Just got my first CRK today, a plain jane Large 21, and love it... But was bummed that the awesome blue anodized pin could fall out when I took the lanyard off. Not a big lanyard dude myself (except on Emersons that make the wave easier to use). Then I remembered seeing this video, and voila! Thanks for the useful tip bro. It works great!
Great video, I was looking for to see if Chris Reeve sold a shouldered type pin. I did this little trick and it only took 2 minutes, thanks for sharing!
Pya: I've had CRK's for like 18 years, even went by his old location when I worked in Boise one week. All these years, and I have never thought of this…Like darn…Am about to do this, and I see you made this in 2012, I thought I saw all your vids…super idea.
It's a machining hole. I believe they use it for machining efficiency. They can fasten the scale down and mill it whether for left hand or right hand carry. Of UGG sebenzas or more ornate ones, they can fasten a cabochon or something like that in the hole as well.
why is there a whole in the handle? you know, the one through which you can see the blade or, if deployed, see through? it just doesn't seem to make sense. do you know?
Right now I only have the Umnumzaan in s30v. My sebenzas and Ti-Lock are in s35vn. Chemically speaking, s35 has a touch less vanadium than s30v and an addition of niobium. From what I've read, s35 is supposedly tougher than s30v, and has more of a tendency to roll at the edge rather than chip. It is also supposed to be easier to sharpen but doesn't necessarily hold an edge as well as s30v. Every time you mess with chemical composition, there is always a give and take.
My very first review was a ti-lock. Sold it and then just got another one today. Just made a video, and I'm selling it. :P Catch and release. Interested?
After 10 years your video is still very useful 👌 I bought an old sebenza and didn't now what was going on with the pin 😂 thanks for the vid 🤜🤛
Glad it helped! It was fun when it lasted :)
You deserve the 1st CRKT mod price . . if one exist. Thank you sir FOR fantastic tip.

Wow. You melted some paracord. You da man dawg.
Wow. You typed on a keyboard. Congratulations for your contribution to society.
Nice idea ! I never knew what to do with these pins. Thanks fo sharing
Thanks man. This helped a lot
What is the width of the lanyard pin? I heard it will fit any open-frame knife with a 3/16" lanyard hole but how wide is it from end-to-end?
Great! Glad it worked for you. Now enjoy that Sebenza!
I meant: You obv. have the older and the newer Sebenzas right? So can you compare those? Do you feel any difference in edge holding or so?
why is there a whole in the handle? you know, the one through which you can see the blade or, if deployed, see through? it just doesn't seem to make sense. do you know?
ha. That actually makes sense. Thanks, man. And since we're at it: What do you think of the new S35VN version?

Nice. Great blade. Wish I could have made it to the show and seen the 25.
I wonder if you could put a small oring on each end of the pin and have it hold in place.
Great idea, nice mod! Thanks for sharing.
No problem Shaun! Hope it helped!
Thanks man. That was really helpful. And you have a Ti-Lock?? Have you made a review on that already? Would love to see one.
nice mod bro!!! i'll have to do this next time i break down the zaan.
I know right? Kind of seemed like a waste without a lanyard. Now it's extra bling :P
I think I may have seen it somewhere or read about it. Maybe it was your video! It was a while back.
No problem DC!
Thank you! I started to panic when I cut the lanyard and the pin fell out...
Awesome! Glad the video helped. Thanks for the sub!
That's how I've been doing it too. I think I mention it in one of my vids also.
Do you play Glen on the Walking Dead?
Cool man...thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Cool idea thanks!
No problem!
but I will def check out your vid!
Yup!
It's pretty simple :)
