Not for this recipe, but in general dates, bananas, and apple sauce work well.
@@GuillermoandSarah thank you. I'd never heard of it.

@vitalic_drms, love it. We are totally picturing a lemon opossum. In Mexico they're called tlacuache and Guillermo once had a family of them living in his couch!
Similar to syllabub. 😊
Dee Geraghty, what is syllabub!?
No no thats not wat i meant , its just that i never knew u can make desserts with just one or 2 ingredients because all mine desserts got soooooo many ingredient

OK, so it's fat and sugar, flavored with lemon. Sounds healthy! hahaha

I saw a documentary that said the queens favorite treat was the Flummery tart, made by dungeon minions.
What is Flummery tart!?
Wow nice recipe
#NitsBits
@NitBits2414, thank you!! We appreciate your comment!
This would be easy to convert into a keto recipe.
@CCoburn, really? Interesting! How would one do that?
@@GuillermoandSarah Replace the sugar with a low carb or no carb sweetener.
I don't really get why you would ever have more than 2 cups after boiling....you started with 2 cups
Because you add 2/3 cup of sugar. That is more than half a cup, so simply you are reducing volume to make thicker
Thank you so much @saraken9718, you did my job for me by explaining!! I am indebted to you :-) Sarah
Did I miss the measurements?
@vanessa, they're mentioned in the video, but here they are for you!
- 2 large lemons
- 2 cups heavy cream*
- 2/3 cup sugar
@GuillermoandSarah hi, looks pretty! What is the * you added near the heavy cream? And can you specify quantities in grams, please, as cups sulize differ in different countries? Thanks.
@trulymine9470 hey there! I tried this recipe and it's pretty fool-proof regardless of the exact measurements. I add as much sugar as I like to ~16 oz of cream, and a ~ 2-3 tbs of lemon juice or more, depending on the tartness I want that day.
I followed ur recipe and they didn’t set. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
@anak6940, that is very strange. I wonder if it's something with the cream. What kind of cream did you use?
🙏💗💗💗💕💙
Hi. How much Cream please
@parnellbelliappa8633, 2 cups of heavy cream. If you go to the video Description and scroll down you'll see the ingredients list. 🙂
does it need to be double cream and can it be basic milk?
It should be at least 35 per cent cream. No milk.
35 per cent fat.
i read the title wrong
@arthurdeleniq, oops! What did you think it said?
Which queen? Belgium, Spain, Sweden, ... ?
@fedethefico, good question! The Queen of England, who passed away last September. This video was made around the time of her Platinum Jubilee, while she was still alive. 🙂
Posset is a pre dessert. It is not a dessert in itself.
Wow, I guess that could be the case for those who really love their sweets, but that's all the dessert I need or would like! Sarah
pre dessert LMAO
Ouch, all the sugar.
@inluminatiomea9889 , it's true, it has a lot of sugar. But it's so delicious. It's for a very rare treat!
🤣😂😅
queen of what ???
@user-el3ub1ym4r, (Former) Queen of England! This was her wedding dessert. When we made the video, she was still alive.
Boiling it so long is very unhealthy! Why don't you do it as raw which would be the healthiest!
Hmmm, @DevaPoints, this isn't meant to be a healthy recipe! It's for a rare treat. Boiling is necessary for the recipe. If you want something more healthy, check out our lemon bars / lemon squares!
Hi is this a dessert, heres nothing here , no crust , no egg , no jelly, not even creamcheese , desserts do need one or all of these , so is this a dessert
@mehjabeenjable3632, really? So a pudding isn't a dessert either?
This is similar to how paneer is made, the British stole it from the Indians!
Well not only they stole the recipe for Paneer, they stole the world's precious Diamond.
The one and only
Kohinoor!
Not only they're thieves they're colonizers and slave drivers
.Every country they colonized, they robbed, looted and drove the natives stateless.
Like the indigenous natives of Australia.
@LisaG442, interesting point! That may or may not be true, but it would be interesting to research. There are definitely similarities in different cuisines without there having been a theft.
Posset is much older than English presence in India.
Really man !! Go and read up the history of panneer.
FYI the famous samosa of NI didn't originate from there.
There are lots of similarities between various cuisines.
The world is big.
South Indian who heard of panneer only in the '90s in Chennai.

Because default we are talking about a women’s wedding in some part of the world & she happens to be queen to some of the people well rest don’t care
@use-hustlelucre, it is actually quite astonishing how many millions of people in the world do care. We never would have had the success with this video (over 100,000 views) without mentioning the Queen. We made it around the time of her Platinum Jubilee celebration last year and this year close to the time of her death it has exploded. I can't see "Women's Wedding Dessert" flying at all. It was also eaten by Prince Philip btw.
@@GuillermoandSarah Great achievement for you I will say, however ideally it wasn’t possible until you practiced it enough & then came up with ideal taste of this dessert, it’s your generosity that you want to offer your efforts to the queen, however to me it’s a desert made by someone who gave it all in it & decided to offer its intense work to offer a women with some position at her wedding.
In fact I would rather celebrate you for making this with perfection rather your queen who just got it bcz bcz of your gratitude
