I lived i Thailand for two years and the people are so lovely, i can say i came back to the uk by being more offering and kind thanks to thail culture, trying to spread generosity in england which can be a little so so at times. great adventure! glad u were looked after

Thank you for this lovely and peaceful episode. By the time you were exiting Thailand, I guess you found out that you could buy gasoline in bottles at road-side stores when crossing villages. The No.1 advantage when cycling across South-East Asia is the limitless amount of fresh fruits and veggies one can put atop their large portion of rice. Banana, peanuts, sweet potatoes sunken in coconut milk are my favorites yummy!
Our pleasure 😊 We did find out but the quality was not so good. We had problems with the stove getting dirty really fast. The food at the marketplaces is just wonderful for cyclists. We love the rice, coco, fruit, peanuts so much it's gonna be a staple in our diet for years to come 😉

Hello, have been watching you for a long time, awesome trip! How you guys protect your bikes while sleeping, and what you do if you want to roam in city or small villages, you leave them to some local people?
Thank you Emre! While sleeping we often put the bikes in front of the tent entrance or take them up to the hotel room. At a minimum we want a safe place where we feel confident nobody is going to get to them easily. We usually keep the bikes in sight or one of us stays behind while the other is scouting, shopping, etc. That has more to do with what's in the bags. Especially things like harddisks and the laptop are important because that is how we make the video's and store precious data.

Ik fiets elke dag naar het werk en mountainbike een aantal keer per week op schoorl.
Dit weekend voor het eerst samen met mijn zoontje (10) op de fiets gaan wild camperen en dat is zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.
Snel weer een lang weekend plannen 😊
Ik kijk graag naar jullie prachtige reis en leuke reisverslagen!

Hi Al! Thank you 😊 We have a dedicated international insurance covering cycle touring. It's not cheap but gives peace of mind! Luckily in Thailand there we're so many tasty things. We loved the fried banana's and drinking straight out of a coconut 😋 All the Best, E&M!
Did you get the gas pump working? Was it the safety shut off?
I think it was for a set amount of fuel able to pour in one squeeze. We couldn't read the instructions so we took a chance. In the end we found a regular gas station where we could fill up. There are plenty around but we had this unlucky morning with all the dead end possibilities 😂

Thanks Reza! We saved up (enough) for 1,5 years before heading out. Make a good daily spending estimate for yourself and multiply that with the amount of days you are planning to be out and factor in unforeseen costs and some save margin and you have the sum you need to sustain your travel itinerary. Haha, that's really great! We would love to go to Norway too, any route suggestions? We're currently back home, working and saving up for new adventures. We have various plans for future adventures but are not quite set on one yet. It might be a longer cycle tour through Europe, or maybe even by foot! And we will certainly document it :-)

Thanks Dave! We are back home at the moment because of Covid19. We cycled up from Bangkok to Vientiane in Laos. Our navigation we do with the Maps.me app on the iPhone. It's a free app with which you can download offline maps. It works like a charm and is highly recommended 👌🏼

That was a nice video. Interesting about the farming. I like what u said about rising infrastructure. Human population is growing too much imo. Moving into animal homes. That bridge looked dodgy. Good on u to detour! I loved the smile of the man who posed for a photo and how calm and nice u guys are even when u struggle to find petrol. Good quality video again... u do amazing cutting them. It is an enviable trip. Most Thai people are friendly to tourists. But his English is not strong, you have to accept it.

I guess it's all how you look at things. I ride my bike almost every day to the tune of 17K+ miles in 3 years and haven't once felt the need to put it on a plane to fly somewhere while adding carbon to the atmosphere just so that I can ride and beg for handouts along the way. I'm sure galivanting around the planet is fun but also destructive to the ecosphere. If you so desperately need the recognition to feel worthwhile, even to be able to continue your narcissistic self-serving roaming you should help someone... anyone in a way that means something real.
Brian - surely widening ones horizons is not a crime and they leave such a small footprint and do seem genuinely interested in the world - perhaps if some of our so called leaders had such an education the world would be a better place
